Tru by Hilton Richmond

Had a great stay ,friendly service, great management, lots to do and place to eat close ,walking distance. Very clean, awesome breakfast , the lady is the most friendlyiest,,helpful , sweetest. She does a very good job...very nice employee s, the best housekeeper s .

I came down to Richmond Kentucky October 25 friday and saturday doe EKU homecoming was great stay pancakes coffee all good and the hotel was clean and staff was A plus. Lots of my friends stayed there and we enjoyed our time and able to hangout in lobby and outdoor patio

We arrived late evening for check in the weekend before July 4th and management raised prices to over 60 dollars per room. Since we were traveling with a child, we decided to stay the night as we were extremely tired. The room had cobwebs all over the bed and corners. That room wasn’t cleaned in ages. We couldn’t shift to “new” room in night with a child. I had to get more sheets and pillows to put over dirty bed sheets. The bed was too soft and the pillows were uncomfortable and caused your neck to just dig in with no support. We will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is new and modern in decor. Our room didn’t have a fridge that worked. We asked for a new one and they were not able to accommodate us. The rooms are best suited to a single traveller. We had a king bed and a kitty, and it felt small. It would be uncomfortable for a family for four. The gym is great, with a Peleton bike, elliptical, and two treadmills, plus free weights. The best feature is the location, with plenty of stores and restaurants just a few blocks away.

First the good. The mattress was comfortable. The room appeared clean. However, as soon as we opened the door the smell of some sort of cleaner was overpowering! We thought the air conditioner would filter it out....it did not. Not sure why the odor was so strong. Were they trying to cover up some pet smell or something else, It was late and they had no other room so we put up with it. The scent was still there when we left at 7 a.m. While the shower looked newish it was most slippery......not sure why the planners didn't have safety in mind. The room is small, probably OK for one night but not for much longer, There was good lighting except over the bed, not individual controls for each side. No timer on the TV. Station guide lacking. You can see how the corners were cut on this new Hilton Brand. We would not stay here again . Also, front desk staff not warm or welcoming.

It is hard to describe how poorly put together this hotel is. I doubt the entire Tru brand is like this, but this one is a complete dud. The room is pretty bare - but with the rate being mid 100s, I understood that. Then it got worse. The bed is rock hard and furniture in the room a level below Ikea. It was already creaking and showing wear. The WiFi didn't work well for us, we ended up using our phones. But the worst part is the bathroom. Covered with spots of black mold all over the shower area. Ceiling, floor, walls with mold. Cracks in the shower itself and water leaking whenever it was on. Unfit for people to be there.
