Three years ago my husband and I discovered this lovely boutique hotel. The grounds were impeccable, the food was delicious, and no small detail was missed. Thanks to the experienced owners, the atmosphere was gracious and relaxed. We raved to our friends. Last night we spent the night again but unfortunately the experience was vastly different. The new owners bought this place a year ago in the midst of Covid so we can understand the financial difficulty during this challenging time. However, the place was so very different. The poor owners seemed overwhelmed, the gardens were a mess, the breakfast ( which wasn't included in the price) was a disappointment (stale croissants in France...really our?!!), our room/bathroom was quite a bit old with weak-to-fluctuating-to-no wifi connections in our room. (This made me crazy as I had some last minute work to do.) The website said they spoke English but they didn't. It made us sad to see such a once beautiful, charming hotel reduced to this. But I am hopeful a wave of organization, calmness and sophistication returns. Fingers crossed.
