"I was at the hotel for two nights and I didn't like the room because there was a problem closing the balcony door and so there was a lot of noise from the street. Another thing is the towels, which were very old and had a lot of threads coming out, and the breakfast was also weak. For a hotel of this level, I expected a service but it was delivered much lower than expected."

"It is recommended that children's small ocean view suites are the best room types in the hotel. Spacious with a small living room and only one large bed
If you are a kid, coming to the store will make you a triple room

"Overall, it is comfortable and convenient. There is a beach opposite the hotel and there are staff to maintain order. It is not bad for a vacation.
But the sea view room is different from expectations, the view is as shown in the picture.
The restaurant tastes good."

"Good location
Cleaning service in general good
The hotel is a bit old and neglected in some rooms. We stayed in 3 different rooms and all of them had something old or could be improved. However, in relation to price vs quality it is acceptable. Basic for a tourist stay in Rio. Breakfast is served every day the same, however it is a buffet and you can put together different dishes."
"The room balcony has a beautiful view, simple design, rich breakfast, and is also a safe area, but the hotel front desk will sell tickets and game tickets, which are more expensive than buying them yourself. Especially the game tickets: I bought them for 120 RMB, and they bought them for more than 800 RMB, just for the pick-up."
"The service attitude was very good. We arrived at the hotel at almost 2 a.m. They asked us if we wanted to add a small bed for the child. There was free water and chocolate in the room."

CCarl AntonyAlthough slightly out of the way, the views and proximity to the beach are excellent.
However, the service is quite poor and way below international standards. Most staff stand around and play with their phones (even the life guard). Breakfast is basic and doesn’t change from day-to-day. Some of the restaurant’s food is frankly embarrassing for any type of food outlet. The chefs should be quite ashamed to send it out.
The pool is area is nice but worn out. No one cleans it during the day and tables are dirty. The loungers have seen better days. English language is quite rare apart from the receptionists, which to be fair, they’re probably the best staff there.
The potential of the hotel is there - just needs good management and training. Do better!
GGuest UserWe booked this hotel in Nov at an inflated price of $1500 USD for 4 nights assuming there'd be rooftop access on NYE since the hotel website didn't call out a ticketed event for that night. When we arrived, the staff told us it was in fact a ticketed event for an additional $300 USD. Perhaps our oversight but we scowered the website before booking at such a high price and it wasn't there. The manager was very helpful in accommodating a cancellation if needed, ultimately we were too tired to pack and unpack again and waste another day in transit so we stayed and bought the tickets.
Check in is 2pm. We arrived at 1pm and they said they had a room for us. It wasn't ready so we went to the pool where again, service was wonderful. Front desk gave us a tour of 2 rooms to choose from which was great, but then msgd me and said they'd have a diff room ready at 2:30. We went down at 3pm and the room changed yet again and the new room still wasn't ready. We got a room with no apologies at 4pm.
The room was standard. Strong cleaning smell but decent. The shower hose didn't stay in place. The shower drain did not work at all - we had to kick the water to the corner each time for it to drain or pools of water stayed until the next day. The sink also didn't drain. The toilet stopped flushing. We had a plate with one chocolate on it from NYE which by the next day was covered in ants. We are very tidy girls and give some grace for older hotels to have some flaws, but the experience for the price we paid made us appreciate the airbnbs we'd stayed at before checking in here.
Location is great, gym and pool are great, but not worth the $ for NYE or Carnival.

EEstadia em famíliaPoints for improvement: The hotel has an inadequate pool location, with the view blocked by a film. The pool was very dirty, with dirt and cloudy water. There was no control whatsoever. The air conditioning had a broken blade and was held in place by a bag of sugar. The bathroom was not very clean. The TV was not connected to the Wi-Fi.
Positive points: The room was very quiet, the bed was comfortable, the service was very good, the location is good despite being far from the beach, and the breakfast, although it had many gluten-free options, had several savory dishes.

CCostaNelsonVery friendly staff, nice hotel. I booked a suite for one night, the room was clean although it could use some refurbishing. One window didn't lock, so the noise from the street was constant. Located in a street with some stores, but not an area where you feel safe walking around. No toiletries included apart from s soap and shower gel/shampoo. Coffee machine in the bedroom with 2 coffee pods. I couldn't see a menu anywhere, assumed these were complimentary, as in most hotels where you rent a suite. I was surprised to be charged 1.5 USD per capsule on checkout, and that there was a QR code informing me of this in the room. I couldn't find it anywhere though.
All in all, great staff, but there is definitely a much better price to service/location ratio than this hotel in Rio
AAnonymous UserGreat accommodation! I like staying at the Riale, especially because of its location in Catete, close to the subway and the Museu da República, shops, restaurants, pharmacies and the Flamego park, which is a wonderful tourist attraction in Rio de Janeiro. However, I still think the hotel needs to be renovated. The daily rate does not match the accommodations offered.
The cleanliness is excellent and the breakfast is reasonable. However, when the room key card did not open the door, I had to walk back to the reception through the huge, hot hallways. I stayed in a room with an air conditioner so old that the noise did not let me sleep well. I shared the room with a friend and we could not use the bathroom in private because the bathroom door did not close.
The staff is very friendly, but they forgot some cosmetics in the shower and did not even contact me to let me know, which I thought was rude.
WWellington RebechiReasonable, the bed was put together with two singles, there was only one chair on the balcony, a low television was bad for watching in bed, a broken hairdryer had to be requested from reception, they only had a few replacement units, they kept taking them all the time, the pool closed very early, and we ran out of hot water one day and had to take a cold shower.
Good breakfast, very attentive people always cleaning and replacing things.

GGuest UserMy first room had the worst stains on the chair and sofa. No way should this room been allowed for check in. I booked a queen bed apartment and was moved to a. Double bed room with a view as trade. I was tired and could not be bothered to argue.
There was an apology by the checkin staff.
The breakfast is average (I came from Salvador where breakfast was amazing).
Housekeeping and services were good - all the ladies were nice and pleasant.
The bed had one pillow and the sheets had holes. There was no spare blanket in the room and the duvet provided was not the best so it got cold on a few nights and was too hot on others.
Shower facilities were good but no skin lotion in the room which was fine as I had my own.
No free water in the room only the minibar too - had to go to ibis hotel next door at like 2am to buy stuff there …both hotels are linked
Generally the stay was mediocre and the area does not have anything to do. It is ok and central for Uber which was a bonus.
Would I stay there again - hardly likely
Would I challenge that I am owed money as the room I paid for is not what I was given - may do …if I have the energy
Hopefully Novotel would reach out to me before that happens

IIza M.RainbowI’d describe this hotel as utilitarian. No decor or warmth at all. The common areas are spacious and quite bare.Table and chairs at the restaurant are plain brown wood, The lobby is sparsely furnished with some worn , drab and very uncomfortable seats. Bathrooms are the same. Just the very bare essentials, not even a box of tissue paper ( and thin toilet paper) We travelled long hours, arrived at 22:00 looking forward to a good shower …not to be. We were up for a bad start. There was just a trickle of water not enough to bathe or properly brush teeth either. That could have been a whole area problem as we were told that water pressure can sometimes drop in some areas of the city. We changed rooms , water pressure wasn’t much better the next day either, the water flow improved just a little and remained as such the whole week. We had paid for 5 nights and ended up staying as the city was packed that week . To go looking for another hotel during the G20 summit which Rio was hosting that week of November 2024 would not be an easy task.
On the positive side, staff was pleasant and accommodating, bed was comfortable and from our perspective, the breakfast buffet was the best feature of this hotel offering abundant variety of food to meet all tastes- cereal, fruits and cheeses, cold cuts, several hot savory breakfast dishes - incl. some Brazilian regional dishes as well, a huge selection of breads, cakes, good coffee, and more. Very satisfying. Including breakfast in the booking is highly recommended.
The good fare offered at the hotel at lunch and dinner not good at all. However, there are also three of four restaurants lined up on a small stretch within 5 min walking distance of the hotel- one of them is a very good authentic European Portuguese cuisine and wine. Aprox. US$ 52 for a meal for two. On the same cluster of shops there is a well established Brazilian cuisine restaurant with a good menu where one can eat well for anything between US$ 12 to US$ 15 and a steak house similar to the Australian Outback steak house.
There are also other eateries snd convenience shops, a pharmacy on the same stretch ( 5 min walk ffrom the hotel) including a 24 hr laundromat where one can expect to wash and dry a load for about
US$ 7.
As for location, this hotel is not close to the most well known districts of Rio - places like Copacabana, Ipanema , Leblon - but Barra da Tijuca is a special area in itself and arguably has the best beach in town. The hotel is just a 10 - 15 min taxi ride to Barra Shopping- the largest and best shopping mall in the whole state of Rio de Janeiro where one can find anything, including restaurants (recommend trying Jappa all you can eat Japanese food spread for US$ 26 as in Nov 2024).
On the whole , when compared with the fashionable and pricey districts of Copacabana , Ipanema Leblon this hotel is good value for money . I’d stay there again if they fixed the shower situation b’cause this feature matters for me.

GGavinThe room I'd booked wasn't available when I checked in, so I was given a different room type. I was able to change rooms the next day, so it was fine. Great views from the rooftop terrace. The WiFi is awful. It's 2024; there's no excuse for hotels to have crappy WiFi.

RRangziyouzhifengyongyuanchuifuThe room is clean and tidy, with complete facilities. The water pressure of the bathroom tap is low and the breakfast is rich. The hotel is conveniently located, with many restaurants around. It is 70 meters away from the subway entrance. It is a recommended budget hotel for traveling in Rio de Janeiro
