Grecotel Creta Palace

We just had a wonderful last minute stay here as a family.The hotel and our maisonette was beautiful and clean. Breakfast was delicious! Rivalled Gleneagles. Staff were so friendly. and couldnt do more to make you feel truly at home.The kids club was amazing again the staff and facilities exemplary! Well done.👏 We were breakfast only and caught taxis along to Rethymino village to forte and explore the old town and its many amazing restaurants and thoroughly enjoyed the taverna closest to the hotel. The evening up to Agreco farm with dinner was a highlight and true Mama mia dream for the kids with tour of the farm and animals and food 5* with panoramic views! The spa back massage was on special offer and was truly amazing! Thank you Grecotel team for an amazing holiday 😊

I feel compelled to say something special about my experience at Creta Palace. Having travelled the world staying in 5* hotels for most of my life, I have never experienced such warmth and care I received from the staff at this hotel, especially the team who look after all the guests in the restaurant at meal times. It actually brought me very close to tears at one point - it was so touching. I particularly want to call out to Cecilia, who was wonderful in every way; Evelyn, who was so compassionate & caring when I was in great pain; Nicos, who was just great, and George who helped carry my food back to the table from the buffet. Also, Nasia as one of the guest relations personnel with her enchanting eyes and naturally charming smile effortlessly defused any minor concerns we may have had. I arrived on a much needed holiday (with my wife) with some pre-existing health conditions as well as my long-time food allergies of peanuts, gluten and lactose. Cecilia particularly went out of her way to discuss with the chef what I could have and it altogether went very well and my Epi-Pen returned home unused. It was so encouraging to hear that the staff genuinely desired feedback so that they can improve their service offering. So in the spirit of giving some constructive advice I would suggest that for dessert you maybe consider baking some gluten free cakes like Greek honey and lemon (or orange) cake; GF almond biscuits; Meringue nests with fresh berries and/or Loukoumi. There is actually a lot to choose from (rather than just fruit or ice cream). I look forward next time ! Regarding the accommodation, our only niggle was that we would have liked the room to be a bit bigger and the bathroom was a little small. Nasia said there was nothing else available so we believed her and didn't put up a fuss. In summary: AMAZING STAFF; Good Food & Lovely Location. Sincerely Yours, Paul & Janet

Our 9 days in Crete started badly and ended badly, but everything else was great, First they lost my son's luggage on the way to Crete. We waited two hours in the awful Heraklion airport for it to arrive, before they told us it was still in Birmingham. We got into the hotel around 3 am. The hotel had some snacks for us and the luggage arrived 24 h later. The hotel is gorgeous, rooms are nice, bit small for 3 of us, but perfectly adequate. I'd say 4*. bathroom OK, shower in the bath so a bit old fashioned. No lock on toilet door!!. Plenty of wardrobe space for 2 but not quite enough for 3 with a small balcony overlooking the pool. Food was great, 5*. Staff were wonderful 5**** from the room cleaners to the desk staff. Could not do enough for you. Obviously have been trained very well - always greet you with a smile. Entertainment every night was fun. Drinks very expensive, so we went to the bar at the campsite next door. Beach is lovely but water was rough for the whole week so impossible to swim. Plenty of beach loungers and there is also beach gym, table-tennis, darts, volleyball and football on offer. One infrastructure problem I noticed that did not affect us was that the pool is too small for the number of people who want to use it. An area for children is roped off, but it's very crowded. They really need another big pool for adults only. However we are beach, not pool people so didn't bother us. There is also an internal gym which is well equipped and a spa in the same building (which we did not use) , plus a nice indoor pool. there are shops on site, and you are a 10E taxi ride to Rethymno. We had a lovely time - one of the best places we have stayed. The way back was awful - coach driver drove too fast on windy roads and my wife threw up but luckily only when we got to the airport. I feel sorry for the cleaner who had to empty the bin !!!!! But that is a Tui, not a hotel problem. Overall a great 5* experience and thoroughly recommend the place.

Having just booked a last minute holiday to celebrate our Silver Wedding, I just wanted to write a review to highlight the outstanding customer service I received from Kalliopi in their reservations department. Having only booked the holiday yesterday to arrive on the 30th of August, it could have been very stressful but Kalliopi made the whole experience stress free and manageable. Nothing was too much trouble and all my questions answered without hesitation. If this is the level of Cretan hospitality, then we can't wait to arrive on the 30th.
