Mixed feelings about this hotel . As a female solo traveller I do like to go out in the evening and have a wonder round the local area to visit shops/bars/ restaurants etc. if this is what you like doing then sadly this area is not for as there are just a handful of restaurants and 2/3 small supermarkets. The is the only place that I’ve never quite felt comfortable at being a solo travel. It’s very safe but no atmosphere around the area. On to the hotel itself, the reception area is huge and always smelt amazing. All reception staff all so friendly and helpful at all times. Upon arrival I was given a really noisy room at the furthest point away from reception. The room was small and ground floor and a view of a road outside. I’d requested a pool or sea view. Again the reception staff were amazing at rectifying this immediately and even took me to see the new room before i unpacked. Fab service. I only tried the restaurant once as had some kind of bug upon arrival so kept away from food most of my time there. I did visit the local chemist who were really helpful and gave me something to ease my nausea. The main pool is very busy and very loud as this is where all the entertainment happens . In my opinion , mostly catered for French and German visitors. As I wasn’t feeling too good I tended to either chill at the middle pool further down which is next to kids club and there is another beautiful pool aimed at young families, or on other days I would spend my time at the beach . It’s only 5/10 mins walk max number. Great beach shop next to it selling usual touristy things as well as reasonable priced drinks. Beach days were really chilled . Bit of a slight incline back to the hotel but hey you’re on holiday so take your time . I found the hotel to be very generally very clean. But sadly the area was not for me and I wouldn’t return here.

Clean accommodation, friendly staff, good location for beach. Food buffet style with plenty of choice- over the week there was quite a bit of choice but with a lot of repeats for salads and deserts. Staff in restaurant quick to clear plates but this said there is plenty of cutlery and crockery to use when getting next dish. Gym on site which was clean and well stocked with equipment. Wife was disappointed with the spa but it wasn’t expensive at 20euro for a hour. The resort only had three small supermarkets, approximately three restaurants so not a busy resort. Would I come again ? Yes

Just got back from a great 5 day break at the Occidental Menorca and I would recommend this hotel for those looking for a nice spot for families or a friends break. The resort is nice with colourful buildings and a courtyard style. We were in building four at the rear of the hotel overlooking a quiet side road with a field/distant sea view to the right. Apart from the occasional bus passing we were uninterrupted and with the balcony door closed, it was very quiet. I stayed in a double room with a friend and this was clean, of adequate size and the bed was comfortable. The cleaners come round every day and do a great job to freshen up the room. The pools in the main part of the resort are very nice and are relatively shallow which is good for kids. There are 2 infinity style pools which are nice as well as a small kids pool. If you head down the reception steps and across a path outside, scan your room key and this takes you over to the other half of the resort with another pool and tennis/volleyball courts. The food was very nice, it was varied for the first few days but then became a little repetitive but can’t complain about the quality. Waiters were friendly. The entertainment was great, funny and impressive shows e.g. magic and Disney character acts and the mini disco was great for kids. This is a very family geared hotel so not the most ideal for a quiet couples break as lots of small children but didn’t bother us. Hotel is near a nice sandy beach (although sea is full of thick black seaweed covering the floor) and a few shops and restaurants, bus stop outside reception can take you to Mahon for under 2 euros which is a very nice area to visit- harbour boat trips, nice shops and restaurants. Overall would recommend this hotel to families or friends, we had a lovely stay here ps. Visit the spa if you can, a little expensive but lovely!

We stayed here as a family of 3 mid October- the last week it was open. It was a shame as the family pool part was closed (we were not aware of this as no information on the tui website) which was a shame as we had our 2 year old with us. Nice food. Nice staff. Close transfer from airport. Rooms Nice and bed could be more comfortable.

My daughter and I are just home from a week here. What a great place to have chosen for it. A warm and friendly welcome by Vanessa at check in was a great start. We stayed in a family room which was very clean and well equipped. Not the biggest room but was well laid out and provided all we needed. Hotel was quieter as coming to the end of season so there was plenty access to loungers by the pool. All the outside facilities and bar were clean and well sourced. My daughter’s high point of the holiday was getting involved with the Animation team and activities. Special mentions to Guacamole, Cappuccino and Bon Bon for the fun games and chat over the week. The shows put on by the whole animation team in the evening were fantastic and well practiced. Good was of a good standard and reasonable choice for an All inclusive package and again was clean and organised. Can’t comment on how the hotel would be in peak season but for us for an October get away it was perfect and just what we needed. Close transfer to the airport and a short walk to a beautiful beach all added to the experience. Well done Team Occidental.

Fantastic hotel with incredible staff. Great food with so much choice. Pool areas are brilliant with plenty of space and options for sun beds. Beautiful garden areas with wildlife in abundance (hoopoes in particular). Perfect location in a great resort and only 20 mins and €22 in a taxi from the airport.

Three star at best, more like a two star plus. Pros Clean rooms Cons Food is atrocious - cheapest ingredients and served cold. Lack of choice and unable to cook basic things. Pool bar - again food is worse if that’s possible. How hard can it be to make a toasted sandwich ? Dreadful. Rooms - very small and is like student accommodation. Impossible to have a shower as no water pressure at all and no water pressure in sink. Imagine Russia in the sixties…… Staff - most are miserable and probably due to being overworked and underpaid. Now enough staff generally. Will definitely not be coming back and would actively avoid.
