Quanzhou Grand Temple Hotel (West Street Kaiyuan Temple Branch)

This is a hotel you either love or hate! I love its prime location, just two minutes from Kaiyuan Temple and West Street, offering a tranquil escape amidst the bustle. In the summer, the hotel provides every guest with Runben mosquito repellent and a simple gift upon departure. I hate the stilted service. When asked what time to check in, they were told it had to be after 2 p.m. But when it came time to check out, the staff were incredibly proactive, starting calling at 11:20 a.m. and making multiple calls. As a family with elderly parents and a baby, I booked this hotel for convenience, but it was inconvenient. I was scrambling to pack my belongings, even waking the baby up from sleep and making him cry. The cleaning staff was eager to bring all the tools to the door to check us out. I also hate the insane mosquitoes. I checked in at 7 p.m. and was relieved by the spacious room. The next day, when I returned, I discovered the room stank. Both rooms stank, with a sea-like odor, probably from the drains. The hotel's selling point is the location.

I usually choose newer hotels, but this one exceeded my expectations! During our four-day, three-night trip to Quanzhou, the hotel was conveniently located near West Street and Kaiyuan Temple, just a few minutes' walk from scenic spots. The bakery downstairs had delicious coffee, and the shopping plaza across the street was very convenient. My room faced the street, so despite being in the bustling city, the room was quiet, perfect for those who love to sleep in. The service was excellent. The front desk answered the phone quickly and cordially, and anything I needed was promptly delivered. In the hot weather, the mini-fridge was always fully stocked with cola and water, and the spare bottled water was always fully refilled. Transportation was convenient, taxis were easily available, and the scooters were always passing by. There were many delicious local restaurants nearby, and I found something surprising every day during my three-day stay. From the morning market, dinner, late-night snacks, cut fruit, and braised food, there was always something new to discover, which saved me the trouble of searching for delicious food. I highly recommend it.
