Baia del Godano Resort & Spa

The resort is extremely well maintained and clean. However if you got to breakfast later say 9am the food was depleted.  The staff were nice but a matter of fact and some of the hotel policies like you must wear a swimming cap were ignored by all of the other guests.  The pool was amazing and clean and couldn’t fault it at all.  The food at dinner time was good but inconsistent in serving sizes particularly if you ordered the same thing the following day.  I think this is a nice resort but expensive for what you get.  The last thing I would say is that the entrance to the beach is not easy given that there are huge boulders in place and we found that we would walk through other hotel properties when we wanted a dip.

The beach is very small and dirty. Took over an hour each night to get dinner to the table. Food was passable at best, but not filling and not flavourful. We walked down the beach for 10-15 minutes and found a beach front bar/restaurant. That is where we ate lunches and kepted ourselves from starving. The hotel enforces caps for the swimming pool and charge $2 per person. Towels for the pool are not included. They charge $10 per person per day. The hotel room is not cleared or cleaned as it is too small. The sheets are rough and old. The hotel itself is run by men who ignore the customers. Asked for 2 small gelatos for my kids. He hands us large. I said I ask for small and her responded "no problem, just take the large". At check out we were charged $24 for 2 large gelatos. I told the clerk what he did and she shrugged and responded "did the kids eat the large gelatos"? What was I going to do at that point? We could not wait to leave. Asked front desk to find out how to get to Tropea as I knew it was close. Was told I have wifi and to get a cab. That was it. No suggestion of how much or who to call or anything. They couldn't care less. Worst experience we had in all of Italy. Never go here, trust me.

Pros Quaint hotel with an intimate feel. The rooms were great and the cleaning staff friendly. The view is spectacular! Cons Much of the staff, including and especially some front desk employees, were especially hostile and discourteous - never experienced anything like it. Drinks and food were appreciably more expensive then restaurants in the surrounding area. Entertainment is effectively non existent Internet is terrible. No one is waiting on you pool side so don’t be fooled by the servers you think you see. I don’t know what their job description is but it surely doesn’t include taking drink orders. So, if you want a drink, or anything for that matter, you’ll most likely have to go to the bar. Who’s in charge? ... P.S. We spent a fair deal of money on food and drink - upwards of a thousand dollars in the 3 days days my family and I stayed on site - and never once were we offered so much as a coffee. It would seem that they take every opportunity to tack on every possible expense notwithstanding the cost, both literally and figuratively. It’s gross! In any case, I’ve stayed all over Italy and I assure there are far more hospitable establishments where you’re truly treated like a valued patron. Plus, it’s Italy and most every location is beautiful! Avoid this place. I will never return.
