Hotel Rinascimento - Gruppo Trevi Hotels

My wife and I were booked by Tourcrafters, Libertyville, IL, at this hotel for four nights in September of 2024. The front door of the hotel (see picture to the left) is in an alley. The actual rooms are across the alley. The doors to each room open to the alley. No hallways. The exterior wall of the room is the alley. There are no windows in the room. Drunks sleep in the doorways of the rooms and must be removed by the occupants in order to gain entry. The interior walls are paper thin. You can hear your neighbor breathing. The TV and internet do not work. This place is nowhere near the Trevi Fountain unless you like very long walks. The hotel staff is rude and bullying. The picture of the front door shown here is inaccurate. The actual front door is covered in graffiti and obscenities. My wife was terrified. We left the day after we arrived and stayed at the Hilton Cosmolita which is an actual hotel with extremely nice workers. It was expensive, but well worth it to be able to sleep safely. We requested a refund from Tourcrafters, Libertyville, IL, but have been ignored because they erroneously believe that I will just forget about it and let them keep our money. They are in for a surprise. Bottom line is that this place is a dump. There are plenty of hotels in Rome that have windows and hallways. Pick one and let this hotel go. PS. We did not try the breakfast.

We had a great stay at Hotel Rinascimento. We were greeted by Roger when we arrived, and he told us all of the places that we should see. We really used his map to plan out our days. The hotel room had direct access to the street which we actually enjoyed. Everything was very close by, and we were able to walk to all of the attractions. It's also close to the bus stop if you prefer taking public transportation. We had a great stay and would for sure stay here again in the future!

This was the only bad hotel of our Europe tour. We read the reviews and decided to take a chance bscause of the location, but its true - they send you to a different location about 30 min car ride away. It was a terrible hotel, worst matress, no AC, and no one cared! We arent to fussy, but I did ask if they could help and although we alrsady booked an upgraded room, I offered to pay more for an upgrade but they said that was the best they had. We found another hotel and when we showed up back at the lobby with our bags they suddenly wanted to help. Skip this one folks! There are lofs of good places to stay in Rome. This is a scam where they book you to one hotel but ship you off somewhere else.

I’ll lead this review off with one positive. The location is in a central and walkable area. Everything else about our stay is subpar, and I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone traveling. First, as a few have picked out, the AC in our room does not work. For a “4 star” establishment, this should not be the case. The day person tried to “fix the problem” by controlling the room temperature from the desk. This did not happen, even after several hours of waiting. Where the situation gets worse, is the abusive and uncaring staff. After we bought it to the attention of the night worker, he very rudely said that there was nothing he could do, and told my partner to “calm down” after asking for a new room that had AC that works or for a refund. The “suggestion” is that he marched into the room (uninvited, by the way) and opened the window and said that this is the air conditioning because we have a maintenance problem. The street below us is loud, and now we have no privacy as our window opens to the road below, plus is easy to climb in if one wanted to steal from us in the middle of the night. If I could give this hotel 0 stars, I would. Don’t book here, especially if you’re a foreign traveler and cannot communicate in full Italian. Otherwise the staff will be rude, abusive, and unprofessional.

Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. I do not know how this hotel has 4 stars… we have traveled all over Europe and this is by far the worst hotel we’ve stayed at. This was a 20th anniversary trip. Upon arrival they said we had booked 2 twin beds but would push them together in the am. Front desk staff was very friendly. We had no need to worry as the beds were already pushed together but had twin sheets on instead of one sheet. Its important to note that the reason they were pushed together is that this was the tiniest room imaginable. They were unable to be any further apart. Might make things awkward if you are traveling with a friend. It was claustrophobic how tiny it was. No place to put our suitcases other than the desk, and small table. Had we tried the floor we wouldn’t of had a pathway. I will say the staff were friendly and the cubicle of a room was tidy upon arrival. However I’m not sure if they were short staffed or what only one day was our room cleaned before 3pm. The hall way floor was filthy with big white chunks of something outside our door. They did clean it 2 days later… We only did breakfast 2x out of 4 days due to early tours. The first time we went around 9am… pickings were slim and everything was cold. Coffee was good. The second time we went it was 7am as we had an early train. It was good and hot and had much more to choose from. Location … we picked this hotel thinking it was close to things. There are much closer areas. 25 min walk to Vatican, 20 minute walk to colosseum, trevi fountain 17 min… you get the picture. The street was very cute but loud at night. With the window closed it was quiet but we needed the air flow to make the tiny room not so stuffy. There’s a wonderful little pasta restaurant 2 doors down with the best carbonara ever.

This 4 star called hotel even could not have 1 star. Terrible service at the reception . The rooms are very durty and tiny. Dust is everywhere. The hot water is hardly coming, so you need one hour to take a bath with this slow water. Breakfast is the worst one i have ever had. There is just one lady during breakfast who is doing everything, cooking, cleaning changing. Food is awful and they are serving old croissants, very bed smell was there. I have tried to contact but no one is answering to your emails from this hotel. This is even worst than hostel. People dont go there and waist your money and time never. Beleive me this even no 1 star there.
