Sunshine Rhodes

This hotel was just what we needed for a week away, all inclusive, at a poolside and seaside resort. Bar and entertainment staff were attentive and even remembered our names and we were really impressed by them. Pool is large and nice, with plenty of loungers and a poolside bar. The entertainment was cheesy but good fun if you get involved after a few cocktails! The food was ok, as expected for an all inclusive buffet, with a fair amount of repetition, but even still something for everyone. Our room was simple and passable, but the cleanliness left some room for improvement. The bathroom needed a scrub, having evidently had a high level clean, the tiles and generally everything needed a deep clean. I didn’t feel that the room was fully cleaned the whole time we were there - just the bed being made really. On more than one occasion we were given dirty towels but these were replaced when asked. We had a pass to the a la carte restaurant, Mamma Mia, for one night, and this was not good, we wished we’d just stayed at the buffet. There was literally no atmosphere at this place. We were told it was booked out for a few days so we had to do it toward the end of the week yet when we went there there was maybe 5 other people sat to eat. The bread came to start with only one plate for us to share - a small thing but started us on the wrong foot. The service was not good, slow despite the small amount of people in attendance and not very attentive. I ordered the Caesar salad to start which was pretty good and the best part of the meal. The risotto which followed was not great and the cheesecake was the worst part of the meal. It came in a plastic container (evidently bought and not made) and was half synthetic jam-like compote, honestly the worst cheesecake I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t bother with Mamma Mia if I went again. Overall, I think the place could do with a spruce up but it is a lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Definitely visit old town, lindos, and especially symi island when staying, we did trips to these places and loved them.

Really good hotel for the price. Food was fabulous lots of choice. Staff very helpful. Very clean. Lovely location as it’s right on the beach. Activity staff work very hard to look after everyone. Suitable for families and couples. The resort was quiet as it was very early in the season but there were a very bars and restaurants 2 minutes from the hotel. Good bus service into Rhodes town.

We arrived at 3am and went to our room, to find someone else in there! Once this was sorted out and we were given room 614 - which was absolutely nothing like the pictures. It was mouldy and filthy and just disgusting to be honest and we are not actually fussy people! I would give this hotel 2 stars at best due to the level of cleanliness and the general state of the hotel which had broken furniture and torn sofas in communal areas. The pictures do not reflect this hotel at all.

Great holiday, hotel was excellent, very clean and a good location on the edge of a nice village and a short bus ride to Rhodes old town with lots of shops, restaurants and bars. We enjoyed joining in with the hotels day time entertainment, darts, French bowls, water polo etc. Billy and Shelley from the team were very friendly, as was all bar and restaurant staff

Well what can I say, flight good, private transfer not needed for the cost and fact only about 15 mins from airport. Reception efficient but don’t forget the 70€ extra tax you have to pay. Beautifully decorated area and lots of seating through the other side. Given room 131, well I should have asked to move from the start as I paid extra for sea view. And yes to be fair you could see the sea over the top of the hotel kitchens. Very noisy most of the time, especially later In Evening as well, when people coming out of bar. The room was very dated, cracked toilet basin shocking shower pressure took ages to have shower under the dribble that came out. Fridge on the floor no hangers for clothes, and one night we had cockroach’s in the bathroom. The blonde lady in Reception not at all helpful turning her nose up and saying she would send someone to sort later as no one on shift at present, this was 10.30pm, No hint of an apology. later 2 young boys turned up and admittedly sprayed the room from top to bottom and caught 2 of the blighters. This of course meant we had to stay out of room for an hour till it had settled and at 70 &75 on the 3rd floor was not happy. They wouldn’t move us saying full and we were leaving day after the next. Two big bug bares, who oh who decided that putting a full length glass panel to the front door was a good idea. Light streamed through all night and in end I had to buy blackout bandana so I could sleep. Also the fact that you’re under the direct flight path to the airport runway didn’t help either with planes coming in every10mins. They did stop mainly by midnight. Pool area super lots of room and sun beds subeds on beach are free and part of the hotel complex. However the beach is complete pebbles and you would never allow a child to swim in such rough currents and undertow you need to be strong to get in and out. Pool bar staff fantastic, helpful and free beach towels twice a week. Drinks oh yuk no nothing decent to drink at all. You can’t even buy a better brand of alcohol if you wanted. We would wander up the road to the local bars. Restaurant very good food plentiful well cooked and great variety, yes often the same things but always a choice of at least 7different things to eat. Plus vegetarian option. Breakfast had full English, cereals toast cakes salad ham cheese and fresh made pancakes. Juices tea and coffee. Lunch and diner choice of 3 wines or very fizzy beer. Would I stay again never, the other side of the island is better. You live an learn and get what you pay for I suppose as not e pensive in this day and age.

As soon as you arrive at Sunshine Hotel, you get a friendly welcome, the reception staff explain everything you need to know. They show you on a map where your room is and tell you all meal times, pool openings. Excellent service. Our room was standard, and the bed was extremely hard with a lumpy pillow. The patio doors to the balcony were very stiff and never locked. The curtains had mould growing on it, and when you shower, you step out into a swimming pool as it leaks really bad!! This was reported but never mended! The cleaning staff do not clean, they make your bed! They advise 3 pools, but in may only 2 are open. The beach is very stoney and when windy it's dangerous to go into the sea. Meals are nice but competitive. Limited all-inclusive alcohol drinks and soft drinks are too sweet. Catering staff, reception staff, and bar staff are excellent, especially Goerge in reception.
