Hotel Casa Alquimia
4.6/584 Reviews
Me and my family (wife and our 5 YO daughter) stayed in Casa Alquimia in two separate occasions for 3 nights in total and in my opinion this hotel is an absolute gem in Quito Old Town. The location is excellent - most of the main sights are just a very short walk away and it is situated next to Calle La Ronda and Plaza de Santo Domingo. From the safety perspective we did not feel uncomfortable at any time while walking in the Old Town but it is still advisable not to wander around after dark. Fresh local knowledge about sights: the changing of the guards in the presidential palace is now on Tuesdays despite the fact that the most tourist brochures insist it is on Mondays. Now for the hotel itself - it actually is a gem. A very tastefully renovated colonial style building with a lofty inner courtyard that has been overwhelmed with cool details. And the rooms match the style - high ceilings, antique furniture and old wooden floors. The beds were very comfortable and of course the rooms were very clean and well maintained. As you are in Old Town, you can sometimes hear the street noise so it's not dead quiet but it never bothered us. The breakfast was also really good and always with a personal touch from the staff and as the breakfast is served on the roof, the food is always accompanied by the beautiful views towards El Panecillo and the Virgin of Quito statue. I left the best part for the last - the staff is incredible. Starting from the hostess who was really welcoming and helped us in every way. As we took a night bus to and from Amazon, our arrival and departure times were quite late but there was always someone there to let us in or help us to the taxi so big thank you for that. So all in all we had a great experience without anything to complain about. Although Quito is not a city that we recommend to spend a lot of time in but if you visit the country and plan to see the sights of the capital, Casa Alquimia is definitely a very recommendable place to stay.
La Casa de La Nonna

The landlords are two old men. The old man receives the reception and the old woman cooks. The environment is clean and smoking is not allowed in the room. You will be reminded that you can smoke on the street on the roof. The food is very delicious. You can also make reservations for lunch and dinner.
Hotel Casa Gardenia
4.7/560 Reviews
I stayed here on a solo trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos. My guide recommended Hotel Casa Gardenia and I am so glad that he did. It was a wonderful place to stay, well situated in the Historic Centre of Quito. I felt very safe wandering the area especially with the map the front end people gave me that showed where it was advisable to walk or not walk. The service was impeccable. I have celiac disease and they gave me options for the breakfast ,which I appreciated. My room was on the street side of the building and there was some street noise. However, I put my sound machine on and it was absolutely fine. I loved coming in at the end of the day and having a glass of wine in the sitting area, looking at the view. One little bonus, directly across the street was a laundromat. I was able to have all my cleaning done before departing back home.

Hampton by Hilton Quito la Carolina Park

A great new hotel in Quito’s financial district, with plenty of great eateries around. The breakfast had something for everyone from cereal to toast, waffles to fruit. Staff were really attentive and always pleasant, polite and helpful. We chose this hotel as it had private underground parking, which was ideal and safe. My only criticism would be having to get the attention of someone to open the barriers to enter and leave. Thanks for a lovely stay, would highly recommend as an affordable stay in the city.
