We arrived on the Tuesday afternoon and check in was confusing. After standing around for 5 minutes my husband found a member of staff who showed us our room, handed us our keys, told us basic breakfast instructions and hurridly left. The hotel looks like it is in the process of being done up a little, shame our room had flaky paint, loose door handle and bathroom door dragged on the carpet, wallpaper coming off. Clean, comfortable bed, but very dusty room, curtains, wall and ceiling light all covered in dust which aggravated my husband's asthma. The cleaner needs to get into the nooks and crannys. The bathroom was dusty around the radiator and bath edges and skirting boards dirty. The hotel is literally burning money with the heating,ALL RADIATORS in the hotel are on 24 hours a day and it is so hot. Our radiator could not be regulated so 5 was as hot as 1 so in the end we just turned it off. Only one of the windows could be opened. Breakfast room had small fridge with fresh juice/milk etc which as there was only an hour window for breakfast could be out on the sides in jugs. Alot of the guests were elderly so would be easier for them. The breakfast itself was lovely with good fresh food and choice of menu and the young girl serving, very polite. Brick dust on skirting board in breakfast room for duration of our stay, again, dust a problem! Did not eat here in the evening so cannot comment on food but bar area modernised and looks lovely. Plenty of car parking space at rear. Unfortunately for us, will not return due to the heating and cleaning issues but the hotel is in a prime location and has plenty of potential.
