Amazing

We Free Hostels Roma byłam drugi raz. Polecam z serduszka

The staff were cheerful and bright ✌🏻 There is a shower, but no shampoo etc. so it's best to bring your own. The location and service are great. I'd love to use it again when I come to Rome!

This is the best hostel. All the staff are friendly, kind and easygoing. Breakfast is only 5€ and delicious. They made pasta for us in the evening and we could eat it for free. If I come to Rome again, I will definitely come back here. Thank you!!

There are meals available, a small bar sofa and restaurant, and a small courtyard. It is very close to various attractions in Rome, and you can walk directly to the city center. The front desk speaks good English and the service is very good

The location is good as it is close to the subway station. Arrive at the metro station in about 3 minutes with a lime kickboard. The cubicle bed with door was very cozy and nice. However, there was no elevator in the building, and the toilet lid in the bathroom was broken and rolling around. Towels cost 2 euros.

Exceptional staff and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. I really loved the communal vibe among guests, turning it into more than just a place to stay. The hostel organized evening activities fostering connections. I stayed in a 4-bed dorm room. The bed had a sliding door for extra privacy, comfortable mattress, and spacious storage drawer with a lock. The ensuite bathroom was also spacious. The hostel's location is a dream for avid walkers. I was able to stroll to San Giovanni for the Scala Santa and Basilica San Giovanni di Laterano, as well as to Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore and even further to the Colosseum. The proximity to Manzoni, Vittorio Emanuele, and Termini metros made navigating the city a breeze.

Overall subpar hostel and experience. One main thing I want to call out is to exercise caution when considering their "Best Price Guarantee" as advertised on their website. I attempted to request a price match after discovering that the same dates I had initially booked were available at a lower price three weeks later. Unfortunately, I mistakenly sent the price match request to their Barcelona location and only realized this after my stay had concluded. Upon recognizing my error, I sent a follow-up email to Free Hostels Roma. Much to my disappointment, my request was denied because they only offer price matches with their competitors, such as Hostelworld.com and ***********, and this limitation is not clearly stated anywhere on their website. In summary, here are the key takeaways: 1.Their "Best Price Guarantee" only applies to rates offered by external competitors. Even if you find a better price for the same dates on their official website before the free cancellation period ends, they will not honor the price match. 2.Free Hostels Roma and Free Hostels Barcelona operate independently, with limited communication between them. Had the Barcelona location responded to my email more promptly, I could have canceled my bookings earlier and explored alternative options.

This is the best option for hostel stay in Roma. I was in a 4-bed dorm room, and all beds had sliding doors for extra privacy. When not being used the beds could also be locked from outside. There was a storage drawer under the bed which was very spacious and could be locked using the same key as the bed. The ensuite bathroom was good, but the door didn't seem to close tightly enough, in my opinion, even though the lock worked fine. This was the only negative of my stay really, but the impact wasn't high as I had considerate room-mates. I used the kitchen quite a bit to heat food, and although I didn't participate in staff organised meals, these were a nice touch. The hostel had a secure entrance as well, which I appreciated. The location was really nice too - about a 15-minute walk away from the Roma Termini station. And in the walking distance there are several fantastic restaurants for every budget. I particularly enjoyed a nice Bangladeshi one that was only a 15 minute walk away from the hostel. There was also a huge supermarket about 5min away that I didn't need to use, but appreciated its proximity anyway. Had a great experience overall, and I would stay here again.

Very cool hostel, as always, I come every year, because this is the best hostel in Roma / Italy. Every evening all the people meet in the garden for lunch (free by the hostel). Also the staff is very cool! Lot of spanish people, from latin america, etc.. Also the location I like, not so expensive but you reach all by foot. And they have fassi ice cream around the corner.

In my 4-bed dorm room were all "capsule beds" with sliding doors for a nice privacy which could also be locked from outside (so the bed to be able to use as like a "big locker" in addition to the proper one which is the drawer right below the bed); and yes a nice-length table & a good-sized ensuite bathroom made my 6-night stay in the room I would say quite an agreeable one. And, also a nice hang-out area was the "outdoor terrace" on the ground level with plenty of tables & chairs (just to be aware of some "big flies" & such if having a meal there). And located in something like a "leafy neighborhood" with tree-lined streets, there are also a number of "convenient establishments" around (cafes, restaurants, a supermarket & a barber shop where I got a haircut) among which there was my usual go-to Chinese food place which is a "pretty tiny" one a little hard to find but with quite excellent food items (to the left after coming out of this place, then left again on the big street pretty much right away, then across the street straight ahead when getting to the big intersection where the Manzoni metro station is followed by a left turn on the other side of that street, in all just like a 5-to-10-minute walk from this place to that small restaurant). And if arriving/leaving by train, located at just about a 15-minute walk away is the Roma Termini station (with also a number of places to eat in & around the station including not one but two McDonald's and also a nice Indian restaurant just across the street from the station).

I am so glad I chose this place as my stay in Rome! I felt like I was home here. This was my first time experience in a hostel and I loved it. My room was two person’s bedroom with a toilet. Must say that the best thing of the room for me was the comfortable mattress , very comfy sleep. Also you can have a bit of privacy, which is great. The food (breakfast) may be not the best, but there is a supermarket right next door and leave the food you buy in the fridge, you can use the kitchen freely to prepare something for yourself. That is what I did and it worked well. And the atmosphere around is very warm and welcoming. I miss the people I met there already❤️ Thank you , Free Hostel Roma! I will definitely come back. Oh and about the area : The distance from the Train station to the hostel is around 10-15m walking, bare in mind that like everywhere else in the world train stations look a bit weird. When I arrived I was excited to be in Rome waiting to see the beautiful Rome, but it is not like that. Train station is not dangerous, but may look like it depending when you arrive. I recommend walking to the hostel via Di Porta Maggiore (next to the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele), I walked there at 3am and felt safe.

Let’s just jump in. Pros: - 5 min walk to Manzoni metro station - 15-20 min walk to Termini train station - large drawers with locks in bunk rooms - free bath towel - outlet in bunk - welcome drink and one free dinner included Cons: - LOUD - weird vibe from staff (I wasn’t given a welcome drink coupon because they didn’t have any when I checked in. Staff told me to just ask for my drink when I was ready to redeem. The next evening I went to the bar to redeem my free drink and a different staff member refused to serve me the welcome drink because I didn’t have a coupon. Luckily the staff member who checked me in was there and I ended up getting my drink) - light in my bunk randomly turned on in the middle of the night multiple times & woke me up - bunk is very hot with the door shut - had to sleep with it open about 1/3 of the way to stay cool - uncomfortable, flat pillows - smallest shower I’ve ever been in Overall, my stay was fine for the 3 nights I was there. I’m glad I wasn’t staying longer - I barely slept due to how loud the hostel was at night (I know that’s the nature of a hostel but it’s the loudest hostel I’ve been in). I don’t think I would choose to stay here again unless I was in a pinch and couldn’t find anything affordable or close to metro.
