Fire hazard. No bed tabels, but they have charger plugs by the bed. So your phone is in your bed Fire alarm starts high bib sound in the hallway, 4 times a week? Solution? They put up a manual, so the guests can reset the fire alarm themselves. I kid you not. Not a very clean room. Hair on the walls an in the toilet sink. Black removable spots, in the shower. Lots of light at night, coming from the shower window. Nowhere to put your clothes.A few slippery coat hangers, where your clothes constantly fell off of from. No places for suitcases. Curtain hanging halfway from the sealing. This company owns over 600 rooms i Reykjavik. It seems like they’re all in,it for the money. Not caring for their staffs or guests opinions. Positive things: it is located very central, on a fairly quiet street. The kitchen is functional. The size of the room is good, but how they have used this space, not the smartest.

Imagine your wife is in the shower and someone opens the door to your room. That was not a dream, that is what happened to us. The Security procedures at the swan are non-existent. They had given the access code to our room to someone else. They are trying to be cute by controlling everything remotely including access to rooms. There is nothing wrong with doing that if there are safeguards in place to ensure the safety and security of the guests. Apparently there are no such safeguards in place at the Swan Hotel. I say this because this morning while my wife was showering someone entered our room carrying baggage checking in. The Swan Hotel has CCTV to show this. I can only warn you that if you care about either your personal security or the security of your personal belongings then you do not are well advised to avoid staying at the Swan Hotel. When I called their support line, the answer was I got was I’m sorry let us offer you a late checkout at no cost. The immediate response only leads me to conclude that this was not a one time occurrence. And if someone else had access to your room would you really be willing to leave your luggage in the room wondering whether it was safe?

This was our 2nd stay after a 2 nights tour between. As the first one, good location and clear check-in instruction was provided. Fast feedback from reception, though it was via online chat, we got the missing bedding and towels delivered to our room. However... The room is very off from what we expected. We booked a superior studio as we wanted a bigger room for 3 adults spending 4 nights. Sadly we got a corner attic room no.407. I'm the shortest with only 160cm, and hit my head 4 times when going to bed in the first 2 days. My son got a plainful swell when he got up the 2nd morning. The slanting ceilings left and right of the sofabed are very dangerous. They are so low and have sharp corner edges. It's like staying in a cave as half of the room we can only reach bending our backbones. The lowest wall is only 70-75cm barely 20cm higher than my handcarry suitcase. The hotel insisted that the room is under their superior studio category which can accommodate 4 adults as per Booking, and they replied to update more details in the room descriptions. I attached some photos in case you would like to take reference before update from hotel. Somehow the photos were not posted in Booking review...

We have just arrived home from a lovely stay in Swan House, room 108. It had everything we need and the location was super, just a few minutes walk to bus stops and rainbow street etc. The shower was so good. The only slight negative was the room was very warm but that didn't take away from giving this apartment 5 stars. I would recommend it and would stay again.

The apartment is in a great location close to Laugavegur Street which has all the shops and restaurants. Also a short walk from Bus Stop No 6 and 14 where we were picked up and dropped for our sightseeing trips. Supermarket and Laundromat also a short walk away The room was cozy with comfortable beds and the radiator which kept us warm at night. The bathroom was clean with a great hot shower. The lack of a reception area didn't bother us as the entry to the apartment was seamless with the door code and we did not have to bother carrying our key cards all the time. There is a compact kitchen which we did not use except for the kettle and the fridge. A great place to stay in Reykjavic

The apartment room was very nice — clean and spacious, and the mini fridge was helpful. The location is terrific, and the room was pretty quiet. The only reason I didn’t give the property five stars was mainly because it was advertised as a location with a reception desk — i.e., and actual person. In fact, management response to a question on this point (admittedly from a few years ago — but it should be removed if inaccurate or misleading) specifically confirmed as much. It’s possible that the management equates having access via email or text or phone (for the first two means, you may have to wait a bit to hear back) as 24-hour reception, but I don’t. I intentionally booked this because I wanted a person on site for safety and convenience reasons. It is truly more of an apartment — no daily service; take out your own trash and wash any dishes you used, or risk a “fine.” People should also be aware that the TV is app-based and a bit temperamental — it repeatedly kicked me off, and I wasn’t able to access any TV channels. But I contacted them via text, and it always got fixed before very long. Also, nearly every other person I ran into was having issues with the door codes, as did I. Just know going into it what to expect, be patient, and it’ll be fine! It really is a nice and convenient property — just be aware it’s not a hotel.

The Swan House was an excellent choice of hotel. Although it’s not a traditional hotel, there is no receptionist, and you will be given a code to get into the lobby and your room. We arrived in the early hours of the morning. Having reserved to check in the night before we were able to go directly to our room. We had booked a basement apartment and it was very spacious. We had a private bedroom and a very large living space that had room even after the sofa bed was pulled out. The bathroom had a large shower that had amazing water pressure. Body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap were all included. The kitchenette had a small fridge and a stove top. I do wish there had been a microwave, but we were able to make do without it. Location was excellent. A couple block from the main shopping street, a couple block from bus stop #14 for tour pick ups. There is an amazing bakery near the bus stop that we picked up breakfast from. Many other restaurants were nearby. On checkout day you are asked to clean up the room some, trash and dishes. There is a closet to leave your luggage in near the lobby. We left our bags there to explore a bit more and returned to pick them up before heading to the bus stop for the airport shuttle. We did have a few minor issues but were contacted back via email in minutes and everything was quickly sorted out. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Separate apartment style room, with kitchen facilities and utensils. Enjoyed our stay here. It was a cold November in Reykjavik but the room was warm and comfortable. The stay was close to the pick up location of our guided tours which was an added benefit. I would recommend this place to all travellers.
