There are many small insects jumping around, and they are endless. And because there were too many small insects, I didn’t dare to open the window and it was very uncomfortable. Environmental hygiene is poor.

The hotel is old and there is no service. The check-out key was thrown back at the counter. There was no hot water for showering at 10:30 in the evening, and the hotel did not give a reminder. Fortunately, there was hot water the next morning

My partner and I read reviews before booking this hotel. We were expecting it to be dated, basic, and old, with peeling paint and torn carpet. We saw the review that compared it to “The Shining.” We aren’t fussy or high-maintenance, we are low-budget travelers, and we have a sense of humor so we didn’t have too many worries when we booked this. Unfortunately, when we arrived the vibes were much less “The Shining” and much more “The Walking Dead.” We confirmed with reception that we were able to check in early afternoon, since we would not be able to check in in the evening. The city itself was a borderline ghost town. We were met on check-in by a kind young receptionist, and that was the only good thing I have to say about the hotel. As soon as we were done checking in, the reception area was gated closed. There were no other signs of human inhabitation in the hotel. We made our way through the run-down lobby and hallway to our room, and saw that despite a request for a large bed we’d received a room with two twin beds. The windows were open and the room was freezing cold in April. The room had two space heaters but only two outlet plugs in one corner of the room - and after testing the space heaters, only one worked (a little). There was no other source of heat in the room. The bathroom was hilariously beat-up and drafty. Nearly every room on our floor was in some stage of repair with doors open, carpet torn, mattresses on the floor, etc. and no signs of habitation within the last few months. We left our room for the evening as long as possible, knowing we wouldn’t enjoy any time spent there. When we returned to the hotel after dark, it felt like we were breaking in to an abandoned property - there were absolutely no lights or signs of human activity inside or around the hotel. Everything was pitch black and we needed flashlights to find our way through the hotel to our room. Again, this felt very zombie apocalypse. The “Resident Evil” games were livelier and less creepy. Our room was freezing cold. The mattresses felt as old as the hotel and we could feel each individual spring beneath us. The space heater rattled and I spent the night questioning whether it was a fire hazard. Needless to say, we couldn’t sleep. At all. It was far too cold and uncomfortable. I regret not moving to sleep in our rental car. By the morning, my back was wrenched. We’d booked a second night and it was not refundable but we ate the cost and booked a different room elsewhere for barely more money and ZERO regrets. I’ve read the reviews that describe a loving owner attempting to restore this property, but at its current state it genuinely feels like it should be condemned instead.

Please see images of lock being broken into before and no one on duty at the front desk, anyone can access into the property during the daytime and break into your room and when we feedback to the property, we were told that we complaint too much!

We stayed in this hotel for 2 night's, I would not write negative reviews, because the owners will respond, "you payed a cheap price for the room". But I am sure I am entitled to my opinions, The hotel is definitely in need of urgent TLC, when we arrived at the hotel, the building looks a run down, such a shame, it's look like a very nice art deco building, The Cook restaurant is closed , the Bar as I saw on the Hotel. Com gallery wasn't there, the Pool Table is not there, the grand stairs carpet is showing wear and tear, and the room, the bed and line linen are okay, there was few spiders in the bathroom, but that's fine by me, the paint on the walls and by the window is peeling, there's a few stains on the carpet here and there, oh there was some sharp carpet nail by the bathroom door, I wasn't wear my sandal and I stood on it, luckily it didn't hurt to much. Oh this property is right by the around about, and railway, the train can be very noisy, but that's okay for me. Oh and the town, not much to see really, lucky there are few shops about.

Pretty nice overall. Lovely front desk guy, felt safe at the hotel. Just had trouble with being able to lock our door which was a little scary.

Very reasonable cost for a comfortable stay, but may not suit others used to luxury accommodation. Would be great to see the hotel restored to former glory.

An opportunity to go back in time if you love old buildings. Rare to find original building like this. I totally enjoyed my visit.

I stayed for a night and was just looking for a bed for the night which was just as well as the hotel offers nothing else. It is certainly showing its age and is rather rundown but clean. The staff member was friendly enough and welcoming and the location was convenient but you need to be aware the NIMT rail is straight across the road. The hotel is situated on a corner and it is quite a major intersection so there are plenty of trucks passing in the night. However I didn't mind as I lived near train tracks before. You have to dine elsewhere. The reception was unmanned arriving and leaving. Having said all that it was ok and I would stay again there

I strongly recommend reading the properties website before booking - they are awesome and very accurate in their description of what the property is and isn't. We stayed for 3 nights over long weekend - arriving after 3am in morning (pre arranged). The property was super helpful and flexible and made the process of getting into our room at that time simple and easy. Apart from a quick, friendly conversation on the first morning with one of the cleaners we actually had no face to face interactions with the team over the whole stay - including checking out on the final day. If you want a quiet, basic room at a great price - this is a great option. If you want heaps of extras, a 5 star experience from staff or the latest mod cons - you probably need to look elsewhere. I would definitely stay here again if in similar circumstances.

The room we had was very nice especially for the price, it’s mostly the decoration from outside but for a night or two it’s absolutely fine! Only problem we had : no power on the plug to be able to charge our phones for all the night. Otherwise, the staff is super nice and welcoming I really appreciate it!
