Black Lion Hotel

A super two night stay. John and the team were excellent - friendly and welcoming and more than happy to chat to us and give recommendations! The room was big, well-equipped, clean, and super comfortable. Breakfast was lovely, and food in the evening was great too. All whilst in a beautiful part of the country, really close to loads of places to visit. Exceeded every expectation, still can’t quite believe that they’re not charging more for what is offered!! 10/10 would go back.

My daughter and I had a fantatic one night stay at the Black Lion. We stayed in a beautiful twin bedroom with on suite shower room and the standard of facilities and decoration etc. was excellent all round. The room was a good size and and clean with very comfy beds. Breakfast was included in the price and was cooked beautifully. We had an evening menu and selected from a good average menu that will suit all the family. This was was again beautifully cooked and at a good price point. Topping it all was the service from both John the owner and all his team. Oh, and the location was beautiful on the edge of the village by the river and handy for the coast, the main A55 road and access to the wonderful Welsh counrtyside including Snowdonia. Thank you John and team. We will definitely be back to stay for longer this time. Highly recommended.

Found this fabulous hotel via trip advisor, great reviews, which are well deserved. Going on the Snowdon Mountain Railway but wanted to stay somewhere not too touristy. Our room had every thing you could want, wifi worked fine and the food in the restrarant, breakfast and dinner was excellent. John our host was a great source of local places to visit and there to help if required

We enjoyed a superb 2 night stay here. The hospitality of John and his team was first class, making us feel very welcome. The food was to die for, I had an amazing fillet steak on our first night, and, as other people have said, the Full Welsh Breakfast is huge and very tasty, and cereals, yoghurt and toast are also available. The village location is brilliant, also boasting another olde worlde pub in The Swan, and The Black Lion is within easy driving distance of local attractions such as Conwy, Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and the rest of Norh Wales. We will definitely be back.

We had a lovely two night break, the room, breakfast and dinner were all excellent. John and the staff were all very welcoming and helpful. Many thanks to John for rearranging at short notice due to my illness. The hotel is in a quiet little village, where you can sit on picnic benches or walk by the river Elwy. It was so quiet at night and we slept well in the comfortable bed. The hotel is well placed for visiting the North Wales coast and many places of interest. We would definitely like to visit again.

We have a caravan in Pensarn so know this inn well,having dined here many times with our family,but we had never stayed before.We had an anniversary on 23 march so as a treat we decided to book a room at the inn.What a good choice the staff were welcoming and helpful the room was a delight very comfortable warm spotlessly clean and with double aspect great views of the river and the village.Lovely evening meal ,the only down side was that there was only another couple staying so lacked atmosphere but that’s not their fault.Great breakfast served at a civilised time by the owner John.He was a great host attentive and friendly nothing was to much trouble and we had a good chat.We will certainly stay here again as soon as possible.We can only recommend you stay here for value and quality you will struggle to match this.John if you read this we were the couple from Bootle,thanks for a great stay.
