Chosen predominantly on its location, not too far away from my cousin with whom we were to have lunch the following day. Arriving after a pig of a drive up from Dorset, it was very pleasant to find the building in general, and our room, Little Owl, in particular and the staff were all delightful. The room was clean and comfortable and it was a bonus to find that there was a voucher in the room for a complimentary drink in the bar; which after our drive was very welcome and sorely needed! We hadn't intended to have anything to eat but fancied something with our drinks and can recommend their pigs in blankets and olives. Wish we had had a second night.

Overpriced and food underwhelming. Paella had tiny amounts of fish and the cheese board was pathetic at £9.00. 2 small pieces of cheese , some tiny biscuits and some honey. Just not what you would expect on a traditional cheeseboard. I complained about cheeseboard but it was left on the bill. £82 for 2 people for lunch. Aspirations of grandeur but average quality. Much better places and better value for money locally. I actually felt ripped off

We chose to dine here on the way to a show on Manchester and booked because of the reviews On arrival We were promptly shown to a table as it was 5.30 pm the restaurant was quiet regrettably it then took 20 minutes to take our food order . We the food came it was well presented but portions were on the small side. We both had the steak pie at 16.95 I enjoyed mine but the potatoes were only aired however my wife struggled with hers due to fatty meat . During our visit no one asked us for any feedback we left feeling rather underwhelmed

The first disappointing meal I have ever had here. Starters of haddock goujons and pork cheeks were good, with wonderful crackling. Two of us ordered Sunday roast beef. That was mostly lovely with the beef nicely pink. The other two had no starter so were looking forward to their turkey roast - and it was hugely disappointing. Firstly, we were expecting a bit of tender turkey breast and leg meat with a portion of stuffing, it being close to Christmas. Instead we got what looked like preformed turkey shapes wrapped around a tiny amount of stuffing which we couldn't taste. It was fairly tough too. The potatoes were hard, on the outside and inside, and that was the same for all of us. The veg were pretty much ok, though a hard sprout is not to everyone's taste. We love coming here, but I'm sorry to say I wouldn't recommend the turkey roast as it's currently being presented.

Perfect weekend stay at this outstanding accommodation with our family! We booked 3 rooms for our stay, the rooms are all very different, furnished to an extremely high standard with everything you could possibly need. The staff went out of their way to make us feel very welcome. Food was amazing, gorgeous breakfast included with good choice. We also dined in the evening, everybody loved their food, highly recommended the steak and ale pie! We’ll definitely be coming back!

Great hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The room was pleasant and has nice views over the surrounding areas.a nice Lancashire breakfast was served in the dining area and the staff member looked after us in a pleasant manor. We were here last year after trip on the ELR and the same again today will be back soon!

Absolutely perfect place for a classy night out! Delicious food and wonderful service. Also a charity so great to support, but you would never guess that because the service is exceptional. If you can, book a window table so you can look at the hills as you eat.
