Hamam Oriental Suites

We had an incredible stay here and were sad when we had to leave. This place is really one of a kind and is very unique. There's 6 rooms and each of them not only look different but also offer different amenities. The rooms are exactly as pictured. Everything was nice and clean when we arrived. I really like how they provide beach towels and a beach blanket. As our room had a mini kitchen we had a few pots and pans as well as basic cutlery and plates. There was also some salt in the kitchen. I asked for cooking oil and pepper which Michalis was able to provide. There is no washer in the room however, a wash basin was provided upon request. They also provided some laundry detergent in the room. It's located in the old town which was very convenient especially as we didn't have a car. It's a close walk to everything including the main bus terminal (about 8 mins) which we utilized a lot as we did a lot of day trips. There are an endless supply of restaurants, cafes, and shops in the area. It is also in a quiet area so we did not get any street noise. As this is a small family run business, there is no one at the front desk overnight (this was not an issue for us). Michalis and his father are amazing people. I can't say enough great things about them. If I ever needed anything Michalis would immediately provide it. There was also one day when Michalis' mom Frosso was working the front desk as the other two were unavailable and she was just as lovely. She even saw me walking down the stairs with my luggage and instantly ran up to help me carry it down. There was also a student worker who did a wonderful job. We received a really sweet and thoughtful gift from them upon check out. One thing I will point out is that if you are booking the Dahlia room there is only one bed and not two as previously advertised. They had done some renovations recently and removed the sofa bed. Michalis said that he will update this info in their listing. There is also no elevator so you have to carry your stuff up the stairs. I would definitely stay here again if I come to Crete and will recommend this place to everyone I know.

Without doubt this is one of our favourite accommodation to stay anywhere never mind in the wonderful town of Rethymnon and the suites are simply stunning. The location is just perfect right in the heart of the old town but inside the Hamam Oriental it is so quiet with a real tranquil ambience. We were staying again in the Cyclamen Suite which really is luxurious with everything you could possibly need for the perfect stay and the past have also stayed in the Hyacinth Suite which is also fantastic with a private jacuzzi on the terrace. We can't recommend thses suites highly enough and will definitely return the next time we are in Rethymnon.

Hidden GEM! A unique and extraordinary boutique experience in the heart of the old town residential area. The hotel is wonderful, like stepping back in time - except the amenities are modern and top-notch! Each room has a private hot tub or hamam for your relaxation. We had the top floor suite with the kitchen, private balcony, skylight, rainforest shower - which had HOT water and lots of it - and the private SAUNA (which, after a week of walking and driving all across Crete was SO welcome). We felt at home, like we’d rented an air bnb, but totally cared for. The proprietors were kind and communicative and ready to help with any concerns. The hotel was spotless, the appliances brand new, the linens soft (including the complimentary bathrobes), the bed large and comfortable, and the entire space was full of magic - from the 2nd floor common space sun porch to the ancient marble fountain in the lobby - you feel a part of history. The hotel is steps from the museum, shopping promenade, great eats (Raki ba Raki was our go-to) and a very good grocery store - but on a quiet cozy residential street away from noise and fuss. Authentic and original design, real oriental hammam, right im the city centre, buy queit at the same time. The owner was super helpful with all our pandemic-related administrative difficulties/restrictions throughout past years and thanks to their flexibility we could finally be there. Wonderful and unique experience!

The repurposed Hamam is a comfortable hotel in a perfect location for experiencing old town Rethymno. I booked the Hyacinth room because the Hamam room was booked and I’m glad I did. It had 2 huge rooms, with beautiful stained glass windows and a comfortable bed. It had a super roof-top patio with a large jacuzzi. The floors were a nice wood and super clean. Michael was so helpful and welcoming. When he found out we were doing our laundry on the patio he brought us a wash tub, a second clothes rack and clothes pins. He showed us the Hamam room once it was unoccupied. This room was very cool with a domed roof over the bed and would be a fun experience if you wanted to have a steam bath, but I preferred the larger 2 room size.

We stayed here on two occasions and I have to say these suites are simply stunning. The first time we stayed in the Cyclamen (Deluxe Hamam Suite) and it was the most gorgeous room we have ever stayed in and was just so unique. It looked fantastic in the photos and reviews but in reality it was even better and we just absolutely loved it. The high domed ceiling providing natural light, the mosaics, and just the attention to detail was just perfect and there was even an en suite Hammam Bath. On the second occasion the Cyclamen suite was booked so we stayed in the Hyacinth (Ottoman Suite) which again was fantastic and just so unique with real attention to detail. It has a private terrace with a jacuzzi and sun loungers which was fabulous. The bathroom was huge with a jacuzzi shower and again the attention was fantastic. This suite would also be suitable for families as it has two bedrooms, a living room and an extra smaller bathroom close to the second bedroom. Michalis was so helpful and a perfect host and his father (who is behind a lot of the design) is real gentleman. They are also creating two more suites which I am sure will also be completed to a top standard. Even the reception and communal seating area is just gorgeous. The location is perfect and right in the heart of the old town but with old building and stone walls there is absolutely no noise at all when inside and it is hard to believe that the buzz of the old town is a just a few steps away. We cannot recommend these suites highly enough and thank you Michalis and your father for helping us to create some special memories. We will definitely be back to stay again.
