The Hive Hotel

Termini Central Station Rome|1.5km from Santi Giovanni e Paolo
Great location. Any major attraction can be reached within 20 minutes. Spacious room with a very comfortable mattress. Very helpful staff both at the reception and during room service. We initially had a corner room, but found it a little noisy for us. At the reception they changed it without any problems for another one. There are several good restaurants nearby. Reception's recommendations were also excellent. The hotel does not have its own parking lot, but in the same building on the base floor there is a garage (not the hotel), which can be accessed without entering the ZTL zone. Price 35 euros per day. But opposite the garage there is a paid city parking lot, where you can also leave your car. To get into the hotel from a garage or parking lot, you need to call from downstairs so that a receptionist will come and open the door to the elevator hall. We liked the breakfast. There was a bit of a lack of variety in egg dishes, but there was plenty of other stuff. I think the main disadvantage is the paid gym and spa. And if the spa is somehow explainable, then the gym is usually free for hotel guests. The price for visiting guests is 9 euros. Restaurant is fine. You get the voucher with 20% discount when check-in so the price becomes reasonable. Overall we enjoyed our time at the hotel and will return here again. Rose Garden Palace Roma by Omnia Hotels

Via Veneto Rome|2.41km from Santi Giovanni e Paolo
We enjoyed a 3 night stay at Rose Palace. The front desk gave us tired travelers a warm welcome that made us relax immediately. Our room overlooked the back of the American Embassy with guards stationed outside 24/7 so it was definitely safe. The hotel is a little off the beaten path from the usual touristy spots in Rome but in a very quiet area. The room was very clean. We had 3 in our room and the 3rd person had to sleep on a full size pull out couch. It was comfy for a pull out (you couldn’t feel the bar under the mattress) but unless you put up the bed every day the only place to sit were the beds. It had a small fridge and the bathroom was updated but limited on counter space around the sink. The buffet breakfast was geared toward a variety of tastes. Scrambled eggs, a variety of pastries, orange juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, cheese, meat, etc. When the weather was nice we enjoyed sitting outside in the garden. There is a tiny grocery store called Co-op around the corner where you can buy the basics. Also on the next block is an ATM in the alcove of the bank entrance that seemed secure to use. Reading older reviews we thought there was a restaurant in the hotel serving dinner but it turned out to just be a small bar. So we walked a couple of blocks north and ate at Cesarina and enjoyed a good meal and friendly staff. There were a lot of other restaurants to pick from in a 2-3 block radius. The ones on Via Vittorio Veneto appeared to be more expensive than the ones northeast of the hotel. There is a taxi stand a couple of blocks away and we used both Uber and inTaxi for rides back to the hotel.

Appartamenti MarcoAurelio49

Colosseo Rome|0.37km from Santi Giovanni e Paolo
We visited Rome for the first time in July 2023. We are a family with kids 12 and 15 years old. So what we needed was a family room capable of housing us all comfortably. Looking at different options finally found MarcoAurelio49. Although not a hotel they still offer breakfast and have reception which is open until 11pm. Also the location intrigued us, just 5 mins walk from the Colosseum. First, arriving; looked into Leonardo express from Fiumicino, that would’ve cost us 40 Euros plus you probably need a taxi from Termini or you need to take Metro and walk some with all the luggage. MarcoAurelio49 can arrange you a taxi from airport for an affordable price (either a sedan or van). Van was best for us because of our luggage and it was only 75 Euros, to front door of the apartment building (you pay to the driver, reserve cash for this). The staff is young and they speak good English. They give you a helpful map of the area, explain the public transport of Rome, point the main tourist attractions and can recommend you restaurants. Our room was at the top floor, great space, and had a big balcony with nice views. The bathroom has a hand shower next to toilet (no bidet) which suited us because as Finns we are used to that. Note that the apartment doesn’t have liquid soap or shower gel but there is a 24/7 store not far where you can buy those (and what ever you need). The breakfast is ordered using a web form the day before. It is very basic, but includes coffee pods (for the machine, there is also tea in the room), packaged ready toasted bread (this was a bit strange to us, the room has a toaster so buy toast from the store if you wish to toast bread yourself), fresh croissants, cereals and juice boxes. You get the breakfast bag yourself from the reception each morning. You can ask for cleaning, emptying the trash cans or change of linens if you need them. There is a kitchen with all the pans etc. if you wish to cook yourself (we didn’t). Kettle to boil water and microwave are also there. When we visited it was really hot every day, well over 30 degrees celsius, actually closer to 40 (35-37) so it was an excellent test for the AC in the room. Happy to tell you it worked like a charm. The room was nice and cool (you can control the AC with a remote) and it was like an oasis for us after long hot days seeing the sights. Also makes sleeping comfortable. The location of this apartment is very good. Colosseum 5 minute walk away. Also the Colosseo metro station from where you can travel to other destinations like closer to Vatican etc. We recommend you walk to the other side of the river and explore there the Trastevere area. Bocca Della Verita is also towards the river and not terribly far away. Then some negatives, that prevented us giving 5 out of 5 stars. The beds are pretty hard, at least too hard for our tastes. Second, the shower had sometimes a little trouble giving warm water. One night my wife couldn’t take a shower because there was only cold wat

Maximus resident was wonderfull. We booked a room and thr address was another building. It took us a long time to find the office because the address on the booking was different than the office. When we found the office, they gave us a room with 57 stair steps and no view and no lift. After complaining, thr switched us to another building and great place with kitchen and 10 star view of the collocium. We were very happy. Very great place. I would give 10 star if I could.

I stayed in a triple room with a friend for one night, and we chose the structure as a support for the long return journey that was expected. Documents were asked for me via WhatsApp, and contact via e-mail was avoided, while expressing my willingness to use an official channel for communication after sending them via e-mail to the specified address. However, communication continued via instant messaging, which I have seen as a lack of professionalism. The room was small to be a triple (fortunately we were in two!); the bathroom was very small, missing bidet and also a small shower floor to put soap and detergent during use, obliged us to support them on the ground in the they were only present with heavy tents, so opening the window could not make natural light in without renouncing privacy. The mattress was particularly hard, and the coats both too soft. The only white cover in the box was dressed with red-brown-coloured shirts, not recommended to those who look for a large and clean room.

The landlord was very lazy. He just checked in and stood at the door for more than an hour, but he didn't answer the phone. He asked for the city tax but was courteous. He had to be several times a day. No one came, and he asked for money. The living is not convenient, it feels like sharing, not soundproofing, it is not recommended

The apartment was very spacious with several bedrooms and bathrooms - enough to accommodate our large family of 6. There was a small functioning kitchen with sink, stove, fridge. There is a washer but no dryer and clothes take at least 2-3 days to fully air dry so keep in mind. The most magnificent part about this apartment is the terrace with a view of Rome- we enjoyed many evenings watching the sun go down. One of our favorite things about this apartment was the little cafe outside that daily served a very affordable breakfast with cappucino daily. The staff was friendly, spoke Italian and English and was extremely helpful. All in all a very delightful experience!

The landscape and the location are good. I don’t think it’s good to look at the arena in bed. The service is very good, the room is clean and there should be, because it is not satisfied with another one temporarily set up in the Roman arena, so that the whole Rome travel mood is getting better. Ctrip price is about 400 cheaper than booking, which is also amazing. The sofa bed is very comfortable and the two dolls like it. There should be no parking lot, many taxis at the entrance to the city center to go to the sights are walking distance

Great location. Clean and tidy accomodation and a nice kitchen area for a hot drink. Fridges in your room can be filled by nearby supermarket. You need to ring ahead or text with arrival time. A 5 minute walk to catch big bus. Restaurants get more expensive the closer you get to the Colosseum. It is the perfect base. Watch the trains though..especially busy ones with people holding bags on their fronts...that was the closest I have been to losing my atuff! Not to deter though as this our third visit and the best accommodation.
