This was our second visit to Live Aqua in DR. We were so impressed with the resort the first time we talked friends into joining us for this trip. We can only assume the decline in food and drink quality is that they are experiencing the same issues as everyone else getting quality EE’s or a change in management.
The drink experience was incredible the 1st visit, true bartenders- this time we could not drink a lot of the drinks. Martinis made with capers? Any mixed drink with a lemon base were undrinkable. Tom Collin’s - pretty basic summer drink right? If they had the ingredients it was gin and lime juice???
The quality of the food was not what we expected after the first visit. Only 1 time were we asked if we enjoyed our food. Asked for medium rare- got well done. I will say the pasta dishes were their best meals.
Service was hit or miss. Front desk was great, waitstaff hit or miss. Bartenders were very friendly but not well trained. Beach and pool staff - friendly, prompt great experience breakfast depended on the time you arrived. Started out good and as the morning went on you were luckily if you got a cup of coffee or tea after the second request. Restaurant staff again were hit or miss. We usually tip everyone, but after a while we didn’t tip the poor servers.
I think this will be our last trip to Live Aqua with so many other resorts to choose from.
