2-Star Hotels in Queenstown

Great location, this facility is suitable for those not fussy about where they stay. I did not enjoy it. I think I was expecting more and didn’t do enough research. I imagined there was the backpackers part and also a motel part of this facility. The room is what it is and it just wasn’t for me. Below is my experience of the facility. The room was dirty and very basic with no breakfast capability in room. No bowls, spoons etc if there were these items in the building somewhere to use, I was not advised of this. The Air con can not be controlled from the bedroom and you need to go down three floors to reception to ask them to set it to the temperature you want. You need to do this every time. The pillows are stained yellow and I was only given one pillowcase for two pillows. I’m not sure what was expected with the other. The shower door opens in front of the faucet making it difficult to switch on without getting wet. There was cobwebs and dust on vents and aircon. The balcony is very small but looks out over the beautiful lake and mountains. The balcony was shared with the neighbouring room. The carpet had something spilt on it which had not been cleaned. It wasn’t stained, it was hard and dried. The beds were comfortable enough and the sheets were crisp and white. Overall I wouldn’t stay here again as I prefer my hotels a lot nicer and more resourced but for a young adult looking for somewhere to sleep for a party weekend/backpacker I’d say it’s more than suitable.

The location was the best part for us. It was very central in Queenstown and surrounded with many good restaurants, bars and shops. If you are planning on skiing or doing an excursion there are many pick up spots and tour operators near the hostel as well. The room was a good spot to sleep. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was clean and they provided a nice small space heater to keep the room warm if needed. We didn't have any body wash on our first night in the shower, we reported to the front desk and they gave us a couple of bars and we were told that they would replace in the morning but when we came back it was unfortunately not replaced but we did get another small bar of soap. The remote in the room was disgusting and covered in what I imagine was at one point part of some good fried chicken or possibly pizza but everything else seemed to be fine. Check in was a little tricky because there is self check in/check out tablets at the entrance. We couldn't figure out the right combination of booking reference number and name because we had received Jucy's confirmation code in a separate email. The attendant did offer to help us out but we got the right combo at that very moment. You can pick your cards to activate them and we had no issues with this part but later that evening my card deactivated and I went to the front desk a second time to get it working on our first night. The hotel has some very good signage and arrows to tell you where your rooms are and the amenities (rooftop bar/restaurant, laundry room and kitchen area). The hotel seems to be more of a party hotel and when we arrived there was lots of drinking and people having a good time. This went well into the night and the noise seemed to travel well down the hallway from the rooms that were hosting. We could also hear our neighbour coming and going throughout the first night but it was relatively quiet between 12-6. We picked this hostel for the location and to save a little bit of money for excursions. It did get very busy in our area the first night we were there but after that we had no issues with the traffic. It was a 15 minute ride to the airport in the Uber and the bus stops at the nearby Stanley St bus hub and only takes about 25 minutes to go to/from the airport with limited traffic.

We was told there would be parking space for us. When we return after dinner we found the specific parking space were full and actually there were very limited parking lot(7-8 cars) for so many rooms. The reception told us it was first come first serve and suggested us to park at the neighbourhood but not at other free spaces inside the hotel area. Thats quite not friendly to be honest.

The location is very convenient, walking to the lively area of Queenstown, the apartments are also very sophisticated, it is very convenient to cook, and it is an economical choice for exploring Queenstown. Praise

This backpackers really made our winter stay in Queenstown very memorable. We stayed in one of the second-storey family rooms with fantastic views of the Remarkables. The room was always warm with comfy beds, plenty of storage space and a fridge. A few things stood out for us: very helpful and friendly staff (nothing was ever a problem), very clean bathrooms, clean kitchen with plenty of cutlery and crockery, free meal on Wednesday night, free bike hire (quality bikes!), spa and within walking distance to all major attractions in the town. I'd highly recommend this backpackers!

We stayed here two separete nights. We booked in advance and we were nervous to book the same hostel in case we didn't like it, but fortunately we did and it didn't dissapoint at all. The recepcionist was nice and welcoming to us, everything is clean, it has several kitchens and the common room is like a huge family room with sofa, covers, TV and board games all super cozy which is the perfect enviroment to NOT have a heart attack when you find out that the borders where you are connecting home are all closed and probably you'll have to stay in NZ forever (not a bad thing tho, but I was pretty poor at that point, lol). Anyway, the people is nice, the dorm room has its own bathroom inside which is a massive YES! The lockers are huge plus there are tiny lockers with outlets inside to put your devices (genious). The bunks are hardly bunks because they are pretty solid wood-made so even if your bunkmate moves a lot you won't notice. It has a courtine which is awesome for privacy, its own night light and outlets by your bed. Maybe the only downside is that the parking lot is really (really) tiny, which makes it very difficult to maneuver, specially when you have never driven in the left before, jaja. Other than that, awesome stay, if I ever go back to Queenstown, definetely would stay here again! :)

Stayed here for a week. Was a little apprehensive about sharing facilities as you never know what the other guests are going to be like but I was pleasantly surprised. Kitchen was immaculate and so was the bathroom/shower room. One toilet cubicle had a broken lock and the glass shower cubicle doors were a bit flimsy. The showers are in their own locked cubicle though. Cleaners came in everyday and refreshed towels in the kitchen/bathroom. Bedrooms are great size. We had a double bed and a bunk bed even though it was just the two of us but it was good having someone to put our things that wasn’t just on the floor. There were two fridge/freezers in the communal area and each room had their own labelled shelf as well as a numbered cupboard to store their food. There was also an oven, hob, microwave, toaster and two kettles. Note that if you just get the standard rooms, your personal towels aren’t changed ($3 to get a new one) and your rooms aren’t cleaned during your stay. There’s also some parking outside the lodge if you have a car/small van. The location is about a 10 minute walk into town and is close to some beautiful walks. Would recommend and would stay here again for sure.

Gorgeous view from beautifully renovated unit: sleek tiled bathroom, new kitchen and a great bed. 20 minutes walk beside the lake along Franktown walkway to town or 5 minute drive. About 30 steps to the upstairs units.

The rooms were very average condition, but our kids enjoyed the big deck to play on. Staff werent very helpful and seemed noone knew what was going on, slack communication it seemed. I had also requested our family rooms to be close (twice) yet when we arrived we were on different floors! The man at the desk had no explantion or idea how to fix this issue. Eventually I called for the manager and she changed the rooms for the following night. The restaurant was unimpressive for the high prices also. Had much better meals in town.
