Kiltariff Hall Country House

What a lovely old house. I had a spacious room overlooking the garden patio. I especially liked the shower in my bath. It is very peaceful & quiet at the house. Catherine is delightful. She always had time to answer questions or just a friendly chat. She had cook to order menu for breakfast and or the breakfast bar. She makes a great cup of coffee. Kiltarff Hall is very close to Rathfriland. It is walkable. I took a Red Kite Tour with Catherine’s sister, Shelagh. She took me several different places looking at birds, butterflies and flora/fauna. Even spotted a herd of seals on the beach at Murlough Nature Reserve. Visited Tollymore Forest where Shelagh’s friend, Angie, told of the plight of the Irish red squirrel. All together, a wonderful trip to Kiltariff Hall Country House.

We arrived at Kiltariff by late afternoon and was pleasantly greeted by Catherine. The fire was lighting in the drawing room and it was like walking back in time. Scones and tea by the fire and my Mum who is glutenfree was well looked after. Rooms were beautifully detailed. Breakfast was lovely and in the dining room yet again a lovely space with classical music playing in the background and Catherines hospitality what more could we ask for. Catherine recommended stopping in Rostrevor on our Mourne scenic rout drive back. And it was very picturesque. What a beautiful part of the world and everyone so friendly!!

Catherine was a great and welcoming hostess for her family’s home from the late 1800’s.

The home is beautiful and Catherine is a wonderful hostess. It is stately but cozy. The Blue Room has incredibly comfortable beds (king and twin) with crisp, luxurious sheets and the perfect weight comforter. The room is very large with a clever ensuite disguised as a wardrobe. While the bathroom is compact, it is well done with a tall toilet and a shower with amazing water pressure. Breakfast was varied, generous and tasty. The French press coffee was a great start to the morning. So happy we found this wonderful home away from home. The perfect way to end our 3 week tour of Scotland and Ireland.

This amazing historic house is situated in a quiet, lovely farming area. It is elegant and we enjoyed our stay. Room was large and beds comfy. Our hostess treated us like royalty.

Kiltariff Hall is a characterful country House B&B. The accommodation is well presented and the rooms are charming and comfortable. Catherine is a terrific host - tea and cake (lovely) on arrival and a lovely breakfast. But Catherine is also a fount of knowledge about her family's history and what to do in the surrounding area. We took her recmmendation re dining in Rathfriland - at Loft 56 - we were not disappointed. Completely recommend Kiltariff Hall as a place to stay overnight or for a while.
