Absolutely horrendous. I’m shocked that someone has allowed these rooms to be offered. Dirty and smelly… We had booked these rooms almost a year age to allow us to stay over after a wedding at the Shireburn Arms. We thought the negative reviews might have been a bit hasty, what a mistake…

I have to agree with the latest review. The room we stayed in had similar issues - green 'emergency' light was on all night - not great. Whilst the bed frame was fine, the mattress was very thin and not very firm - if you got too near the edge you were in danger of falling out. On the plus side, the bedding was lovely! The bathroom was good - for an electric shower the pressure was great and shower gel was provided - nice fluffy towels too. The room was spacious and clean but rather dated and tired. The sash window was very worn and the glazing old, as it didn't really muffle much of the traffic noise - for a village location it is quite a busy road. Due to a family emergency they had to close the pub at 6 pm, so we were very much on our own - we were the only ones staying that night. This wasn't a problem as we had a key to get in the side door, but if I had been staying on my own, it would have worried me. No breakfast, but we knew that before we went, and there was plenty of tea, coffee etc available. For one night it was OK but I think in view of the issues above £105 was a bit steep. If they upgrade the mattresses, sort out the windows it could be lovely. We noticed that the property is being advertised 'to let' so maybe if new people came in and showed it a bit of TLC it could be turned around..

This really isn't a great hotel. The mattress was I think the worst I've ever experienced, there was a bright green light in the room that could not be turned off and the room was also just shabby. They have recently undertaken a refit but the only evidence of any work was in the bathroom which wasn't too bad. The bed/mattress were in awful condition and the window frames rotten so the hotel is still very much in need of a refit. I don't think there was any staff overnight and I didn't have a number to call so if you get locked out it's a night in the car park! It’s also worth being aware that there is no option for breakfast. On the plus side the staff were very friendly. Overall definitely best avoided.

Recently stayed at The Bayley Arms Hurst Green which has been taken over and the rooms are offered at very reasonable rates on AirBnB. The location is stunning in the heart of the Ribble Valley Lancashire and literally at the door step of the internationally renowned Stonyhurst College . The host was very accommodating and the welcome pack including a bottle of bubbly was a really nice touch. Would definitely recommend to family and friends and anyone wanting a nice week-end in the Lancashire countryside. I did look at previous reviews which were not showing The Bayley in a good light but the hotel has since been taken over by a couple of local chaps and I say every one deserves a chance. Well done and wish you much success in your venture.

Awful. Staff seemed nice. My room smelt bad, and it was very shabby and really dirty. Very worryingly, there was no inside lock on the door!!!! The shower was broken, and you had to hold the head to wash yourself, the bed was on the floor virtually. I put my suitcase on the table under the window and it was all broken and sunk down immediately in a bow about 1 1/2 foot from where it should have been. Breakfast was ok but all I was asked was *Did I want a fried breakfast*, that was it - no options at all!!!!The couple after me where told there was no beans. I had a miniscule portion. How can you run out of beans? I went out for a walk - checkout was 11, went in to collect my bags and there was a knock on the door at 11.01 - I would have only been over a minute or 2. Really not good enough. I was at a wedding at the Shireburn Arms so very glad I didn't sample the bar experience! I was asked several times by *********** to do a review, I wrote to the Bayley Arms to give them a chance to answer but not had a reply. So - here we are

We only booked the day before. Arrived. Pub locked up - sign pointing to reception - which was hard to find and deserted. Rang the number and young woman appeared, spluttering down the stairs adorned by face mask - saying she felt dreadful - not sure whether she had covid. We were pretty sure. She put the keys down and went back to bed. Our room had a lovely view - and virtually nothing else - it appeared to have been stripped - including removing the legs from the bed - bizarre! As we are both vulnerable, opted not to stay - and not to engage further with the splutterer. However, all attempts to get the hotel to respond to us have failed. I've had a few bad experiences at hotels - but this was far and away the worst - which is a shame as the location and fabric of the building is really good. Look out for "Under new management" and things may be better

Having booked this hotel for a member of the business, I am truly embarrassed and horrified about the information he has given back to me. Once arriving in the room, there was a stagnant smell of sewage which had been covered up with cheap air freshener. On closer inspection of the room, there were no glasses, shower gel any of the additional things that had been stated. The room was tired and dated and was extremely dirty from the offset. To top off the ridiculousness of the room, the mattress has sunk down on one side of the bed, which is the basic thing to have when staying in a hotel! There was a huge gap under the door which let so much light in, you were unable to sleep and the walls were paper thin, so you can hear everything and everything. Originally booked in for 2 nights, checked out after 9 hours and a unrestful nights sleep. AVOID at all costs.

Oh dear…. We hoped for cute country pub. 2 staff very obviously inexperienced, room big but smelly, no glasses in bathroom, products had been half used and left, bins not emptied. Remote for tv didn’t work despite us telling staff. No one greeted us at breakfast we had to work out for ourselves there was nothing cooked just toast and cereal! Seriously don’t go

Staff amazing, management absolutely atrocious, nowhere to be seen, and from a very very reliable source the staff are mistreated, misled, and then left to sort the problems out!! Food is served out of date! Never a day where there is a full menu to choose from. Believe me you would never want to go here and that's from personal experience
