La Prometida

Perfect hotel!! Everything is great. The bed is very comfortable, the rooms are pretty, the breakfast is very delicious and beautiful presented. The highlight of the place is the warm service the we got from the owners and the other hotel employees.

A beautiful oasis on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast. Front of house Selva was so welcoming on arrival, and would plan my daily adventures. Owner Andy was lovely and had some San Franciscan friends staying, who were so inclusive and insightful. Villas are classy-coastal-chic. I highly recommend this sanctuary.

This place is a little piece of heaven. I couldn’t fault a thing. The rooms are immaculate and do prettily decorated. The breakfast every morning was delicious. You can easily hire a bike or have a nice evening meal just a short walk away. The best part though is Selva who is so incredibly kind and helpful, with no ask too big. If you choose here you won’t be disappointed as it far exceeded my expectations.

This was hands down the most amazing experience I have ever had at a hotel! We arrived late the first night around 9pm, and we were promptly greeted by Francisco with a glass of wine and a cool lemongrass scented towel. That was a very nice touch, especially after the long ride there. We brought some fresh pipas (which we learned the name for from the host 😄) with us that we got from one of our taxi drivers along the way. Francisco took our luggage to our room for us and even offered to prepare the delicious pipas for us! Breakfast the next morning was outstanding, and the beautiful views of the pool and the rest of the property pair quite nicely with the fresh juices and fruit! The villa was luxurious, perfectly spacious for my girlfriend and me, and felt very private. All of the staff were amazing, and we especially enjoyed chatting with Selva, who gave us some great recommendations about things to do in the area. To sum it up, I can't speak highly enough of this experience! It doesn't even feel fitting to call this a hotel, because I definitely felt like I was at a resort. When I inevitably return to Puerto Viejo (there's no way I can stay away after this) I will absolutely be staying at La Prometida!

I travel extensively and my breath was taken away by this lovely, captivating place. La Prometida will welcome and embrace you, and you won’t want to leave. The physical comfort, impeccable rooms, lush grounds, sparkling pool, delicious food, perfect location, and most of all, the incredibly caring owners, Francisco and Andy, and their amazing staff — all of these made for a heavenly stay. I’m so grateful I was able to experience La Prometida! Can’t wait to go back!

This was easily the best hotel experience we have ever had. I realize that this review will probably sound like it was a paid ad (it's not), but we simply had the best stay. Within a day at the hotel, we were already planning a trip back. La Prometida is the perfect blend of boutique hotel (style, food, thoughtfulness) and a great AirBnB (a very personal experience with the hosts). Aside from the gorgeous style of the hotel and the pristine pool, we loved how intimate it was. You can tell that Andy and Fran have poured their hearts into their place and they were so excited to show it to us. They were also filled with knowledge about the area and were conversational with any/all guests. We had a great time joking around with them and hearing their story. Hospitality comes naturally to them and it shows in every aspect of the place.The breakfast (and morning coffee) are also fantastic touches. The hotel is just a few hundred feet from a beach and about a 3 minute drive or 15 minute walk into Puerto Viejo. Just far enough from the bustle of town to feel the quiet but never inconvenient. Before we checked out, we told Andy and Fran that we can’t think of a single thing we would have changed and we meant it. Definitely check them out!
