Do not stay!!! Read the reviews most are really bad and rightly so. The guy behind the bar, is the most unhelpful person you are likely to meet. Stay well clear of this place, honestly!!!

Old fashioned country inn - hotel/restaurant/pub. I love the a**osphere but the bed was not comfortable. Having staff available only part time and having to order, and pay for, breakfast the night before is not convenient.

We stayed here for two nights - we’d travelled up from Manchester to walk BN on the Saturday. We expected a cosy welcome with great food / breakfast etc. - but to no avail. Breakfast was served from 8am only (not ideal if wanting to start an early walk up BN), and was simple at best. On the Sunday the bread provided for us to toast was mouldy - not great. The pods we stayed in were acceptable, the bathrooms were basic however, with small shower cubicles and inappropriate hand basins for shaving etc. We’d not stay here again - which is such a shame - the building and location could offer so much more.

My friend and I booked this hotel last minute and regretted it. Several, issues On checking in we were told we would be in one of the lodges. This turned out to be a very small room with the only storage being two plastic hangers on the back of the door, Website claims a complimentary breakfast is offered. We were told our rate was room only. If we wanted complimentary breakfast, the room would cost another £28. The breakfast costs £14pp to buy, so it is not complimentary. Bathroom had the smallest wash hand basin I've ever seen with only a cold tap. If you wanted to wash your hands in hot water after using the bathroom you had to use the kitchen sink! The tea station was under the wall mounted TV which, when the kettle boiled, meant steam was going up onto TV. The hair dryer was attached to the wall next to tea station with loose teabags. So when drying hair, there was every chance hairs could find their way into teabags. Everywhere you looked were notices telling guests what not to do e.g. no food prep or cooking. There were no facilities to do either anyway1 We decided to eat in the hotel, only to find food was served in a narrow, dingy public bar. We were charged £31.15 for one cheap frozen pizza,2 portions of chips at £5.95 each and 2 soft drinks. Chips were advertised as hand cut but were again cheap frozen chips. The food was awful and extortionate. We decided to cut our losses and left a day early. We went to advise staff of this only to find door to hotel and reception securely shut and locked. We paid £465 for 3 nights room only and I can't believe what we got for ir. My advice is find somewhere else to stay.

2 pints and a supermarket pizza (it had the uniform holes on the underside) for £30 is just a rip off! 2 stars as the guy was quite friendly bringing water for the dog, I get that’s it’s a captive audience being 1 of only 2 places in Roy bridge but we won’t return

The good news - our 'cabin' was clean / adequate for short stay and beds comfortable - hence two stars not one! The rest is bad news - unwelcoming demand for payment on arrival. No normal hotel facilities e.g. dining room (just the public bar), lounge, reception, etc. Clearly the hotel once had these in its glory days but now everything is run down. Food options basic and no cooked breakfast available - just uninspiring cold choice at £14 extra. The beer was £6.75 a pint - which is steep even for southerners - and unpleasant enough to leave unfinished. Bottled water was from Aldi ('not for resale') with 1000% mark up. No hot water in shower room and minute sink, so washing not an option. Cramped cabin with no storage for clothes. Very expensive for standard of accommodation. If you want a pleasant relaxing hotel break, look elsewhere - there are much better options at a similar price, even within the confines of Roy Bridge.

Wanted to drop in for a Saturday evening drink, potential meal, and book a Sunday lunch. Met by blunt notices saying no this no that. Went in and was stared at by the man behind the bar who was about the most unfriendly person I’ve met in a long time. Made to feel completely unwanted. Politely asked if they did meals to be told extremely bluntly, that we could only buy drinks with cash or meals in cash no cards. He didn’t actually want to speak, just stare at us So we promptly left. Outside was a sign saying “staff wanted”

During are recent stay in the accommodation ajecent to the hotel we we’re constantly harassed to finish are drinks and felt always rushed, The chef was constantly in and out of the toilet every time you used it , it was completely embarrassing, place is run like a 70s sitcom, probably best to avoid unless your absolutely stuck !
