We recently had our evening wedding reception party here at the Sitwell. It’s a place we have loved coming to previously for meals out, one of our favourites for food, so we was really looking forward to holding our party here. On arrival for party day we all got checked in fine and the rooms were great. We had no.17 the four poster room and it was a beautiful room to stay in. There was a concern when at 4.45pm the party room was still freezing cold and in darkness (the party was at 7 and people were already arriving to check in) I was about to have my hair done so was worried about leaving this to other people to sort. I did attend reception to find out what was happening and was told an events coordinator would come and see me at 5, but nobody did. I ended up ringing my partner who sorted the whole room leaving him only 20 minutes to get ready. (Not sure if this is normal for an evening party so it is what it is, we just feel the communication of this wasn’t the greatest). We was told in our package we would be having wooden rustic love letters. On arrival they were white (no major issue at all, at least we had some. However I had paid extra for the rustic looking dj booth cover so it all matched). The party went great, nothing spoilt our night at all. However after the party we have had some complaints from guests. The vegetarian food wasn’t clearly labelled and was out next to the main buffet so people had accidentally eaten it. Leaving 3 vegetarians that we know of, not eating all night. I think a simple sign stating you need to request this option at the bar or a simple sign stating on the buffet what is what, would have prevented this. We was also informed over glasses of wine being returned as they were served warm, and another guest waited 30 minutes to be served as the bar service was slow. We then had another guest tell us they had an altercation with the events coordinator as she was rudely told to move so they could clean the area she was standing. As stated earlier, me and my husband did have a brilliant night for our wedding reception, it has just been disappointing to hear of these issues afterwards.

Easy to book with plenty of free on site parking. Staff were excellent and I only noticed two males running the bar and the table service: so well done to them both. They were super professional, polite and friendly. Venue is nice but a little cold tonight. Menu is ok, like most hotel/pub menus it’s trying to provide something for everyone. I was undecided between their pie of the day (which wasn’t to my tastes when I enquired why the pie was), Thai green curry (but it’s not a Thai venue) and the steak burger that I eventually chose. This came with chips a small salad and onion ring. It was ok but not great. As I ate I just felt it was all a bit greasy. The burger, the chips and the onion ring. The burger sauce, which is t described I. The menu, wasn’t great and didn’t in my humble opinion go with a steak burger; But this may be perfect for other diners. The meal was well priced but just felt oily. Good choice of premium lagers. Paying was quick as we went to the bar as directed. It’s ok and I’d try it again.

We got married at the Sitwell Arms on the 2nd November. We booked the venue almost 2 years before and the wedding, they where up front that until the year of the wedding its unlikely we will do a review but any questions please reach out. Everything was answered if I had anything. The wedding itself was amazing, the staff where amazing, the food was amazing considering we had catered for 118 people. The team were incredibly helpful all day long a shout out to Karen who supported us up to the day and Sharon for keeping us on track on the day. I would love to do it all again if I could but I couldn't have asked for any more support from the amazing Sitwell team. Thank you for giving us the most amazing day and they worked with all our own suppliers as well as there recommended suppliers amazingly. Thank you again

Room 17 10 out of 10. Set evening meal 10 out of 10. Barman 10 out of 10. Reception 10 out of 10. Breakfast 10 out of 10. Will definitely recommend and return. Plenty of car parking free. Electric points for cars. Grounds very nice. Places outside to sit down and enjoy the surroundings.

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights as part of a wedding party and was very happy with our stay. We had a family room which was a good size and in a quiet enough part of the hotel. Food is excellent, from breakfast to the evening meal in the restaurant and the food provided at the wedding. Nothing frozen or ready made, I would happily go back for a meal. Wedding ran really well and was a great experience. Critique would be that there is no lift for the family rooms which will be a problem for some, and breakfast time is very short particularly for a weekend. And your keycard resets after 24 hours so you need to go back to reception which is ridiculous, especially when you notice at the end of the night and the reception desk is closed. They need to do better on this.

Booked for a table of 15, and can’t fault the staff at all, food was to a very high quality lovely Sunday dinner for myself and everyone was very complimentary of their meal, the staff despite being very busy were so attentive and constantly checking asking if we needed anything. A lovely family meal

We’d paid for early arrival(2 hours) but the room wasn’t ready and we had to wait a further 15 mins which wasn’t ideal as we had a wedding to get ready for. All we could smell in the bathroom was a horrible ‘drains’ smell, room 003 However the breakfast was good.
