Karpathios Studios

Just returned from a 2 week stay, t karpathios. Amazing views, fantastic pool, and so peaceful. Stelios the bar manager really made our holiday, so friendly and funny, all the staff here are a credit to the place, a mention for George as well, who looked after us during the evenings. Book this place, you won't be disappointed. Thanks again stelios.

Returning to Karpathios studios after 22 years we were not disappointed The view was as beautiful as remembered. Stalios and George gave us a warm welcome each morning to the bar and pool area. The pool is lovely and there's plenty of sun beds. The bar is cash only but serves a good range of drinks. The food is very tasty and reasonably priced. You have to pay extra 10 euros a night for air con, but that's pretty standard in Greece. The studios are basic but are kept very clean and maid service was excellent. Now the HILL, the hill is from the main road to the apartments it is not for any one with mobility issues. I certainly built up a sweat each night coming back from a night out. It has certainly kick started an effort to get a lot fitter.

I would recommend Karpathios studios to anybody. The pool area is lovely and the views from the balcony are great. The rooms are cleaned regularly and any questions or queries were dealt with really quickly. There are also plenty of nice restaurants and bars close The best part though is definitely the staff! Stelios and Giorgos are very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. They made us feel very welcome and we would definitely come back!

When sitting at home in chilly uk I thought a cheap and cheerful break was needed. Figuring anything will do, I picked this studio on the basis of flight times and cost. I have stayed in lots of basic greek studios over the years but I am calling this close to the most basic. It looks a really attractive place from the outside, a pretty building with flowers and trees, and a stunning mountain backdrop , and views to the sea. Unfortunately the room wasn’t nice, not clean, a randomly stinky bathroom with dingy cracked walls and the terrible shower head that while providing hot water was old and horribly crusty. The mattress really needs replacing, you can feel every spring. The rail on the side of the bed made it super difficult to get in and out, you had to sort of crawl on your knees and flop into the mattress. I have had these fixed beds before but they usually have a step. One night I stayed elsewhere as I was enjoying the other area and for €35 i had a basic room that was spotless, old but well maintained decorated and far smarter. While self catering is often basic in Greece I even struggled to make a sandwich. The fridge was clean and fairly new. Be warned the kettle didn’t switch itself off so boiled madly before I realised. No toaster , no chopping board, no tea towel or washing up sponge. I didn’t try the hot plate as it was too heavy to retrieve from under the sink, and the pan was only fit for the bin anyway, all worn and scratched. Bins were emptied daily, and my ‘bed’ was made but no other cleaning was done while i was staying. I had new white sports socks at one point , they were black from the dirty tiled floor. You absolutely need aircon as the room is an oven and it’s €10 a night extra. It is not the best aircon and as it’s in the ‘kitchen’ area around a corner it takes ages to feel the benefit, at least an hour. I read they had a refurbished so when reading previous poor reviews I figured they were probably out of date . The refurbishment as I can see was to gloss paint anything wood without replacing anything. The balcony I had was small and did get a sliver of sun in the daytime but when you sit on the chair the walls are so high I couldn’t see out, so it was very cell like. The pool area is nice enough , although a group of other guests did dominate at times and it made it uncomfortable to relax with them shouting, drinking and taking over the pool. Not the studios fault but nevertheless annoying. I will admit I didn’t spend a lot of time here, I left each day around 9/10 and only came back at 5/6, it was somewhere to sleep not somewhere to enjoy being for me. Lots of other reviews mention the hill and yes it is steep, this is not the place for anyone with walking issues. It is high above Pefkos so you have to navigate the hill even before the steep driveway. Of course if you hire a car that’s not a problem. The studios is on the main road so it is noisy with traffic, not a motorway but you can definitely he

Not what I expected 2 weeks fighting off mosquito s, the studio flat sockets hanging from walls, dangerous, shower spray hanging and falling off wall and filthy shower room lovely veiw, too hot for me and earthquakes too frequent, won't do back Rhodes, no room service, cleaners did their best change sheets once or twice per week , mop over floor, and leave, needs cleaned up oh, and the HILL didn't mention STEEP

The room was basic but had a lovely balcony and view over the sea. The pool and bar area were lovely and the staff were welcoming. Plenty of sunbeds and a pool that was big enough to have a swim in. However, everything in the room looked and felt tired- in particular the bathroom suite . This must have been 15 years old at least and had a toilet seat that looked as if it had been used by 100s of people before us. The shower was fine though - old but worked well. The studios were at the top of the village and the road to them was short but steep - a good cardio workout every night !!
