MaiTia is a beautiful bungalow resort looking out over the ocean. We were given a welcome drink and flower lei upon arrival. We had an ocean front bungalow and enjoyed the amazing view and sound of the waves from our room. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The air conditioning kept the room cool. We enjoyed hanging out at the small pool overlooking the ocean. We had the half board package with our stay which included breakfast and dinner. I would probably skip the dinner part since I don’t eat much fish and many menu options were fish dishes. Note that food is relatively expensive but that’s everywhere in French Polynesia. I would definitely stay here again.

Not only is the pool not functional, but the service is just okay. The pool does not work! The breakfast is terrible. However the 4 rooms on the water are decent. Beds okay and AC is nice. I’m sorry but I cannot recommend this place. Unfortunate, as I really wanted it to be a great spot. They seem to exhausted dealing with anything and anyone. 1 star!

Housekeepers knocking on our room at 0815 in the morning trying to do housekeeping. Told them to go away. Two minutes later they came back knocking on our door again ! Very unprofessional behavior. I made a complaint to hotel management but haven't heard back. The hotel is also very dated and in desperate need of a renovation. The restaurant is poor and they lied to us saying that our fish was tuna when it clearly wasn't. The prices are very high whilst the restaurant is under staffed and dated.

Great location. The hotel staff is freindly, spoke good enough English and very accomodating. the room was cleaned daily, the premises were maintained to perfection. We included the breakfast, which was fantastic, it offered hot meal and cold cuts. coffee and tea in the room. We were right at the lagoon, so the views were always with us. The swimming was from the pier, but it is a 1 minute walk to it. The water was perfect, clean and lots and lots of fish. Even saw an eel living under a coral. Occasionally saw a nurse shark passing by and dolphines. Great experience all the way around .Majority of visitors are in their mid 50-60s. Not too many young people as it is mostly for diving and snokerling. Two small shops near by, 2 minutes and 15 minutes where you can fin water, etc. Masquitors are everywhere, especially in the evening. There is a cute little restaurant across the street with great local food Recommend. Professional photographer Bernard Beaussier! Don't forget to bring charges and converters for Euoprean outlets and for both - cell and laptop. You will go through hell shopping for one. There is a Pearl Factory and a Pearl Store nearby. Forget the factory, the store owner is great and will desctibe everyhing you are buying. Great trip, great experience. Great hotel DIVING! we went diving with Y'AKA. Small but very passionate dive shop. Excellent experience. Will write in detail under diving. Great travels! Cheers

Great stay, great service and atmosphere. Everybody spoke some or good English. Fantastic location, swimming. Breakfast was nice, dinner was nice, but a bit pricey. Walking distancre to a local shop, 2 minutes. Bike ride was a lot of fun. People are nice everywhere you go. There is a Perl Factory and a Pearl shop, sick tot hte shoip. Overall stay was extraordinary

The hotel is barely 3 minutes' drive from the airport and centrally located to bike to either ends (avatoru pass and tiputa pass). The front desk staff was nice, especially Mr. Alan went out of the way to help with bikes, scooters, and motorbikes. But there was an older lady in the afternoons who was very curt. The restaurant staff was OK but seemed underwhelmed. The most irritating part was that the housekeeping did not clean the rooms properly. I had washed hair the first day of my stay and had few strands on the wall, which got never cleaned until I did myself. Also, the floor underneath the bed is never cleaned and had insects. The louvered windows were broken and boarded from outside but still allowed mosquitos. All this on their most expensive lagoon front bungalows. Breakfast buffet was 33usd per person. Dinner had great fish dishes. I would not recommend any non French or non polynesian dishes since they were not great (had pasta and gazpacho) but the fish soup, grilled mahi, fish burger and grilled lagoon fish in lemon butter sauce were nice. Try the locally made tiare and banana ice cream. If you are traveling with family or friends, I suggest you stay at Kia Ora instead.

The room was OK, clean albeit with small ants everywhere. The hotel seems very understaffed, particularly for the restaurant. The workers seemed overwhelmed and unhelpful most of the time. The breakfast is terrible (not worth the very hefty price at all), but the lunch/dinner food is decent. The pool is nice but there are not many lounge chairs. The wifi does not work unless you are in the reception room, but that seems typical of Rangiroa.

We had booked a sailing on a Lagoon Catamaran 620 in the month of April. The flights from Papeete did not allow us to arrive the day of the sailing (we would have missed the departure time), so we needed a place to stay overnight. The Mai Tai was the perfect choice for us. They picked us up at the airport and we had a pleasant overnight stay. In the morning we had a nice breakfast overlooking the water, and we had arranged transfer to the Tiputa pier to catch our boat. Everyone was very pleasant.

What a wonderful resort with really friendly staff, amazing bungalows right on the ocean and just a great ambience. We were here for the diving, and we dove with Topdive, who picked us up every day right on time and the diving was utterly magnificent, with dolphins, and huge huge hammerheads and tiger sharks, and just an experience of a life time. This is a wonderful spot on Rangiroa and would highly recommend.
