WoW! If you are a nature lover and enjoy peace, quiet, tranquility and being immersed in stunningly beautiful flora and fauna this is THE place! And surprisingly close to San Jose. Upon arrival up a cool road winding into the hills you pass by La Chimba (owned by the same property and a neat place to check out) I was filled with pure joy. The reception area is a visual and emotional treat starting your whole relaxing experience. The stone and wood architecture and open, plant filled reception/lobby area is incredibly welcoming. I loved the library and decor in the parlor/lobby adjacent to reception. For me, the Hotel Don Ernesto is the definition of Pura Vida. One of the many great things is what they don't have - Televisions. The cabins are rustic and beautiful with the basic necessary amenities for a relaxing stay. Sorry, no refrigerators in the room, but they do have phones, coffee makers and hairdryers. No air conditioning and it is not needed. I Love that. The elevation has the perfect weather. And I mean Perfect. July is in the rainy season but this time I had a whole week of mostly sunny 77 - 80 degrees. The fountain, the pool, the restaurant - everything was fantastic. The staff is equally awesome! Gaby, Dani, Carlos, Joel, Camilla and everyone else were as friendly, helpful and accommodating as they could be. I have food allergies and the chef created some tasty things for me. I suffer from migraine headaches as well, and the Don Ernesto was a remarkable remedy for that. A truly rewarding experience and great therapy for the body, mind and soul. The sounds of the animals and insects was so amazing! Day and night! This place was perfect for yoga and meditation..Thank you to everyone at Don Ernesto for a wonderful experience!

Hermoso lugar, el cuarto bien equipado y grande. Excelente servicio por parte del personal. Hermosa vista y piscina. La comida del restaurante muy deliciosa y tiene un café muy delicioso también. Es muy tranquilo y seguro. Me parece demasiado lindo y completo a muy buen precio.
