Best Hotels near Church of St Andrew on the Quirinal, Rome

We stayed at Hotel Torino with a group. I would not recommend this hotel. The bed mattresses were completely worn out, no blankets on bed so we had to use ancient bedspreads. Hot water took 10 min to reach shower but if you tried to add cold to adjust temp, all hot water vanished. The hot shower was a trickle. Bathroom shampoo was powered and unusable. Breakfast was mediocre - fresh fruits were non-existent, coffee was not good, pastries were unappetizing, and boiled eggs severely over cooked. Thank goodness for the the granola which was delicious. Very few breakfast options nearby so we were stuck with the hotel choices. Our 7th floor room did not automatically lock, so room had to be locked from inside with key as well as locked with key whenever we left room. Other rooms in hotel did not have this issue. Keys had hotel name and room number plastered on the keychain which is a security issue if lost. Wifi dropped constantly. The safe did work and the room was made up each day (though our group had varied experience with housekeeping making up the rooms). If we had not been with a group, we would have left and found new accommodations.

The hotel is located very near to the Termini Station with easy access to most locations in Rome. The rooms have a bit of old-style charm and are spacious and comfortable, especially when travelling with multiple family members. The buffet breakfast at the top floor offers a wide variety of good-quality items, and is truly a highlight at this hotel. The service staff is friendly and attentive, and will rush to your aid when experiencing any difficulties. The cleaning staff helped us when we were having issues with the key, and the desk staff helped us change to a different room without any questions asked. Truly very friendly.

In no particular order: - The wallpaper was peeling - The woodwork was chipped and dirty - The decor and furniture seemed to be a time machine to the late seventies/early eighties - You had to keep signing into the wifi, even while just sitting in the room - The fridge was ancient and barely worked (once we had actually plugged it in because it wasn't when we arrived) - The bed was uncomfortable - The bed linen consisted of a sheet, a bobbly synthetic blanket and a bed cover more suitable for Nonna - Unlike *every* other hotel or B&B I've ever stayed in, there was no kettle, tea or coffee - The air conditioning was like being breathed on by a mouse and the vent was dirty - The room was right next two elevators and a stairwell, so we were treated to random clanks and knocks during the night - The room was right above the entrance onto a busy street, so if you opened the window for some air we suffered a wide selection of traffic and other noises as well as pollution - The picture of the Virgin above the bed looking down on us was just downright dusturbing - The switches for the lights above the bed were behind the headboard, so if you moved at all in bed you flicked them on or off - The bathroom was was damp, windowless and dank - The doors to the tiny shower cubicle leaked all over the floor (not helping with the above) - The jets of water from the shower head were so narrow and hard it felt more like a water cutting machine at all but the tiniest nudge of the lever (which I kept bashing as I washed myself, either making the water scalding hot or turning it off altogether) - But most of all, *most of all*, the room stank! Properly smelled. A situation not helped by the air-conditioning, the extractor fan or opening the window. It was like a strong wave hitting you every time we opened the door. Though the ceiling was nice. And it is within reasonable walking distance of a lot of sights. It probably didn't help that - judging by the fire evacuation plan - we appeared to have the smallest room in the hotel. I think the linen cupboard just down the hall may have been more spacious. Certainly it would have smelled better. This is a hotel seriously in need of a refurb, some basic maintenance and a bit of care and attention. As it stands I am surprised they have the gall to charge what they do, or call it a four star. I've stayed in nicer bunkhouses

This is a very good and very special hotel, good location, good service, good management, breakfast is very good, but the air-conditioning system is very very poor, if you are not afraid of hot people, you can enjoy it here, But if you are afraid of heat, then it is best not to come to this hotel in the summer.

Really convenient location with only 3-min distance to Roma Termini giving you quick and easy transfer to the airport and elsewhere in Italy by train. Rooms have been renovated too. However, front desk staff was really rude. When I dropped my room keys in the transparent plastic box placed on the front desk for an express check-out and turned around leaving the hotel, staff shouted at me asking me to wait in line. The staff said I haven’t cleared my payment and tried to charge me full room rate plus city tax even though I have prepaid the room rate to Agoda in full. True that I haven’t paid city tax but they have swiped my credit card upon check-in or they could have asked me to pay upon check-in either. I suggested the hotel should have hided their express check out box if there is no such option available. The staff bluntly replied it is for guests who have cleared all the payment. It is really ironic who can enjoy express check out, if the hotel doesn’t charge city tax upfront nor charge it to credit card. Meanwhile, the room cleaning is so-so and forgot to refill shampoo/shower gel/fresh tower quite a few times during our stay. Also, the windows isn’t good at isolating street noise. Deserves to be a five-star hotel, the service is amazing, and the bedding is very comfortable. Excellent location right on top of the Spanish steps. Because I booked six nights, I got a free room with a small balcony. As soon as I entered the room, I was pleasantly surprised. There were welcome fruits and a welcome card with my name printed on it (still bilingual in Chinese and English). The cleaning service is professional and clean. Free water and chocolate every day and a bottle of red wine. There is a Mixing restaurant on the sixth floor of the hotel. Unfortunately, I did not go to taste this time. Before I left, I went to the restaurant on the first floor of his house. Angus steak was superb and delicious. In short, such a hotel is worth going to Rome again.

The hotel is lovely and clean, and air conditioning included. Breakfast is good. Good location to Termini, where you can get a train directly to the airport. There are a couple of lovely Italian restaurants just around the corner. Close to the metro also, but be very careful, full of pick pockets. We walked to colleuseum from hotel. The Trevi fountain, Spanish steps are walking distance too, but you might want to take a coffee break half way. The host is lovely and very friendly. Room was cleaned every day. Very happy with our stay at the hotel.

We had never experienced this concept. A large apartment with access to a kitchen where breakfast is available: coffee, chocolate tea, milk, water, carcuterie eggs, bread, winemakers, milk products ... You serve and you will consume in your room. We were welcomed on the first day by a young girl who gently presented the different points of interest of the city. The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable, and it is very good to stay in the hotel. Including the day of our departure, we would have liked to exchange a few of this stay.

I would have liked to rate the hotel as 4.5* however our room was at the front of the hotel and even with the windows shut it was very noisy from the large road junction outside, plus there was noise from other residents and tvs in other rooms, maybe some soundproofing needs to be carried out. That having been said the location was excellent, an easily walkable distance to main attractions, plus a metro stop is directly outside the hotel. The area felt safe at night and there some very good restaurants to try which are only minutes away. Should you wish to go shopping then there are plenty of non-designer shops to choose from nearby including a very good department store called COIN. Our room was a good size and had a lovely bathroom. The bed was large and extremely comfortable, the linen was super soft. Cleaning through the hotel was of a high standard. Breakfast was excellent, everything you might want and the most delicious scrambled eggs I have ever had in a hotel. There were salads, pastries, cakes, fresh fruit, yoghurts, different cured meats and cheeses, sausages and bacon and vegetarian options. Top marks for the hard working breakfast staff. A great start to the day. Staff generally were friendly and helpful. At reception were snacks and drinks to welcome you which was a nice gesture. The hotel also has a small restaurant, ideal for lunches or if you are too exhausted to leave the hotel at night. We had pizzas and salads there a couple of times for lunch and they were very good. The reception area is good with couches, they will look after your baggage if you have a late flight. A very enjoyable stay.

I'm sure that each of us has his own scale of factors to evaluate whether a place is beautiful or ugly but that the added value is the people. In this clean, nice and very comfortable hotel, near the Roma Termini station, it is precisely the people who make a small hotel a point of reference for our trips to Rome. Paola from the reception was, and is, the person who followed us during the booking process and who went out of her way to help us project our photographs on a wall, in a small room set up just for us, a small group of photographers arrived in town for a two day photography course.
