We would not recommend staying at the Ty’n Rhyl. My partner and I attempted to check in at 9:30pm and were shocked to find the hotel in complete darkness. It was very unclear where we could park given the entire grounds was in pitch black. I knocked on the front door and the owner answered with a greeting of “I assumed you weren’t coming so I went to bed!”. We instantly felt unwelcome and uncomfortable. We then entered and had very awkward small talk with the owner before being shown our room. The restaurant and bar were not open at 9:30pm on a Saturday night, which we thought was strange. We then asked for local pub recommendations, which the host provided, followed with the remark “well I guess I’ll have to wait up for you then”. This added to the awkwardness. I’ve never stayed in a hotel that didn’t provide a key to the front door - had I known we’d have a curfew, we definitely wouldn’t have booked to stay. We decided to go to the local shop to bring some drinks back and sit in the downstairs foyer. The owner then said “oh well I’m going to have to charge you corkage for that”. We were gobsmacked, especially given the bar was closed in the B&B. We felt so uncomfortable that we grabbed our bags and left, deciding not to stay for the night. The service was terrible, would not recommend anyone booking this for a night in Rhyl.

What a wonderful stay at this beautiful boutique hotel, run by the charming, friendly, and very welcoming Elvira and David Barratt. Ever detail of the hotel was perfectly set-out from the welcome tray (including a decanter of sherry!) in the beautifully set-up bedroom, to the layout of the breakfast table. The food was fantastic, with David happy to be flexible to ensure that breakfast was just as we wanted it, and the hotel oozed charm and character. We cannot recommend the hotel strongly enough, and we certainly hope to return one day to once again enjoy Elvira and David's generous hospitality. Absolutely five stars! *****

Just finished a delicious breakfast after a restful sleep in our charming bedroom! The whole house is stunning and furnished beautifully! Elvira is a very friendly host and we were made to feel very welcome! We ate dinner here last night and that too was splendid! My husbands steak was cooked perfectly as was my chicken! In short we have had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend!

This place is incredible! The building, the food, the staff! It was a lovely dining experience and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend this place to all. The dining room and the conservatory are gorgeous and decorated very well.. as it’s nearly Christmas, the lights and decor just added to the experience.

Four of us had just driven up to N. Wales from S. Devon (a 6½ hour journey) and Winchester and wanted to have a really good dinner to fortify us against a feuding family funeral the next day! In researching possible restaurants & pubs in the area of St Asaph, where we were spending the night, the outlook seemed dire and then Barratt's popped up. What a find. A gem of a building, a roaring welcoming fire in an intimate living room with proper, comfortable old sofas, a huge Alice in Wonderland cat and the stress of a long drive melted away. We had ordered in advance (by request) and from the first mouthful to the last of three courses we were all in food heaven. Our hostess was charming, the food and atmosphere of Barratt's raised our spirits and we all felt buoyed up for the rigours of the next day's 'event' beyond all expectations. Thank you so much!!!

The best in Rhyl! Lovely place with a great hotel, restaurant and garden. Brilliant breakfast. Could not fault it in any respect. And cheaper than the local Travel Lodge and Premier Inn options. Go there!

Once again I had a very nice, comfortable stay with David and Elvira. Their attention to detail is second to none. Beautiful bedroom, very comfy bed. The breakfast was, as always, delicious and so beautifully presented. I hope to stay again in the Autumn.

This is truly a hidden gem. This magnificent old house has some amazing original features and seems like a little oasis in the midst of Rhyl. The food was beautifully presented and of a very high standard. We were impressed. The lady that welcomed us and served us was lovely too.
