Nice place to stay
Red Roof Inn Detroit - Roseville/ St Clair Shores
3.3/596 Reviews
I stayed at this Red Roof because it had good reviews on Trip Advisor and was as close to a reasonable price as I could get. I would not stay again. Most importantly, I did not feel safe. Check in was through one of those late night gas station type windows with the slide under slot (while was still light out). Signs and notices were frequent about the use of safes for belongings and not being responsible for them otherwise. That was not a good start. The doors and locks did not feel substantial given these signs. The room was mildly renovated, but there were signs everywhere that issues were just covered up...water damage/rust spots in the bathroom, nonworking lights, and so forth. The room smelled musty. My white socks were dirty from the floor in minutes. There was dust/debris in corners. My chair had multiple burn holes. The bed was not comfortable. It took me using three pillows to make one good one. The towels were one step above sandpaper. There are small black squirrels everywhere outside that are too comfortable with humans and hide just soon enough that you see their tails slip behind wherever they hid in the hallway or landscaping. I don't expect a red roof inn to be the Hilton or even a Hampton inn. I do expect clean and comfortable and safe. I did not get any of those at this stop. The location is right off the highway and near several stores and fast food places. The other hotels nearby did not look better from the outside. I would stay in a different location.
Super 8 by Wyndham Roseville/Detroit Area

If you need a place to stay.....keep driving. This was the absolute worst Super 8 Hotel we have ever stayed in. Upon arriving, we needed to use the restroom. We were informed that there were no public restrooms. What hotel doesn't have restrooms in the lobby. When we were given our room card, it was evident that the small envelop that held the card had been used many times before. It has filthy. As we entered the hallway the entire place reeked of cigarette smoke. When we entered the room, I immediately noticed that the bedspread had stains all over it. I took that off the bed only to reveal a blanket that was full of burn holes. We were literally there to sleep, otherwise I would have left. The sheets were clean. I didn't pay too much attention to the bathroom that night. But in the morning when I went to take a shower I discovered that the bathtub was filthy. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The bottom of the tube was black and there were long black hairs everywhere. I turned the shower on as hot as is would go to make me feel better about stepping in, only to see that the bottom of the shower curtain was also black. After showering I reached for a towel. The towel had a hole in it larger than my fist and had 4 large brown stains on it. I used hand towels to dry off. If this hotel had a breakfast, like most Super 8's, I couldn't say because the people checking me in didn't mention it and I definitely wouldn't have eaten there based on the smell of the hotel and the filth in my room. We have stayed in many Super 8's across the country and have never had such a bad experience.

The room was comfortable and clean. Due to covid no amenities. And coffee was the only option at the breakfast room. But the overall hospitality was great. I would use their services again in the future.
