I am not one to ordinarily leave reviews but, in view of the recent negative ratings, feel that one is necessary to offer some balance as my experience of the hotel was markedly different than what has largely been written in the last month or so. Firstly, the hotel staff (front of house, cleaners and chef) could not have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful. Always cheerful and with big, hearty smiles. Breakfast was varied and plentiful; fresh fruit, juices, tea / coffee, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, omelette and all the usual fare to put together a ‘fry-up’ style breakfast. All 5 of us thought the breakfast was spot on! We ‘lucked out’ with an upgraded room which was very spacious and with a sea view but another couple in our party had a standard room which, though more modest in size and basic, was spotlessly clean and more than adequate for a week’s stay. Our rooms were cleaned, and bed sheets replaced, every day. There is a nice rooftop terrace with a lovely vista. Yes, it’s a little tired but nice to have as an option to watch the evening sunset. We did not have a ‘pool-based’ holiday and so did not make use of the hotel’s pool. Fokia bay is a 10-minute walk away which is great for snorkelling. There is a nice pool bar which can’t be more than a 30-second walk from the hotel and a fabulous restaurant (Nikolas Taverna - in which we ate our evening meal 4 times) which is probably 1 minute away. The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. We had a terrific week away and the hotel was perfect for us; as a value for money proposition, it’s just about as good as you will come across!
