What an amazing hotel! It was our first time in Rethymnon and the hotel made our experience. We visited for a wedding and a lot of our other friends staying in the old town decided to go with cheaper options but we didn’t regret having this hotel as a base. Unlike us they didn’t have access to a pool/sun loungers, breakfast or a bigger room to relax in. On the flip side a lot of the bridal party were staying in an all inclusive complex on the outskirts of the old town and they didn’t experience as much of the culture of the old town or get a chance to sample the local food. This hotel allowed a perfect in between !! Location: It has a brilliant location down a quiet side street but with busier streets either side and is around a 2 minute walk to the seafront. There are lovely shops and a variety of restaurants close by. We loved the coffee in the pirate coffee shop a few doors down. We also enjoyed a few drinks in chaplins rock bar at happy hour 7-8 which was about 2 mins away. Breakfast: when we booked we didn’t realise that breakfast was included and it was an amazing perk. They have a breakfast buffet section which consists of continental snacks, fresh orange juice, water, yogurt + toppings, fruit and cereals and then there’s a menu that you can then order off which was a pleasant surprise as the quality of food was great. The menu had choices varying from a traditional cretan egg option with cheese and pork, poach eggs with spinach and mustard sauce, omelette with peppers and turkey and scrambled eggs with salmon or bacon etc. The standard was that of what you would pay a decent amount of money for in a posh cafe in the UK! Filter coffee is free but anything from the coffee machine (latte, cappuccino etc) was an additional fee added to the room tab. The lady who serves breakfast in the morning was absolutely lovely, always smiling, and very attentive. The setting for breakfast was lovely around the poolside/ court yard! The room: we stayed in room number 7 which was at the front of the hotel, we had a cute little balcony which I loved reading my book on before we headed out, you can hear the music from the quirky coffee shop a few doors down and it created a nice atmosphere. The balcony was private as there were lovely trees growing in front. Our room was the middle priced room I believe and had all the amenities and space we needed. There’s a mini kitchen with fridge/mini freezer section, sink and a pod coffee machine in which you could make an espresso in the morning (my partner loved having that on the balcony before we headed down for breakfast). The bed was a really good size we are used to a king size at home and I would say it was around that size if not bigger. The bathroom was spacious with a powerful shower, hair dryer, slippers and olive oil shower gels, shampoo and soaps. Cleaning service: someone came and cleaned our room every day and it’s the best thorough clean I’ve experienced in a hotel! Clean towels, clean beddi
