Greenhouse Zhixuan is a quaint hotel in a quiet part of town. About 10min walk southwest there is a huge waterfront ***** for people to work out, very popular with the locals. Good restaurants right next door and a supermarket across the street for convenience. The staff were the nicest and kindest we have ever encountered in all our trips around China. Breakfast was great, with seafood aplenty - where else but in Qingdao, right? They even have a cute little robot to bring deliveries up to the rooms.
The stay was pleasant but not without its faults, though. The hotel is clearly in need of refurbishing throughout, as its age is showing. The room was impeccably clean but there is little to no soundproofing and the doors do not completely seal to the outside, making noise in the hallway clearly audible. You may also have to deal with guests who think it's normal to keep their room door open while their small children run around screaming without supervision. And of course the smoking. It's concerning to be in your room and having smoke come inside from you don't know where.
