Our driver told us that he could not drive us to El Jardín Hotel y Restaurante. My wife and I were perplexed that this was impossible as we never had that experience. Now we have. And we are glad. The only way to get to El Jardín Hotel y Restaurante is on foot, across a plaza and the Puyo River. What a beautiful setting it was! Though in the city, you felt like you were in the heart of the Amazon. El Jardín Hotel y Restaurante has done a fantastic job of landscaping to make it a wonderful place to chill out. The rooms are comfortable, large, and modern. Hammocks are everywhere outside of the rooms, if you decide to relax outside. For those concerned about connectivity, we had free Wi-Fi with a good speed. You can upload your latest photos to Facebook with no problems. El Jardín Hotel y Restaurante is conveniently located to some eating establishments, including a brewpub with good food from Baños de Agua Santa. After eating, you can stroll along the beautiful riverwalk that goes right by where you would be staying. We only have accolades for this lovely retreat from the city.

What a wonderful oasis in Puyo! Stayed 3 nights and took advantage of the meal plan which includes breakfast and a 3 course dinner. Everything was delicious. We also took their 5 hour tour which took us to an animal rescue park and the highest waterfall in the province. Melissa, our guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Discovered that their tour takes you to different places than the other 1 day tours out of Puyo. They all seemed to go to the same places. We were happy to go someplace different than the rest of the touristas.

Extremely friendly place, beautiful garden, comfortable rooms, hot tubs, very good food. We spent a night here en route to Amazon. We were traveling with an experienced and knowledgeable Ecuadorian guide who recommended El Jardin. I don’t think you can go wrong.

The hotel is beautiful (particularly the garden), the rooms are big and clean, the restaurant is very good and the staff incredibly nice. It is a great place to stay to explore the Amazon rainforest and/or before entering the rainforest (the staff and owners have tips for you too if needed) and/or after a trip to the rainforest. It is calm but very centrally located.
