Fundalucia

I stayed at Fundalucia in the week around New Year’s Eve. After a busy period in the Netherlands, I came to Fundalucia and Quentár for some quietness. I did plenty of hikes in the surrounding area and I experienced Fundalucia as a nice retreat with fellow like-minded travelers and hikers. Axel took good care of the common area with fireplace (with real wood – which is an unicum in accordance to the place I stay at in the Netherlands) and it was nice to have some genuine, relaxed conversations whilst looking at the flames after a long day of walking 😊. Furthermore, the guesthouse is clean and has good amenities (they’ve got plenty of buyable food over there so you can make yourself a meal when the supermarkets are closed) and nice gardens and views surrounding the cottage. In summary, Fundalucia has a very nice, calming ambience. Maryna is the resident masseuse of Fundalucia and I took three massages. They were the greatest massages I ever had and she puts a lot of effort, concentration and ‘feeling’ in the massage with lots of techniques. They were truly an otherworldly experience and I am very grateful for that.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at this cosy accommodation! Magnificent views, spacious rooms, magical ambience, and very helpful staff. We stayed in a private room with bathroom and everything was exactly as in the pictures. The accommodation is also very close to the short 30 minute bus ride to Granada. We will definitely be back.

I found this place on nomad stays and had planned to work a week from there. The place itself is beautiful and all but the room I had (the male dorm) is the worse room I have ever seen. This is a room for 3 persons with no window. No Window. NO WINDOW. You are in south Spain, in summer, in a small room with 2 other guys. And there is NO WINDOW. The Room was somewhere between 35°C and 40°C for the whole night although the night was somewhat fresh since you're in the Sierra Nevada. So yeah, I could barely sleep and realized there was no way I could work from there since I could not sleep. So I went to the manager which answered me right away in the worst full-of-himself manner that I was the first one to complain about the heat (I highly doubt that because you know, NO WINDOW) and that If I wasn't happy with their offer I could just leave the place. And so did I. Long story short, this place is in no way a nomad friendly place. It is actually not friendly for anyone because everyone needs to sleep and a window is such a nice way to get the heat out of your room after a nice hot spanish day. The staff doesn't give a buck about their client, if you have a problem there, they will just tell you how successful there place is and that if you're not happy with it, you can just find another place. Oh and also, did I mention there was NO WINDOW in the room ?
