While reading a travel blog, I saw the name of this hotel. I followed a link and ended up admiring the room pictures and the descriptions. Literally, they had only one time period for the month of August during which there were available rooms. (Because they have only a few rooms, you book a specific one.) The price was too good to pass up, and we booked 9 days here. Our room was extremely nice, and it offered us extremely clean, comfortable and cared for space to unwind at the end of each long day. I regret that I cannot remember her name, but there is an on-site staff member who went above and beyond from the time we arrived until we departed. She helped arrange transportation, connected us with a laundry service, brought the iron every time and I needed one it, and, most importantly, brought our delicious continental breakfast every morning. (Stop Reading Now, if you don't like too many specific details.) Most Important Meal of the Day The breakfast consists of items such as boiled eggs, juice, toasted ham and cheese sandwich and croissants. (Upon arrival, you get a menu card to leave outside your door at night, and there are enough for every day of your stay.) The croissants are fresh and flaky. There are at least three fillings from which to choose, and we never had one to disappoint. Location, Location, Location The Good: The "hotel" is located in an apartment building. We had brief exchanges with tenants, and they were nice. You could occasionally hear daily life going on--couples arguing, babies crying, etc. There was never any noise to keep us awake. There is a metro station about 15 minutes away. The walk is not horrible, but what we found to be most useful were the buses. We thought we were 7 to 10 minutes away from the best bus route, but we discovered a bus stop practically across the street. With that, we were able to get to many places easily. The only times we took cabs were to get to the meeting spot for our Pompeii/Mt. Vesuvius day trip and to head back to the airport. For both trips, the property staff member (whose name I still cannot remember) arranged the cab service. There are many restaurants very near, and the staff member provided restaurant recommendations. Li Ar Monte is AMAZING, and it's barely a five minute walk, if memory serves me. I cannot remember the name of the recommended gelato place, but TRUST that it is delicious. We went every day. There is a small grocery store on the corner. It was so painfully hot when we were there, that we often dropped in to get refreshing fruit, to replenish bottles of water (OMG their water prices are so much better than ours in America!) and to equip ourselves with miscellaneous items such as bug repellant. This was a convenience we didn't anticipate, and we were grateful for it. The Bad: The elevator had some issues while we were there. I believe it was a result of human error; nonetheless, it was inconvenient for the entirety of our stay. If

The hotel was perfect. Location is right next to metro stations that would take you anywhere you want, but we used metro only two times. We just waked, Circus Maximus only 20 minutes away. Alexander was super helpful and friendly. The room was smartly designed and had everything we needed. Comfy bed too. Price is reasonable for an expensive city like Rome. We had a very pleasant stay here and would definitely book again when we're back in Rome.

This inn is a gem close to everything in Rome. A short walk to Pyramid Metro and Ostiense Train Station, surrounded by great small restaurants and, best of all, providing a peaceful place to rest. We enjoyed breakfast each morning on the terrace---an oasis in the middle of the city. Don't be put off by the graffiti in the neighbourhood. The staff are exceptional and accommodated our late checkin.

My family, friends and I recently booked 6 rooms together at the Althea Roof Top Inn in Testaccio - a working neighbourhood of room close the the important places to visit. We were an easy walk to the Pyramid Metro Station, bus stops, and frequently walked along the river to get to Trastevere, the Jewish Ghetto and Historic Center. Do not let the exterior of the building concern you. You are on the fifth floor, in clean, well decorated and maintained rooms, some with windows only, some with small 2 person balconies, and a few with full well furnished terraces that were a great retreat after long days in the hot Roman sun. The terraces were large enough for our group to gather for wine and snacks after our days. There is some noise from the club at the bottom of the building, but as soon as you close your windows, it is peaceful. In addition to the rooms, the service was outstanding. Alessandra and his team answered all my emails promptly prior to our trip, and they were very helpful with recommendations in the neighbourhood and in Trastevere. They also helped arrange drivers to pick us up from the airport, which was a nice amenity after our 9 hour flights from Canada. Housekeeping did very thorough cleaning of our rooms every day. There is a small elevator to help get luggage up the stairs (or people with mobility issues), but we did not mind to take the stairs. Breakfast every morning was outstanding and delivered to our rooms at the time requested so we could enjoy on our terrace. Coffee, pastries, hard boiled eggs and fruit. Delicious. There are great places to eat in the neighbourhood, a little grocery at the end of the street, and a great place to grab a cocktail outside - the Tram Depot! Given the value, the rooms and the exceptional service, I would highly recommend Althea Roof Top Terrace and we cannot wait to visit again.

We stayed in the room with terrace for 6 nights. A magic place with excellent breakfast with a lot of choices. The staff is fantastic and we got help with taxis all the time and restaurant reservations. It’s 10 meter to a very good selected supermarket and good restaurants & wine bars on the same street and around the corner. We will be back again, soon I hope. Asa & Conny

On the fifth floor of a local apartment building our bedroom was quiet and comfortable. Staff were so helpful and friendly – nothing was any trouble. Each morning we had an amazing breakfast delivered with a smile. Lots of local restaurants nearby and we loved exploring the Testaccio district. Central to everything by bus, Metro or train. Thoroughly recommend. Not your usual impersonal hotel.

A real gem! Cherish and Alesandro went to great lengths to make our stay in Rome memorable. The breakfast served on our terrace was delicious and fresh. Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Both of them went out of their way to handle details like restaurant reservations and help in locating a public swimming pool for us to work off the stress of traveling during a rainy cold late spring. The hotel is convenient to metro and train. It has excellent security. We look forward to a repeat visit. Bravo on creating such a wonderful experience for your guests! We have fond memories of our stay wiht you.

Really lovely place to stay. So nice to have a terrace to relax on after a full day sightseeing. Breakfast was delivered to the room bang on time and was just right. Great location minutes from bus and metro links. We had a great few days here and would not hesitate to fully recommend.
