Matina Pefkos Aparthotel

We loved it, second visit to Pefkos what an amazing place. Room was fine, cleaned everyday and the beds were super comfortable. Could have done with a few more pans to make the self catering facilities better Staff in the people and snack bar are amazing couldn’t be more friendly. Son loved the pool area and the location is excellent Complex has everything you need, great to be able to use the snack bars and flexibility of the super market and self catering facilities. We ate out most of the time as it’s so reasonable. Had a car from Pefkos Mare so spent time across the island highlights tsambika beech and the old town. Enjoyed the glass bottoming bout trip and the Greek night on lardos

I rarely write a review but feel the need to following on from our 10 day holiday here. Firstly overall we did have a lovely holiday. We traveled with 3 children 14, 10 and 18 months and spent every day by the pool or beach. It was too hot for the little one to do much else and the pool was great and suited the whole family. The pool snack bar was brilliant, well priced and Stergios and the team so friendly and welcoming. The onsite shop also was a god send so convenient. We booked a year and a half ago as a holiday is something we have to budget for far in advance and it did have a kids club at the time which was a big factor in our search. When informed that this would not longer be available we were disappointed but given the great reviews we were reluctant to change holidays so decided to stay with it as it said there would still be other entertainment. I think a little mini disco for the little ones on a couple of nights would be lovely perhaps in the little stage area by the pool bar. We watched the superstars one night and we loved that so much, one of the best nights. Would have been nice to have a few more like that. We went to see the drifters too but all tables were reserved regardless of us arriving before 8pm so we had to sit close to the pool which meant it was a stressful experience with the baby so we left before it started. The self catering facilities in our room were very basic. A 2 ring hob that was impossible to tell what temp u had it on, 2 pans, one extremely large one too big for the rings and one smaller one with a lid that was too large and a frying pan. In terms of utensils there was a whisk or a ladle and only one sharp knife that was for bread. There was a microwave but we couldn't find any microwave friendly food in the shop. Needless to say we only cooked dinner 3 times and I just felt it was stressful because the lack of suitable appliances. Luckily the food at the hotel and in surrounding restaurants was lovely but we spent a lot more that we have previously self catering because of this. None of this really contributed to a negative impact on our stay the main issue we had was cockroaches. It was awful. They were all over our terrace and we found at least 10 in our room over the course of our stay. This was such a negative on our experience mainly because we have a little one having an outside space for the evening for us to sit out in is key to a positive experience. We tried on 2 evenings and whilst my partner dealt with getting rid of everyone with a glass and sheet of paper it was very stressful even for him who was ok with dealing with them. My daughter was beside herself and worried to sleep at night; to be honest I woke up through the night with the sensation they were on me; they weren't but we was all so on edge. Every night we would get back you could guarantee we would have one or two to dispose of and then my partner would check all round under beds etc. I get we are in a hot climate and perhaps it

We arrived late and check in was quick as we used the online check in. We ordered groceries from ABC which were waiting for us, great service. The room was dated but adequate. Beds were comfortable and aircon was invaluable. My only criticisms were the shower head that did not sprinkle properly , the stench in the cupboard under the sink which should both have been picked up before we arrived. The table and chairs on the balcony had bird droppings on them and were never cleaned. There was a Super large balcony with sunbeds in room 108. A few ants on the balcony but we soon got rid of them. Breakfast was very repetitive and no runny yolks on fried eggs. The fruit and yogurt were lovely and so was the warm bread. We only used the smaller pool as it was quieter. I liked that most people could stand in the deepest parts of it. Plenty of sunbeds and parasols. Staff were always happy to help. People's bar food was good but music choice left a lot to be desired. We ate in Meltemi one night and this was the best food we tasted from all our nights out. We would come back here but June/July was too hot for us.

Not the quality we were expecting but great view and good customer service. Breakfast was very repetitive but amazing warm bread. Large balcony in room 108. Cleanliness just adequate. Shower didn't spray right and vile smell under the sink.

Was waiting for the holiday blues to subside before writing our review but don’t think that’s happening anytime soon. We stayed in a 1 bed apartment from 14/06-24/06 and couldn’t fault our stay at all. Having stayed just 6 weeks earlier in block 7 I had requested the same block and we really appreciated that we were able to stay in the same block again. With a 3 year old football crazy little boy being close to the football pitch out the back was a bonus. Our flight had been delayed so it was after 1am when we got to reception. We had been sent a link for online check in (following our room request) so once Bob knew we had only left 6 weeks earlier and knew our way around it was just a case of handing over our keycard - I don’t even think it took 5 minutes. Our ABC order and safe key were in the room waiting for us. The location is fantastic and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else now. The beach is on the doorstep and a 10 minute walk up the beach road takes you to all the bars and restaurants. We were able to always get sunbeds round the pool and would spend the morning at the Matina snack bar pool and afternoons at the pool by People’s bar. Both pools have steps as well as ladders to get in which I really like. We ate at People’s (too many times to count), the Matina Snack Bar and in the Meltemi rooftop (3 times) and every meal or snack was delicious. We had a takeaway from People’s one night too when we didn’t fancy going out after a 9:30am to 6:30pm shift in the pool with our water baby! What makes your stay at Matina though hands down is the staff. There is no doubt about that. From the reception staff, the maintenance staff, the lovely ladies who clean our rooms, the staff in ABC, Stergos, David, Chris, George and Tsampika - they are all the loveliest people who make your holiday great. The real MVPs for our family though have to be Redi, Kleon and Luis - my little boy’s heroes. Every day he still talks about ‘his boys’. They absolutely made his holiday! From getting his wee takeaway cup of apple juice to throwing him in the pool (at his request haha) - they couldn’t have made his holiday more special. In April we had a little boy who was like Velcro to us and over the two holidays the confidence he has developed has been so nice to see and the boys definitely helped bring that on. So just to say a final massive THANK YOU to everyone who made our holidays so special.

Having just arrived back from 2 week's at the Matina. We stopped in a one bedroom apartment, which was big enough for two people. we put in special request for a ground floor room, as we struggled up and down stairs with suitcases, we did not get one but this was not their hotel fault as it was not passed on to reception,so I would suggest to email the hotel directly The room was clean no issues. Plenty of choice at breakfast which suited us,do not expect a full English Breakfast. Two lovely pool areas no trouble getting a sunbed. Entertainment 3 days a week very good.everyone up dancing. Well stocked supermarket on site. Would come back.
