Rome Municipio XII – Monte Verde Hotels

We arrived at Roma camping in town on weds after a very long journey. The woman on reception was extremely dismissive and not very helpful when we asked questions. The room that we stayed in was not what was advertised when we booked and there was cheaper accommodation of a higher quality on booking.com. There were no cooking facilities, no kettle and the walls were so thin we were able to hear the people in the next room farting. Neighbours at night were loud and inconsiderate. The campsite is 30 minutes outside of Rome, I strongly advise to get the 247 bus just outside the campsite into Rome, on your return you need to get the bus back at the bus depo which is just around the corner from where you got off. You can buy tickets from the information box. The train station is literally a 5 minute drive, again you can get the 247 on the opposite side of the road and the ticket machine at the station is really easy to use. The supermarket on the other side of the road honestly sells the most amazing food. We bought our lunches from there and even our dinner on the first night. We saved so much money doing this. The pizza in the restaurant was brilliant. The staff were rude and grumpy and didn’t want to be there.

Our delegation of scientists, who came to Rome to participate in the International Scientific Congress, are very dissatisfied with the hotel's service, service and unkind attitude. Due to the cancellation of the flight and the strike of the train service personnel in Milan central station, we arrived late on July 13 instead of July 10 at the mentioned hotel, which we had already purchased from July 10 to July 17. The hotel administration had information about our travel problems, despite the confirmation that we would keep the purchased rooms, they did not wait for us and resold our rooms. When we arrived at the place, instead of empathy and support, they threatened us and showed aggression towards us. i.e. Both our reservation and the money we paid were lost and we got a lot of psychological shock/stress. And after that, of course, we will have only negative comments, especially about the employee Angelica, who was completely rude, and I think that such employees bring down the rating of the hotel, any service provider organization, and the entire country.

Breakfast had a good variety and the room was clean. However, even though I had reserved and paid for a shuttle to the airport on my way home in advance, due to a mistake on the part of the hotel, the reservation was not made. The only response I received was a refund and a call for a taxi.I kept the taxi fare. The response at the reception was not commensurate with the price of the hotel, and was on par with other business hotels around there. I'm sorry.

Where to begin, the B&B Hotel Rome, placed the booking through a 3rd party firm, not something I'd usually choose but seemed okay. Now the hotels actually nice overall. Walls are abit thin so you can hear upstairs on a night like they was in the bathroom next to you, beds comfy, rooms clean and shower room was nice. Pressure and heat all good along with the decent working aircon system. Wasn't in room much to be fair but yea the room we had was okay. Breakfast area looks like some school canteen from 2010 but essentially does the job. Nice coffee and savouries. Not really needed though when outside there is loads of local cafes far cheaper. Bit pointless. Breakfast outside is maybe 5 euros for coffee and pastries. Where this review takes a sudden turn was the end. Started really with the receptionist (staff member). A young man with glasses (polite and well mannered).  Helpful enough at the beginning but was very insistent on getting us to book a taxi back to the airport days in advance, Infact when we arrived it's all he was talking about before giving us the lock code to the room. Now we'd usually do Uber but was told it was early and traffic to that airport can be a nightmare. Ubers may decline jobs etc, The gent was kind enough upto this point to help us with restaurant options and travel plans via busses. So why not use the hotel to book us a cab back to campino airport. So the gentleman said 50 euros. Private taxi. Now 50 euros is alot as ubers about 42 euros in traffic but its booked and private hire with proper taxi driver, Still this was alot but its private and booked so we'll pay 50 euros ... what a bad idea this was!. So After waking up far too early for this highly staged and planned airport run. We arrived to the reception to see a very smiley young cab driver. ”To the airport yes, booked yes, Airporto, Room number ***”. From this we got in the taxi and we was underway. The Jounrey was crazily fast, no need at all to be up so early. No traffic. First daft decision I realised and the overwhelming thought then started setting in. On arriving at the airport the taxi driver turned to us and requested 60 euros for what is at best a 38 euro trip normally, Plus we'd been told 50 remember at reception by the eager staff member booking everyones taxis and telling us everytime he saw us that he had ”booked our taxi” with a cheesy smile. Then also turned out he didn't take card as was mentioned by the hotel worker ... This ended up an awful experience. Alot of shouting and waving hands. Taxi driver very aggressive, Not the best end. And all because we never booked an uber but instead took a staged taxi run from what obviously was the staff members ”Friend” in a taxi. Maybe a deal they have on going. If its not I do apologise but very much seems this way. So now to the owners of the hotel !. You may care or not, but this is going on in the hotel. And it really ruined the end of our holiday. We'll never stay there again. Which is

We stayed here for 10 nights on business and the hotel was lovely apart from the food and beverage options which were dire. I was in a twin room and there was a good amount of space, it was quiet and had all the plugs and amenities you would wish for. The hotel is a little way out of Rome centre so you should factor in prices for taxis each way - there really is nothing around the hotel without a 20 min walk with a significant hill and minimal pavements! The pool area was beautiful - and the spa was pretty good - I had a massage which was quite nice. The big issue, especially with the lack of restaurants around the hotel is the absolutely awful food and beverage service. The bar only does ‘toasties’ which are very expensive and not worth the money. We could not get into the restaurant as it was always ‘booked’ despite a lot of empty tables. When we did look at the menu it was very limited. This is the one thing that would put me off returning - if they improvised this part then the hotel would be a great place to stay.

I stayed here for 3 nights with my friend. 10€ a night was a great deal. Met some fun people at the hostel and had a good time. Location was also convenient with grocery store and bus stop to most places near. My only complaints would be there is extra fee with city tax 10€ each we were not told about. Bathrooms have strange odour, and air conditioning was on all night when it's already quite cold. I ended up getting a cold from the air con. And also me and my friend were 2 women and we were put in 8 bedroom room with only men so was wary of safety, especially since one of the men tried to ask me to sleep with him in the middle of the night! But again the type of customer is not the hostels fault. If you want a cheap place to stay and don’t mind not living in luxury, come here for sure also a great way to meet new people in the city.

We had a really good time in Rome also thanks to our hosts. Location of the appartement was great near to tram,buses and train. Communication with the owners was perfect and they were really helpful and kind,breakfast in a room was nice too. We definitely reccommend Trastevere Paper Suites.
