Die Lage des Hotels in Norderstedt ist sowohl was Ruhe wie auch Einkaufsmöglichkeiten anbelangt recht gut. Am Rande des kleinen Moorbek-Parkes (mit Wanderwegen) gelegen bietet die Umgebung die nötige Ruhe, nach vorne heraus gibt es nahebei Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und auch kostenfreie Parkplätze. Flugzeuglärm vom etwa 5 Kilometer entfernt befindlichen Hamburger Flughafen Fuhlsbüttel hört man so gut wie nicht. Nur bei sehr ungünstiger Windlage ist in weiter weiter ferne ein leichtes Motorensummen zu hören (bei geöffnetem Fenster). Vom Hotel in die Hamburger Innenstadt, z.B. zur Elbphilharmonie sind es immerhin eine Stunde Fahrzeit mit U- und S-Bahn. Wir hatten das Doppelzimmer 124 zugeteilt bekommen, ein recht gut und funktionell ausgestattetes Zimmer mit Blick auf den hinteren Park. Das Zimmer war ausgestattet mit guten Betten, in denen wir erholsam geschlafen haben. Zudem gab es im Raum eine lange Schreibtisch-Kombination, einen guten Flachbild-Fernseher, Wasserkocher, Kühlschrank, kostenlosen Safe, Kofferablage und einen Schrank. Recht positiv empfanden wir die Fußbodenbeleuchtung unter dem Nachttisch, die mit einem Bewegungsmelder ausgestattet war und nachts den Weg zur Toilette nicht zur Stolperfalle werden ließ. Das Zimmer nebst zugehörigem Badezimmer (mit begehbarer Dusche und ”Regenwalddusche”) waren sauber und schienen neuwertig ausgestattet. Beim Frühstück herrschte eine zwanglose nette Atmosphäre. Die Auswahl am Frühstücks-Buffett war echt gut. Es gab u.a. Brot, frische Brötchen, Salate, Säfte, Käse, Wurst, Rührei, gekochte Eier, Marmeladen, uam. Kaffee stand in Warmhaltekannen bereit. Soweit ich weiß bietet das Hotel außer einer Hotelbar und kostenfreiem Wlan keine gesonderten Freizeitangebote an. Vom Hotel aus sind aber bequem mit ÖPNV die Hamburger Innenstadt zu erreichen. Die U-Bahnstation ist rund 400 Meter entfernt (durch den Park ist es noch etwas kürzer). Nahebei befinden sich Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Parkplätze. Tipp: Während der Tiefgaragen-Parkplatz beim Hotel pro Tag 9 Euro kostet, parkt man in nahen Seitenstraßen kostenlos, an Sonn- und Feiertagen auch ganz nahebei gegenüber der Edeka. Unter der Woche braucht man dort eine Parkscheibe.

My husband and I booked a room at the Motel One Hamburg Airport for the night before our early morning flight. We arrived by train after dark in a heavy rain storm. We had no idea how to get to the hotel and tried calling them but the only Customer Service we could contact was outsourced to someone in Asia. So we went to the curb where a lot of taxis were lined up. The first cabbie told us we had to go to the head of the line and get a taxi there. The second cabbie had a terrified look on his face when we mentioned Motel One and refused to take us there. He told us to phone for a taxi or go upstairs (to departures) and get one there. Well, there was no phone number available for a taxi. We went upstairs and were confused as to why he would send us to departures to get a taxi. We approached the third cabbie and asked to be taken to Motel One. He, too, looked like we had just asked to be taken to a war zone and told us that he had bad ears and couldn't hear us even though he spoke perfect English and we knew he understood us. By this time, it was late in the evening and there were few people around. The rain storm had intensified. We approached someone from security who was just hanging around as few people were checking in. He conferred with his colleagues and they all said we could walk the 400 meters to get there. There were no signs. It's still pouring rain and we could only see an interstate highway in the direction they were pointing. We went outside and started walking through the parking lot and passed all the parked cars. There was no side walk, no sign and we had no idea where we were going. Eventually we came to an unlit sidewalk and started walking. All I could see ahead of us was the interstate which did not look like a hotel would be there. Eventually we came upon an area where there were huge commercial buildings of multi-national companies. Over to the right we saw the small sign for Motel One. We were soaked to the skin. While checking in, I asked the desk clerk why we couldn't get a taxi. He explained that the cabbies wait in line for 2-3 hours to get a fare. Since the hotel is close and they have to take U-turns to get there, it takes them more time than it should but they an only charge a low faire based on mileage. They then have to get back in the taxi line and wait another 2-3 hours to get a fare. I appreciate their dilemma but we should have been told about this. The hotel should have a shuttle for it's customers or at least we should be able to contact them. There are no shuttles, no signs, no way to get in touch with Motel One and no lighting on the sidewalk. The desk clerk asked if we wanted breakfast. We asked if it was free. He said the cost was 16 euros. We weren't interested. The next shock was seeing our room which was so small that it was claustrophobic. Never again.

Das Hotel liegt zwar von der Hansestadt Hamburg etwas entfernt, ist allerdings sehr gut an den ÖPNV angebunden. Für einen Städtetrip also vollkommen ausreichend! Des Weiteren muss hier auch betont werden, dass nur Regionalzüge an dem Bahnhof in Elmshorn halten, keine U- und keine S-Bahnen! Dies bringt zumindest den Vorteil, dass die Regionalzüge im Gegensatz zu den S- & U-Bahnen komfortabler sind & auch schneller fahren. In ca. 25 Min. ist man in Hamburg. Es gibt also mehrere Wege zum Ziel. Die Regionalzüge fahren auch oft, ca. 4 Züge pro Stunde in Richtung Hamburg. Man muss hier nur beachten, dass Elmshorn im Bereich C liegt, wo die normale Hamburg Card nicht mehr gilt! Allerdings erübrigt sich das ganze demnächst mit dem 49 € Ticket. Hier muss man selbst abwägen, was für einen günstiger ist. Sonst zur Stadt Elmshorn: Das Hotel ist zwar nicht weit von der Fußgängerzone entfernt, jedoch sieht diese nicht so einladend eher trostlos aus. Dazu ein hoher Ausländeranteil, mit entspr. Lokalitäten, wie z.B. Dönerrestaurants an jeder Ecke. Aber auch andere Lokalitäten liegen direkt auf dem Weg zwischen Hotel und Bahnhof, wo man sehr gut Abends einkehren kann. Kann ich nur empfehlen! Für ein modernes Stadthotel waren diese Zimmer schön sauber und wurden auch jeden Tag ordentlich gereinigt. Die Zimmer sind zwar nicht so sonderbar groß, allerdings ruhig gelegen und modern - dafür etwas spartanisch ausgestattet. Flachbildfernseher an der Wand, USB Steckdosen am Nachttischchen, beleuchteter Schrank etc. Auch war das Bad schön durchdacht gestaltet, wo man sich schnell zurechtfindet. Getrennte Betten im Doppelzimmer sind auf Nachfrage auch möglich. Eine kostenlose W-LAN Nutzung ist vorhanden, die auch funktioniert. Die Geschwindigkeit ist hier auf normalen Niveau (ca. 50 MBit/s Leitung). Für einen PKW ist auch eine Tiefgarage vorhanden, die allerdings kostenpflichtig ist (9,90 € sollte man Einkalkulieren). Diese wird auch empfohlen, da man außerhalb vom Hotel nicht länger parken darf. So habe ich es zumindest mitbekommen. Selbst reiste ich nämlich mit der Bahn an. Zum etwas negativen: Was leider im Zimmer gefehlt hat, war ein Safe für Wertgegenstände. Dies sollte eigentlich in jeder Preisklasse eines Hotels Standard sein. Das Frühstück ist zwar soweit sehr gut, man wird auch ordentlich satt hiervon, jedoch nichts außergewöhnliches (bis vielleicht auf das warme leckere Rührei.). Schön wären richtige knusprige Brötchen von einem Bäcker, da diese nur aufgewärmt wurden. Der Kaffee kommt nur aus dem Automaten, hier wäre eine selbst gekochte Variante vom Hotel nicht schlecht. Das z.B. eine Kanne mit heißem Kaffee auf Nachfrage direkt an den Platz des Gastes gebracht wird. Die Duschtücher wurden jeden Tag ausgewechselt, auch wenn man dies nicht unbedingt immer wollte. Vielleicht sollte man hier aus ökologischer Denkweise etwas einführen, das nicht immer jeden Tag diese ausgetauscht werden. We did one night stop on our way from Berlin to Billund, the hotel is far from the city center but that´s not our goal this time so the location was good for us. The room was clean and a note was left on the bedtable saying ”Welcome enjoy your stay” which was nice. Breakfast was crowded ( in elevators you can find rush hours of breakfast ) and the staff barely had control at some point. Breakfast had good variations for all of us. The parking lot was located in the basement and you could walk straight from there into an elevator. All in all, clean hotel with great staff and fine locationif you are not planning on spending alot of time in city center.

We spent a night here with our dog on the way to Sylt. The hotel has made a very careful impression on us, the location on the lake has very much liked us. The staff was very friendly to us. We felt absolutely well. The public areas and the restaurant are very extensive, what we felt very pleasant. Breakfast buffet was very good for a hotel in this category. The sweet breads and the press for fresh O juice remained particularly positive in memory. In the library, with few tables, we also sat very quiet and apart from the trubble in the main room. Our room was very clean and stylishly furnished. I deduct one star for the following reasons: - 15 Euro per night the dog costs: In return for it in the room is equal to zero: No pin, no cover, no extra towel. Not even the basics that could prevent additional contamination by the dog. - 18 Euro cost the big salad with chicken breast. For this price I expect more than one salad, mostly consisting of cheap iceberg salad and uninspired raw food (carote, paprika, beans) with a cold chicken breast. - No water, no tea or coffee - even not at pay - when you arrive in the room: For us almost standard in small hotels. - The shower in the room is tasteful, it didn't disturb us. However, there was no light in the shower. If you wanted a little light, you had to make the full lighting of the room, which was unskilled. In addition to the above points, we can certainly recommend the hotel further.

The hotel is large and the lobby is stylish, but there are too many conference guests staying, and breakfast needs to be queued. The experience is not very good. When booking, the room away from the elevator was specially noted. When Checkin, the room next to the elevator was still given. The elevator sound was very noisy. Fortunately, the front desk agreed to change rooms. Room facilities are acceptable, two bottles of mineral water are given.
