Thankfully we only stayed one night in this hotel. The photographs on this site must have been photoshopped. This formally 'grand collonial hotel' lacked basic house cleaning. The bedroom had a film of dust and the bedspread was stained. The shower room was filthy, there was something red on the shower screen (Blood?) and the tiles had various stains. The drainage outlet on the floor was almost completely blocked (with what?) We decided that showering wasn't going to be an option. The overall impression of the sleeping accomodation was poor, hostels have been better. One guest even had a room without a window. Ecuador is a wonderful country and we had the opportunity to stay in excellent accomodation, however I would advise you to avoid the Hotel Rio in Riobamba.

Nice hotel, basic but very clean close to Chimborazo. We just stayed one night. Staff is very friendly and they have a safe parking id you are traveling with your car. The only thing they need to improve is the mattress: they seem very old and they are not comfortable.

It was fine for one night. People were very nice, but we didn’t realize it is located in the historic center (downtown) and there was a lot of cars all night which made it difficult to rest. The building is a renovated home in the downtown so it’s nice.

El lugar es precioso! La atención es excelente, su personal es muy amable, las habitaciones son muy confortables, el lugar es impecable, todo mantienen en orden y hermoso, sin duda una gran experiencia, súper recomendado!
