Dom Hotel Roma - Preferred Hotels & Resorts

Navona Rome|0.05km from Museum of Criminology
This atmospheric and well located hotel is at the very top of our list of hotels to stay in while in Rome. We needed to be at the Vatican everyday; this hotel was perfectly positioned so that we could easily access the Vatican on foot - and also so close to Campo de Fiore and Piazza Navona and the Pantheon (and surrounding neighborhoods), it was easy to find wonderful food after a short walk. (It was also an easy walk to the Forum and the Colosseum). Our double deluxe room was large, with huge windows, an extremely comfortable and large bed and plenty of storage (a built in closet). The bathroom was quite big with good lighting and an excellent hair dryer. Breakfast at the hotel is not to be missed - it was lavish (and was included in our stay) and changed every day (there were always different pastries, quiche, tiny breakfast sandwiches, along with a 'permanent' bar of cereals, juices, the MOST delicious fruit and yogurts). I believe that most of their breads and pastries were made on premise - which is very impresive, given how good they were! The hotel was exceedingly clean in all aspects and the staff was truly wonderful - happy and attentive. I read previous complaints about noise from the carabinieri stationed across the street in front of their building - but it seems that the hotel has installed soundproof windows, so it was easy enough to create a quiet room. It's a lively neighborhood (although this section of Via Giulia isn't lined with bars and restaurants), but the spillover from nearby establishments can sound like a party if you choose to open your windows. We found Hotel Dom very comfortable and accommodating and highly recommend it.

Bio Hotel Raphael - Relais & Châteaux

Navona Rome|0.51km from Museum of Criminology
We're still trying to reconcile the fact that this hotel is a Relais & Chateaux property because the experience was so extremely mediocre. We've stayed in properties around the world and have never encountered such a three-star property. The best way to characterize it is if a Radisson Blu tried to be a luxury hotel. But rather than provide impressions, I'll just share some specifics: Pros: - good central location - quiet Cons: - politely, indifferent service: before we came, we asked them about the parking situation because we were arriving in a car. They gave us two options, self-park a little ways a way or the hotel could park it for us. We asked the hotel to park it, but they did not warn us that they are on a one way street that is difficult to navigate, so we ended up going around in circles (Google Maps tried to lead us down an alley that was half the width of a standard car). When I got out of the car to ask, the front desk was astonishingly indifferent, also pointing out that the only way to arrive at the hotel was to drive through a street that was prohibited for non-locals (which is different than the response we got via email). - the room: tiny and felt like a radisson blu. there is no coffee machine in the room, only a cheap hotpot and teabags. (not a big deal but this should be standard issue at this level). capsule coffee is available by the front desk. - shampoo and soap are in cheap plastic dispensers that are attached to the bathroom walls. You squeeze the bottle to get some. The quality of both were unremarkable. The shampoo and conditioner. I understand that small bottles are wasteful. However, at this level, there are better ways to present this. They might take a lesson from Aman properties, who puts branded products in very nice dispensers. - bathtub is very narrow and the ”rain forest” shower on one end is attached so far to the edge that you have to stand partly on the sloped edge to fully stand under the water. - box of tissues was empty except for a couple tissues stuffed in at the top (which shows that the cleaning person knew it was empty) - the bathroom was so small that the towel holder was right next to the shower head inside the glass enclosure. - the bed/mattress: the hotel has the weirdest feature ever, which is that it has an outdated adjustable feature that ”lets” you move the head, foot and middle of the mattress. It's a feature that no one looks for in a hotel bed, and because the technology is so old, it's not great. Long story short, the mattress actually never laid exactly flat, so I had the most uncomfortable sleep. The foot of the bed was a little raised, so it felt like the middle of my body was in a hole. On top of that, the bed had an extremely soft mattress pad (as if you're sleeping on a bunch of comforters). If you like a firm bed, this is a non-starter. The only explanation for this hotel still being a Relais & Chateaux is that they have not done an inspection in a long time

Rose Garden Palace Roma by Omnia Hotels

Via Veneto Rome|2.38km from Museum of Criminology
We enjoyed a 3 night stay at Rose Palace. The front desk gave us tired travelers a warm welcome that made us relax immediately. Our room overlooked the back of the American Embassy with guards stationed outside 24/7 so it was definitely safe. The hotel is a little off the beaten path from the usual touristy spots in Rome but in a very quiet area. The room was very clean. We had 3 in our room and the 3rd person had to sleep on a full size pull out couch. It was comfy for a pull out (you couldn’t feel the bar under the mattress) but unless you put up the bed every day the only place to sit were the beds. It had a small fridge and the bathroom was updated but limited on counter space around the sink. The buffet breakfast was geared toward a variety of tastes. Scrambled eggs, a variety of pastries, orange juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, cheese, meat, etc. When the weather was nice we enjoyed sitting outside in the garden. There is a tiny grocery store called Co-op around the corner where you can buy the basics. Also on the next block is an ATM in the alcove of the bank entrance that seemed secure to use. Reading older reviews we thought there was a restaurant in the hotel serving dinner but it turned out to just be a small bar. So we walked a couple of blocks north and ate at Cesarina and enjoyed a good meal and friendly staff. There were a lot of other restaurants to pick from in a 2-3 block radius. The ones on Via Vittorio Veneto appeared to be more expensive than the ones northeast of the hotel. There is a taxi stand a couple of blocks away and we used both Uber and inTaxi for rides back to the hotel.

The Hive Hotel

Termini Central Station Rome|2.49km from Museum of Criminology
Great location. Any major attraction can be reached within 20 minutes. Spacious room with a very comfortable mattress. Very helpful staff both at the reception and during room service. We initially had a corner room, but found it a little noisy for us. At the reception they changed it without any problems for another one. There are several good restaurants nearby. Reception's recommendations were also excellent. The hotel does not have its own parking lot, but in the same building on the base floor there is a garage (not the hotel), which can be accessed without entering the ZTL zone. Price 35 euros per day. But opposite the garage there is a paid city parking lot, where you can also leave your car. To get into the hotel from a garage or parking lot, you need to call from downstairs so that a receptionist will come and open the door to the elevator hall. We liked the breakfast. There was a bit of a lack of variety in egg dishes, but there was plenty of other stuff. I think the main disadvantage is the paid gym and spa. And if the spa is somehow explainable, then the gym is usually free for hotel guests. The price for visiting guests is 9 euros. Restaurant is fine. You get the voucher with 20% discount when check-in so the price becomes reasonable. Overall we enjoyed our time at the hotel and will return here again. Hotel Indigo Rome - ST. George

Originally lived in the Flower Square, temporarily moved over. Rome is expensive and crowded, it is not easy to book a satisfactory hotel in Rome, plus it is the peak season, it is really difficult to choose. Now let's evaluate George Indigo this time: 1. Location: The hotel is still in the historical center, this location is still more convenient; 2. Room: Don't expect the room to be big in Rome (except for money and willfulness), this room is already big, the bed is big enough, and the mattress is comfortable; 3. Breakfast: breakfast is average. But it seems that the Italian breakfast is like this, there are not many types, bread, egg, ham, sausage, yogurt, anyway, there are several kinds of each. Can't compare with domestic. Can eat enough. 4. Service: Service is still warm and professional. Professional. Overall: Overall it is not bad. This time we stayed in Italy for 20 days, and we stayed in Rome for 6 or 7 days. The old local hotels in the 16th century have also lived, the B&B apartments have also lived, and the resort hotels have also lived. This international brand group hotel chain is relatively stable, not too amazing, But there will be no big omissions, (there are always surprises or surprises in the homestay) Going to Rome in the future should include options.

Domus Giulia

I stayed in this small B&B for 6 nights late September-early October. Location: fantastic! In the historic centre, the Northern part of Campo di Fiori neighbourhood. Almost by the river and just a stone throw’s away from Castel Sant’Angelo. It was so easy to walk almost everywhere. A few bus stops just around he corner (one is right in front of the building) serving several different lines. It's a residential building and Domus Giulia is on the second floor (there is a lift). The staff leaves at 7 pm and comes back in the morning and the way it works is that you’ll be given a key to your room, a key to the B&B’s door and a code for the front door. On work days during “office hours” there is a doorman/guard by the front door. The building felt very safe at all hours, even very late at night. It’s quite a peaceful location. Room: I had a large, well-equipped room with a large bed. Great big pillows. Housekeeping came every day and kept everything nice and clean. There was free wifi, safety deposit box, kettle with tea bags and coffee packets, minibar, closet, desk and chair and also a good number of mirrors which was very much appreciated. The bathroom felt new-ish as it was quite pristine. There was a walk-in shower, bidet and complimentary toiletries. The only negative things I have to say about the room is that the TV didn’t work, no matter how hard one of the staff members tried to fix it on the first day when I let her know. So I ended up having no working TV during the whole stay but in the grand scheme of things it didn’t really matter – I didn’t spend much time in my room anyway. :) The other thing is that the laundry service seems to use a pretty strong-smelling laundry detergent or fabric softener on the linens. Breakfast: pretty good. There was toast, croissants, butter, jams and Nutella, cheese, cold cuts, cereal, yogurt, boiled eggs, juices, fruits, some kind of sweet item every day (such as a bundt cake) and coffee made to order which I liked very much. The only thing I would add would be some other kind of bread besides the toast. Last but not least, the staff: so amazingly friendly and helpful! I often stopped for a little chat on my way out. The ladies running the place are the stars. Thank you for a nice week in the heart of Rome!
