We have just returned from a 2 week stay at Kalithea Horizon Royal and we loved every minute! The setting is gorgeous in the picturesque coast of rhodes, gardens are always well kept around the hotel. It is a lot of walking but there is a regular buggy service, this service also takes you down to the beach too! Taxis were easy to get to and from the local towns, and buses from the bus stop directly outside the hotel were regular but very busy! The rooms are well equipped with mini fridge and minir bar, comfy beds. They are cleaned regularly however on a couple of occasions we didn’t receive fresh towels to shower with, the hand towels were not fresh just folded and our door was left open once. The all inclusive includes a variety of restaurants and snack bars, each have great variety there is always something for everyone even fussy eaters like us. We mainly ate at the pool snack bar because of us being fussy and knowing what we like. I will say that some of the snacks at the pool like chips seemed like left overs from the night before! The pizzas were always made fresh in a stonebaked oven from the acropolis restaurant, this is also the place to get your traditional gyros. The acropolis restaurant is set right over looking the blue sea. There is fresh gelato and ice cream available all day. Continental breakfast is a great touch for the late risers, it was fab for us! The drinks throughout the day and night were fantastic, the cocktails included were a firm favourite of ours. Kleopatra on the aphrodite pool bar is the best bar lady ever! In the safari bar at night the bar staff work tirelessly and always so friendly, Georgina and her colleagues were amazing! The Mini market on site is open 8am-11pm which is great, it was quite small but had everything you would need. There are 3 pools are all large, well kept and clean, we never had trouble getting a sun lounger there is plenty! All the pools are of a large size too. Our favourite was the aphrodite pool. Each have a bar and snack bar available. There is a childrens splash park with slides and fun for the little ones! Life guards at each were amazing and friendly, never not at the poolside. I will say that there is a significant smell of drains around the hotel and at night it was quite strong! Then a special mention to the people who made our holiday so special, the animation team! Tony, Panda, Nico, Regina, Gaia, Filipo, Jordi, Vale, Alyssa, Misa were incredible! The activities throughout the day were regular, there is timetables throughout the whole hotel to keep you up to date with the activities of the day and night! From 10am till 5pm at the pool side there is lots of fun activities like Aqua gym, Zumba and Darts to get involved in. Then in the Safari bar at night, every night a mini disco followed by fab entertainment planned by the A TEAM! Until 11pm where there is a disco for everyone to be involved. The team are so friendly, kind and not pushy. Always there for a good chat, we got t

If you are looking for that one perfect place that has EVERYTHING that one wishes for on a Greek island, then you cannot go wrong by choosing Kalithea Horizon Royal. Surrounded by the bluest of blue sea on three sides, with grounds that are amazingly green and well kept, luxurious blocks of rooms with lots and lots of places to eat / drink / relax, lots of places to have a swim - be it the numerous pools or the beach, our 7-day stay was nothing short of a constant wow. And the best part...the personnel. Always smiling and helpful, they made our stay a pure joy. With the risk of missing many many, special thanks to Dagmara, Teo, Alex, George, Vaso and so many more! How they managed to maintain absolutely highest standard in all the restaurants is beyond me, but we did not have one bad / semi-good meal in any of the restaurants. Always fresh, tasty, very well seasoned. YUM! Location wise its just perfect - 15 min taxi ride to Rhodes town or 8-9 mins taxi to Faliraki. Regular bus route with a stop right outside the hotel runs throughout the day - to Rhodes town, Faliraki, Tsambika, Lindos ... Loved our stay so much that we have already booked for next year, looking forward to it already

Okay experience; Man on reception who we first met gave us our keys and told everyone a brief run down but I noticed he was rude to the family before us. Room was lovely cleaners did a good job although there was a huge gap between the door and doorframe so this allowed bugs to get into our room and my partner found a huge cockroach under the towel which we had wedged in the gap between floor and bottom of the door. Swimming pools; fairly dirty mould growing on the rims and the water was freezing cold so abit unbearable at first if I’m honest. I sat on a few sun-beds that were broken also and nearly did a crash landing! Zumba looked pretty good but I didn’t join in and the music was very loud if you didn’t want to be apart of it. Pool bar was very average they didn’t even do a daiquiri which is fairly standard in my opinion but the cocktails tasted okay. Food; this was a real let down as we’re big foodies! The buffet selection at breakfast was quite good although the eggs were greasy and the meat slightly undercooked I would say for most people’s preferences however fresh pancakes and waffles were delightful! Lunch was fairly good but nothing seemed to flow it was very random, didn’t compliment each other also the salad variety was poor and didn’t look appetising. Evening meals were standard there was plenty to choose from but similar to lunch with all random bits. Unfortunately this is where it gets worse… My partner had some Chinese chicken one night, I tried a bit after he had eaten a lot of it and I found raw chicken, sadly it was too late and he was throwing up into the night and early hours of the morning and I also had a bad tummy with repercussions! We then got the a la carte one night where you had to book. Know-one told us of it’s where abouts so I found out at the bar and sat down the waitress then questioned if we had booked and that already made me anxious and abit annoyed! The starter was dreadful it was like beef oxo cube dishwater and the main I ordered was meant to be a fish fillet and a whole fish with head, bones and a tail turned up, I couldn’t eat it as I kept choking on the bones so I went to the buffet and left the main course. Lastly, the iced coffees were dreadful like watered down coffee and loads of cream, I tried to force myself to drink it but couldn’t it was so bad. Also if you were sat at a table and asked for anything other than wine or water they told you to go to the bar they couldn’t bring it to you, i would say more like couldn’t be bothered! So disappointing overall… Entertainment; slightly none existent during the day there wasn’t any apart from two Zumba classes. There were evening performers but you couldn’t get a seat unless you were early and they were more aimed at an older age group so we went to bed at half 9 every night! We did attend one and it was good singing and enjoyed the atmosphere. My overall opinion would be there needs to be a lot of improvements at this hotel or I can see there

Just finished a two week holiday at the hotel. It is a very large hotel. Reception- when we first arrived at night we were greeted with a not very friendly gentlemen behind the desk. All he was bothered about was collecting the £280 euros it cost us for the resort tax which I didn’t know we had to pay ( it may be on the tui website but I didn’t notice it if it is) He gave us the map of the resort, took our money and when I asked about a safe he told us to come back tomorrow. Not a good first impression. The room was really clean, and well equipped for our holiday. We were in the block in-front of the safari bar/ kids pool. There is many pools / bars the resort is huge. The downside is there isn’t a snack bar near the kids pools which I think it’s needed. You have to have a good walk around to find the different snack bars and restaurants as some are a lot better than others, the main restaurant is very busy and hectic. The restaurants and snack bars near the reception are better. Night time entertainment is hit or miss at the safari bar. Some nights good some nights very poor but the staff try hard. The ques for drinks at the safari bar can be 20 - 30 people deep but goes down pretty fast. Every pool we tried and we got sunbeds very easily every day. Tip- find the BBQ snack bar behind the mythos pool for good gyros. Bad points- A lot of walking involved, which isn’t that easy with small children everyday. Not enough main restaurants for amount of people using them, some nights it took us 10mins to find a table. Staff in restaurants and reception not very helpful and friendly. Overall a good hotel but we wouldn’t come back again as it’s too big and spaced out.

This hotel is wonderful set in beautiful gardens overlooking the sea , the rooms are spotless and all public areas are very clean and very well maintained. The food is excellent and the staff are second to none. We travelled with 2 children aged 6 and 8 and they loved it , the staff went out of their way to make all of us welcome and treated us as one of their own. The pools are vast as are the sun loungers with quiet areas if that is what you want or more lively areas if that's your bag. The entertainment/ Animation crew were some of the best I have met , with Mica and Regina in the mini club keeping the kids entertained all day and into the evening , Toni and his team of animators brought some refreshing entertainment to all of us with shows , quizzes singalongs and pop up flash mobs and who can forget the Big man 🐼 PANDA. All in all a wonderful holiday where we and the children met new friends and memories. WELL DONE ALL STAFF AT THE KALITHEA BUT PARTICULARLY THE ANIMATION TEAM WHO MADE OUR GRANDCHILDRENS PERFECT HOLIDAY.

*AVOID* ONE STAR SHOULD BE ZERO If you want to be disappointed then this “hotel” is your place to go. Come for a relaxing holiday to be greeted by rude reception staff, passport gets checked and slammed on the desk. Now onto the room we was given a room with a leaking toilet, found a hair that definitely was not ours in the bathroom and an ant infestation on the terrace. We reported these problems to reception twice 2 days in a row to be told “we can possibly change the room tomorrow” both times. The final straw was when we found about 20-30 ants in the room getting into the bed etc at this point we went to the reception and was told “you have come here there will be lots of bugs” and get told to go away because we are not “priority” the staff on reception had no intention to help us in any way and fobbed us off on multiple occasions. It took for us to contact the TUI reps for this problem to be resolved and we was given another room this was not until the following day and we was without a room for several hours. No understanding or friendliness from the staff just pure rude. Not to mention the food was not the best and this should be marked as a resort not a hotel because you are walking about 10 minutes to get from one place to another. Oh and to top it off, the hallway to the rooms had multiple birds nests with bird poo all up the walls!!! *AVOID AT ALL COSTS*

The hotel overall is lovely and we had a lovely stay however, we had some pros and cons of the hotel: Pros: . Nice clean and comfortable room . Always sunbeds available . Lovely pool bar staff . Beautiful Setting . Near to Rhodes Town $15 . Beautiful (beware water is freezing) . Buggy service to take you around the resort . Free bottles of water . Very quick and efficient taxi service Cons: . Very rude and lazy old man on the night we arrived to check in, which started off our holiday on a sour note . Room looks better on pictures . The Food is good but very repetitive every day . We got asked for last orders at a bar an hour earlier than it was meant to close . Because the hotel is so big if your room is near reception you have to walk a very long way to the other side of the hotel . The pools are freezing . The animation team made no effort, we were told on the website there were darts competitions, 5 aside football and none of it got mentioned at any point. They came around the pool twice a day did a dance and then left again, and had no overall enthusiasm or energy. . No one tells you where the A la carte restaurant is and nothing gets explained to you when you arrive. . The aqua aerobics was more someone splashing in the pool for 30 minutes. . The music around the pool could have been better they only played ‘good’ music when the aerobics was on the music stopped. . The drinks were nice but it was all off brand and didn’t really taste like alcohol. . When we were checking out it took 2 hours of waiting at the desk to finally check out, we were then rudely asked at 2pm why we were only just now checking out, but we had been standing there for 2 hours. . We ate out most nights as we got so bored of the hotel food, and the entertainment that was on in the hotel was never made known to the guests. Overall it’s a good base to have to explore the rest of rhodes but i wouldn’t stay again

This hotel is the first 4 star Tui hotel I've stayed at, that's felt like a 4 star, rather than a 3 (Sensatauri excluded). The hotel itself looks great, the staff are very attentive and give great service, the food was great and had something for everyone. It's not really a hotel though, more of a campus. It's big, and very steep in places and if you're of limited mobility you can use the golf buggies that travel around and will take you wherever you want. Accessibility is good with plenty of ramps and I saw a few wheelchair users around. There are plenty of sun beds and pools, there's a kid pool with slides and some bigger pools if you want a swim. There are aqua aerobics classes every day which got everyone moving and laughing. Food and drink are plentiful, and there is table service everywhere, or you could go and help yourself to drinks and snacks. I did notice (as some other reviewers have noted) some preference towards certain guests, usually the German/Austrian tourists who tipped heavily at the end of the holiday, but I always got served in a timely fashion. The hotel loses a star for the kids club, at other TUI places I've been, the kids clubs have always been booked up, but this one was always empty. The staff who run it are great with kids and very attentive, but it looked like there was no one in charge with a direction of what to do. The staff each day would make it up as they went along, there was no attempt to get the kids playing together (maybe due to child language barrier), and most times the kids were just drawing on their own. The mini disco in the evening was fun, but it was always the same songs in the same order, again there was little planning. I liked the kids club staff, but they could make things even better by lesson planning, kids interaction, and some variation. I like the kids clubs so my child can make friends on holiday, but all she did was colour in on her own. So if you have an only child, something to think about.

We stayed at Kalithea Horizon Royal from May 15th-22nd and had a very enjoyable stay. However, there are a few things to note before booking. Resort: - Resort is beautiful, with lots of places to eat, drink and relax by the pool. - Hotel and resort was kept very clean and tidy, there is also helpful signposting to find your way around. - Hotel was generally quiet and relaxing. - There was a consistent smell of sewage, mainly outside but sometimes inside the hotel as well which wasn’t too pleasant. Pool: - We never had trouble finding a sun bed to relax on, which was ideal. - The pool area was kept clean and tidy. - We found the outdoor pools quite cold. Room: - We stayed in room 441, which was perfectly situated in the middle of the resort (very close to pools, restaurants, bars etc). - Rooms were spacious and clean, with comfy beds as well. - Definitely worth upgrading to a sea view, we had an amazing view from our balcony. Service: - The staff at the reception desk were welcoming and helpful in answering any questions we had throughout our stay. - The bar staff were very nice and friendly (especially Savvas, who went above and beyond for us and was so kind and accommodating). It was our friend’s birthday one of the evenings and Savvas brought over drinks with sparklers which was a lovely gesture. - Restaurant service (generally speaking) was a bit poor. We were rarely greeted by and staff and often found our selves sitting at a table for 10-15 minutes before the table was set (one server pretty much threw our cutlery onto the table one lunch time as she was passing). - Getting served drinks in the restaurants was also a bit of a nightmare. We noticed the tables around us getting a lot more service than us and we often had to go and get our own drinks from the bar. - We did notice that the restaurants appeared quite short staffed at times, which we completely sympathise with, but it is a little bit disappointing when you notice servers prioritising certain guests over others (not sure if this has something to do with us being British, but we did feel that guests of other nationalities did receive better service than us). Transport: - Booking a taxi at reception was very easy and the taxi drivers arrived promptly in our experience. - The golf buggy’s are a nice touch, we got driven to our room with our suitcases upon arrival, and back to reception ready for departure. - There is a location in the resort where you can wait to be driven to the nearby beach. We didn’t have to wait too long and the views from the beach were incredible. - The golf buggy service is completely free. Location: - Hotel is close to Rhodes Town, just a short 15 minute taxi journey (costing around €15-€20 each way). - From our experience, there wasn’t an awful lot to do in Kalithea, so we didn’t explore the local area too much. Food and drink: - The food was good for the most part, there was lots to choose from and different places to eat. - We never left t
