Acara Guesthouse & Cottages

We chose Acara for a one week break to do some wine-tasting and to chill before a luxury rail tour. What a beautiful place Acara is! We decided not to hire a car but to use both the private shuttle service organised by Acara for the airport runs plus Uber for the short runs. This worked perfectly and was cheaper than hiring a car of our own. For meals we had the kitchen in our room for breakfasts but used the restaurant across the road, 96 Winery Road, on multiple occasions for main meals. This was great food, excellent service and half the price of the UK. We stayed in Acara’s Thatched Room, with stunning views over the garden and pool to the Heidelberg mountains one side, and across the fields towards Table Mountain on the other. Always something to see. The room was very clean with an adequately equipped kitchen, modern fridge and aircon. Excellent wifi. The pool was cool but swimmable and the poolside area clean and tidy. We loved the trees and garden area there, also walking to see the horses and birds on site. The vineyard tractor tour, Table Mountain cable car and a day in Stellenbosch were highlights, all easily reached from Acara. Special thanks to our host Fiona, who was always available, full of helpful information and always ready to help. We would definitely recommend Acara.

Wonderful weekend in Stellenbosch. Very attentive hostess. Fiona goes the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. Very pleasant Accomodation in Beautiful and Peaceful surroundings. The cottages are well equipped and if you need anything then just ask. Fiona is Very Happy to oblige. Really a lovely place.

We spent two weeks there and enjoyed every minute. A perfect spot if you are looking for a calm accommodation. We loved the ambiance of the thatched roof which provides an incredible climate in the room. We haven't used the air-condition as it was always well tempered. Fiona was always really kind and helpful with all our questions and additional needs. The garden offers a lot of spots to sit down and relax.

An amazing setting with magnificent gardens, a lovely pool and a beautiful, clean self-catering room, all exceptionally serviced by a very friendly host, Fiona. Acara Guest Cottages is a great choice for a quiet, relaxing break in the amazing Cape winelands. A fabulous location for exploring Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and their wineries, Muizenberg surf beach and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. It is also very close to central Cape Town and the airport. Fiona is very knowledgeable of the local area and its surroundings. During our stay, Fiona organised a communal braai, where guests brought their food to cook and enjoy dinner together. It was a wonderful, fun and relaxing evening, giving travellers from many different countries the opportunity to swap stories and taste the traditional koeksisters. Thank you Fiona and Martin for making our stay one of the highlights of our holidays in and around Cape Town.
