Altstadthotel Arch Although not classified as a star hotel, I expect from a hotel that is comparable to a 4-star hotel, according to the receptionist, at least a certain standard. Location in the middle of the historic old town of Regensburg, in the pedestrian zone of the city center. You can drive to the front door for checking in, loading and unloading, but then you have to park it in the nearby underground car park, a 5-10 minute walk. 8€/night if paid at the hotel. We were received in a businesslike manner. The gentleman at reception was probably not in a good mood and extremely monosyllabic. It was very different upon check out. Overall, however, the service staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel consists of several connected buildings. Labyrinthine and you can get lost. Our room on the 4th floor was accessible without stairs. We had a double room facing Haidplatz. The room consisted of sloping walls with thick wooden beams. For some "cozy", for us rather cramped and depressing. And dark due to the tiny windows. The beds were very narrow, a bit too hard, but comfortable and we still slept well. Air conditioning was also available. However, the bathroom was very small, with virtually no storage space. The shower for a slim figure just OK. The sink is barely big enough to wash your hands. The breakfast buffet is good, but for a hotel with a 4-star category there is room for improvement. But at least better than the 5 star Hilton in Munich. We always found something and were full. Until the end was permanently refilled. The coffee in thermos flasks on the table didn't really taste good and was only lukewarm. There was also sparkling wine. Bottles were still sealed. Unfortunately, there is no minibar and coffee maker or the possibility to prepare hot water for tea, although this is to be expected in a 4 star hotel. The evening stay in the bar was unfortunately not possible. Closed. Next time a slightly larger and brighter room and larger bathroom. Hotel review - final sentence I have been a training officer and head of a large training department for the last 20 years of my professional life. Approximately 200 days a year in various good to very good hotels in Germany. My wife and I still travel a lot. For this reason alone we can allow ourselves a judgment about hotels. Conclusion: These are our impressions of the hotel. We have tried to keep this review as neutral as possible. So it is the subjective and objective impression of me and my wife. How other guests see it is something else. I am always ready to answer questions by phone or otherwise. The location of the hotel is well suited for a short holiday in Regensburg. We can recommend it with a clear conscience
