The room was quite small but don’t let that put you off, it’s big enough for what you require for a nice stay while visiting Rome. The hotel is in a side street in a private court yard, we were in room 106 which was up one flight of stairs inside a doorway that had a little corridor with about 4 more rooms. The room was really clean, nice big shower but not very private if your travelling with a friend, you can see into the shower from the bedroom. Cooker and sink with tea and coffee machine, glasses and utensils. The staff were friendly but no one was at reception between 6 at night and 9 in the morning, if you needed help there was a phone number to ring. Room was cleaned every day, fridge had water that was free. We enjoyed our stay here, the hotel was in a great position close to attractions, quiet side road but just round the corner were bars and restaurants, we would stay here again next time in Rome

Trevi
This new hotel is perfectly positioned in the centre of Rome - only 5 minutes walk from Trevi, 10 minutes from the Pantheon and about 10 minutes from Colosseum. They have a (rather expensive) rooftop bar that offers stunning views of Rome and is well worth a visit. Our room was large (25 sq m) and beautifully decorated/furnished. The only quirk to mention was that we could not close the plug in the bathroom hand basin. Reception explained that this was a 'safety' feature as there was no overflow for the basin. This meant I had to leave water running while I shaved and also when we washed clothing. Not a very good idea from a conservation point of view, with a lot of waste water (perhaps it's recycled?) Breakfast was ok/good - usual cold selection plus what should be a 'hot' a la carte selection which, in our experience, was lukewarm when it reached us. Also on several days, when I asked for a second cup of coffee the waiters forgot it and after 10 minutes waiting I had to ask again. When we checked in the receptionist asked if our vacation was for some special reason. I told him the trip to italy was to celebrate a milestone birthday, to which he responded that the hotel would provide a 'surprise' present during our stay. This never materialised and it would have been better if he had not enquired/promised in the first place!! Overall a beautiful hotel in a brilliant location but service levels (especially in their price range) need some work.

Trevi
Probably rated a 5 on European standards, but a few things missing from American standards. It was a very lovely suite, very clean and friendly, helpful staff. We arrived very early and they allowed us to store our luggage and then delivered to our room when it was ready as we explored Rome. Fantastic location - on a quiet side street but very close to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. The few minor negatives were no English speaking tv channels, limited outlets for charging devices and no mini bar or restaurant. Would definitely stay here again

Their ad on ******* claim that there is staff on site daily from 7 AM to 9 - this is a lie. We showed up to an empty building with no staff and spent the next several hours calling, emailing, messaging through *******. We called ******* for help and they attempted to contact someone. We were JUST about to leave and find a different hotel when a very unhelpful man finally showed up. When we explained we had been waiting for hours he told us it was our own fault we showed up early. I explained our train times changed and he asked “why didn’t you call?” 😑 I then showed him my phone log showing the 100 times I attempted to call during the hours we stood outside waiting. Next he advised due to electrical issues the room I booked (and paid for) Room 126 was unavailable and that we’d have to stay in a tiny room (the size of a closet) We were exhausted so we said fine/whatever. The room was ridiculously small but considering the “hotel” was non-refundable we had no choice. We filled out the free breakfast slip and hung it on our door. The next morning - No breakfast. The same unhelpful man told us “you should have filled out the breakfast slip.” And we advised that we did… and that it was collected. Moments later a couple checked out of room 126 and we asked the rude staff man “I thought that room was having electrical issues? You told us that’s why we got the tiny room ..” and the man denied ever telling us that. 🤯😡 We finally checked in to room 126 and it was much larger than the prison cell room but the air conditioning did not work. When we inquired we were told once again “the hotel is having electrical issues but they cannot be fixed because it’s a weekend .” So we asked “but you just told us that the hotel wasn’t having electrical issues, even though we saw you clearly booked someone else in the room I paid for.” All in all we felt very disrespected and lied to and the overall experience was appalling and atrocious. Lie after lie after lie after lie. This is not a hotel, it’s one floor or an old dirty building with 8 rooms, not 13 like they advertise on ******* and most of the time there is no staff on site so guests are left to their own devices. Not only will I NEVER stay here again, I plan on submitting complaints. Do yourself a favor and choose another hotel, unless you enjoy being humiliated and lied to. The ONLY nice staff member was the lovely Italian woman cleaning guest rooms. We left her a tip and thanked her.

The room was small but clean and the bathroom was quite big. There are many attractions nearby and we are all walking. There are not many types of breakfast, basically bread, but there are a lot of sauces, and it is delicious with bread. The favorite is the juice of the restaurant, which is great! Yogurt and coffee are not bad. Every time we leave the restaurant, we will take an apple or yogurt, the waiter will laugh and say goodbye, very warm!
Hotel Bolivar

The Hotel Bolivar saved our stay in Rome. The place we'd originally booked turned out to be Not As Billed, and after some desperate phone calls, we found a room at the Bolivar, and were so happy we did. The location is quiet, but central-- we walked everywhere. The service was attentive and friendly. The breakfast was generous (and the breakfast staff gets special praise!). Our room was lovely, with stars on the ceiling, and very clean. Was it super-trendy? No. Was it comfortable and attractive? Yes! Thank you for rescuing us, Hotel Bolivar!
