Hotels in university city area/Gold dream bay, Qinhuangdao

What a lovely gem of a hotel! I was reluctantly (very reluctantly) persuaded to leave Beijing for the weekend and head for the nesrest beach - Qinhuangdao. The Bullet Train was great fun - we splashed out on first-class tickets and had the first-class cabin all to ourselves. Qinhuangdao was a welcome change of pace from the self-important hussle of Beijing. The bad things first - the weather was terrible and the beach itself is more 1970s Blackpool than present-day Antibes. But the Hampton by Hilton was a delightful surprise. The staff are absolutely delightful. Although they don’t speak English, the use of a few translation apps soon explained to them what we needed and they always did their best to look after us. The rooms are great - we even got a free upgrade to a suite. The breakfast options are many and varied. We were the only Western guests that weekend and the other guests seemed to be Chinese middle-class families. If I had to guess I would say they tended to be from other parts of China as they didn’t seem to be the usual rude impatient Beijingers. It was lovely to see Al the little children having fun with their parents. So, our thanks to the ladies at Reception, the young concierge guys, the housekeepers and the busy breakfast staff. The owners of the this hotel is blessed with great staff. Thank you all so much for looking after us so well.

Hot drinks were handed to us as soon as we entered the door. The service was very considerate and meticulous. We upgraded the room type for free. Needless to say, the location of the hotel is very good. It is close to the sea, and there is a Lawson convenience store downstairs, which is very convenient for shopping. The room is large and the decoration is relatively new. The TV projection is convenient and practical. The bed and pillow of Atour are very comfortable and bring high-quality sleep. I feel that choosing Atour for travel has sublimated the entire trip. If you are afraid of stepping on thunder when staying in other hotels when traveling abroad, choose Atour.

This stay at Mercure Hotel was a very pleasant experience. The location of the hotel is very convenient and the surrounding facilities are complete. The room is comfortable and warm, and the sound insulation is good. The hotel staff are very warm and thoughtful, and the service attitude is excellent. In particular, after some requests were made, the hotel was able to meet them. The breakfast is rich in variety and trustworthy. You must stay in this hotel when traveling to Qinhuangdao, you will definitely not be disappointed!

The hotel is very close to the beach, and it takes only 3 minutes to walk to Jinmeng Bay Beach. I have never paid attention to this beach before. It has golden fine sand and is well protected with almost no stones. There are not so many tourists and it is very new. The hotel is next to Shangri-La Hotel and very close. The 25-square-meter room I booked was upgraded to a 50-square-meter room during the National Day holiday, which exceeded my expectations. The room is very large, well decorated, and clean. The indoor dining table is very practical. I recommend staying in a twin room, which feels simpler and more reasonable than a large bed. In short, it is very spacious. The front desk service and room service are very thoughtful and responsive. There is a restaurant downstairs in the hotel. Although it comes with two breakfasts, the front desk girl gave children breakfast coupons, which is very considerate. Although this trip to Qinhuangdao was only four days, I went sea fishing twice, once for octopus and once for small herring. Each time I got a lot of harvest and it was interesting.

Booked two days from Ctrip.com. When we checked in at less than five in the afternoon, the elevator was under maintenance. We climbed the stairs to the fourth floor. We thought the environment was OK, the sanitary conditions were OK, and the facilities were relatively new, so we didn't mind staying there. Then we went out with the children and went back at about 9:40 in the evening. Because we were tired after running outside all day, we were ready to wash and rest. As a result, the water flowing out of the faucet was red and yellow, mixed with mud. I called the front desk twice before a young man came and said he would deal with it immediately. I kept draining the water from the room, but the water quality didn't change. I called the front desk again and they replied that they would change our room to the front floor. After that, no one paid attention to us anymore. I felt that the service of this hotel was average, the breakfast was average, and there were not many varieties. In short, I felt that it was not worth the high price. The first picture attached is the water quality at the beginning, and the next one is half an hour after draining the water.

We very much enjoyed our stay . Staff were very welcoming, kind and helpful. Very convenient location, a stone throw away from the beach. A mall is about 10 minutes away in a taxi. The only aspect we feel needs to improve is the breakfast. The menu was always the same which made a longer stay experience a bit boring, not always looking forward to dining. Perhaps changing a few items in the menu every morning will make that exceptional experience. Otherwise, an amazing hotel-keep it up!

Unexpectedly perfect! The room is very comfortable and even has a smart toilet. And the room has a direct view of the sea, the view is amazing! The hotel is only a 3-minute walk from the beach, and on the other side of the hotel is the famous Qinhuang Alley, where you can eat, drink and have fun! Finally, I would like to praise the hotel's service staff, who are very enthusiastic and the experience is simply great

A true 5 Star experience. The room is top notch with a large window overlooking the sea. Service is outstanding in all categories. Breakfast is full and rich. The hotel dinner buffet is so extraordinary that I say you must try it at least once! We were amazed at the variety of dishes and the quality. Hotel location is perfect. Just a few minutes walk and you can have your feet in the sand or water. The Qinhuang Alley Food Street is also within walking distance or very short cab ride. This food street is very lively and fun to visit especially in the evening. Two other recommendations for things to do are Lao Long Tou (Old Dragon Head) which you can get to by cab. And if you are a fan of the Olympics you really should visit Olympic Avenue Park. Amazing relief sculpture wall over 300 meters long portraying Olympic history. Must be seen to be believed. Thank you to all the friendly and professional staff and chefs at Grand Hotel Qinhuang for making our 4 night stay so enjoyable. Qinhuangdao is a wonderful city with so many different things to do and experience we hope we can return again.

The location of the hotel is still very satisfactory. It takes about 10 minutes to drive to Maoye Tiandi and walk to Qinhuang Alley in 30 minutes. There is Xicheng BBQ opposite where you can eat. It tastes good. It is close to the police station and is safe. We went south to Pigeon Nest Repulse Bay Wildlife Park Aquarium and Sea Sky. Isshiki and other scenic spots are basically 30-40 minutes away by car, and the slightly farther Laolongtou is also only 50 minutes away. Mainly because of the convenience of eating nearby. The shortcoming is that the hotel should be renovated and renovated. The taste in the lobby is relatively large. The hotel is currently being reorganized. There is no one at the moment, but you can order it. Takeaways are delivered directly to the room. The bathroom hardware facilities need to be improved. The countertops and walls need to be cleaned. Both the room service and the front desk service are very enthusiastic. I will consider coming back next time.

Nice, basic hotel in a great location. 3.0 star Western standard. Room was clean and spacious. Next door to a great shopping mall and walking distance to a beach and local attractions. Breakfast was fine for the price. Housekeeping is hit-and-miss starting in the afternoons. They forgot to restock our toothbrushes and water bottles more than once. We waited an hour for water one night and they completely skipped turndown service the next night. Probably a staffing issue. Otherwise, the stay was satisfactory and we would choose to stay there again.
