Best Hotels near Yew Tree Farm, Aylton, Ledbury., Putley

Excellent location. Good reception. Wedding party in full swing was fine. Sadly, the restaurant was closed which was disappointing as we were hoping to have a relaxing evening. Food was served in the bar and was not the standard you would expect at such an establishment but we had no choice as local restaurants were difficult to secure a booking so late in the day. Room was fine and staff excellent. Small problem with evening bar meal was avoidable. Although we booked a table on arrival using our room number, we received a call from reception the following day asking for payment - we explained that we were not due to leave until the following day and would settle the account immediately if required - which we did. Again not the level of expertise and communication you would expect from a 4 star hotel.

This is a very nice hotel. 21 of us, ranging in age from 5 years to late 80's enjoyed the facilities and the service. It is on a main road, but the site is sloping, so one does not hear traffic noise. On the other side of the hotel is a very large area of grass, where the children could run. The views from there are stunning. Since we were a large party we just fitted into the conservatory for dinner, which meant we did not disturb other guests. The staff are relaxed, friendly and helpful. (one child was amused to find her soft toys araneged as a reading group). There is ample parking on a gravel surface. The sitting room (Violete Szabo) was comfortable. The menu and the wine list were short: and lacking pretension. The food was generally good, with one exception: the naan bread was dire and not like any naan I had ever had on many visits to India: thick, rather tasteless and clearly not the product of a naan oven. Supermarkets do it much better. Is it suitable for the disabled? I walk with a three wheel walkign frame. There is a route (rather rough) from car park to the hotel, giving a level entrance. I had a ground floor rooom approached after two rather heavy fire- doors. It was large, comfortake, with a double and a single bed. It had a shower that could be used by pulling an a cord - which extended about 8 inches from the ceiling: I did not try. Unfortunately, the route to the conservatory where we ate, and the breakfast room involved three wide steps where I needed help. A wheelchair would be very difficult.

If you want to park your car at the George there is a small car park which is accessed through a narrow alley way, i got my freelander in but it is a good idea to pull your mirrors in. we turned up on the saturday evening and got a nice welcome, given our key and shown to our room, whish was nice, warm and comfortable. a nice en suite bath and shower.if you are tall just remember to duck a little when going into the bathroom, i forgot a couple of times. a nice supply of towels, toiletries along with bottled water and biscuits. no cooked breakfast due to restrictions but got a really good value breakfast hamper delivered to our door.. the bar is lovely and traditional, though we had to put up with covid restrictions still a memorable time.lots to do around newent and convenient for visiting other nice locations around the local area.looking forward to visiting again soon.
