Hilton Garden Inn Austin/Round Rock

The overall cleanliness wasn't good! Dirt in elevator, dirty windows, carpets stained and even the breakfast tables needed a good scrub! Around the corners of the tables had a lot filth and skin-grease.... In the hotel lobby and also in our room where a lot of mosquitoes.... Breakfast staff was very friendly and did a really good job... Whe booked breakfast seperate for 10$ for the two of us, but a lot of people didn't seem to know about the extra cost of the breakfast.... The breakfast cutlery and plates where plastic and it seemed a cheap option.... We didn't stay our second night, we booked a different hotel! We got a refund for our second night and we where promised that the manager would call us about our disappointment, but he never did call! This is our second time at a Hilton garden inn, and twice we found the properties run down, not clean and we will never book this hotel ever again!

Rooms was nice and clean and check-in was easy. You will notice some parking lot noise from the patrons of the restaurants nearby but it wasn’t a problem unless you are an extremely light sleeper. There are a number of places for dining within walking distance of the hotel and Outlet Mall shopping nearby.

Have you stayed in a Tru Hotel before? If so, you know what you're getting. A tiny room. A decent bed and shower. A decent breakfast the next morning. Sometimes, that's all you need. This was my first time in a Tru property. So first, the good. The bed and pillows were fine. A walk in shower, which is a plus in my book. A big flat screen in your room. A nice common area for working. Now the negatives. It's good that they have a common area for working, because there's not much space in the room for working. The little roll away desk was mostly worthless since there's not really enough room to roll it out and work at it. It's good I travel with my own plug in USB ports because I didn't see any in the room. Did I say the room is tiny? According to the internet, my room was 231 square feet. Good thing I didn't have much luggage. You know those tiny houses you've seen on TV? Kind of like that. Breakfast was fine. Not the best hotel breakfast I've had, but better than others. Some interesting toppings for your oatmeal or pancakes. Almond milk. This may seem trivial to you, but one reason for the three star review was the fact that the single ice machine on the property was out of order. When I asked about ice at the front desk, I got an apology. Since they advertise a ”we promise to make it right or we'll cover your night” guarantee, I was tempted to hold them to it and see what they'd do. In the end, I simply decided that next time, I'll stay at the Springhill Suites or the Courtyard that are night next door. One more thing to note. There are five or six local restaurants/bars within walking distance. For our Friday night stay, that meant this area was very busy with lots of cars lining the streets.
Holiday Inn Austin North - Round Rock

Stayed here two different nights. The first time was decidedly mediocre at a great rate. It felt better than a motel but not what you’d expect from the brand. The lobby and inside were sp**** but clean. The bar looked great. Some oddities the first night were a skunky musty smell on the second floor. The ice machine had also appeared to have been removed after it broke and replace with a sign to go upstairs (classy). The room was outdated but functional. There is FedEx depot next store and unless you close the blinds it will seem light daylight all night (not exaggerating). Also a bit of noise from that direction. The second night we received a different room and this is where the fun began. Looked like a bad DIY job in the bathroom that led to water flooding everywhere. I’d wouldn’t have been okay with this out of a cheap motel much less a Holiday Inn. The breakfast was the amongst the worst I’ve encountered with hotels. The saving grace was yogurts and cold cereal. If you get the right rate consider this hotel... but I wouldn’t pay Holiday Inn prices.
