This is an older style hotel with creaky floorboards etc, but comfortable and the staff are friendly. Unfortunately the car park is completely inadequate for this size of hotel, due to the nature of the work we do we are very rarely back before midnight on on returning to the hotel the car park was not only full, but overflowing. The worst thing is that when we’d checked in earlier in the day we had to pay to park £5 for 24 hours, so that was a waist of money, We parked on a wide pavement opposite the hotel, and thought we may be ok, but no, on a Sunday morning the parking enforcement people were out at 7.46am! FFS. I returned to my car at 8.05 am to find a penalty attached to the windscreen. Next time I’m in this area I will not be booking this hotel. I had breakfast, that was ok, but not great, the reason being, and this applies to all Travelodges, it was scrambled eggs! I prefer a fried egg with my breakfast and will always prefer a fried egg, I can’t stand scrambled eggs. Premier Inn do fried eggs!. So if it wasn’t for the parking and the egg issues this would have got a solid 4/5 from me, but it’s got 2/5. I nearly put 1/5, but it was redeemed by the friendliness of the staff and the fact that we were able to grab a nightcap before going to bed as the bar was open till 1am.
